Seriously though...I love the BRZ, no hate for that car at all and trust me, the S2000 is loud and harsh and everything else you've heard. No way around it...but the good things about the car so far out weigh them you end up convincing yourself that you even love the bad things.
BRZ is a great daily, quiet, new technology and a hell of a bargain over paying fkng 20K for a 10 year old car. Fk that...

I've daily driven waaaay louder, more uncomfortable and poorly built cars. I could do it, but would rather not
That's not to say the S2000 is either. But to own one car, I wanted something with a backseat that I could drive home in comfort from the track or on a road trip. 4000 RPMs isn't exactly relaxing.

I participated in Ohio S2KI's parade lap at the Nationwide 200, on the Mid-Ohio track last weekend. I was also at Mid-Ohio two weeks prior for the Honda Indy 200 but couldn't participated in the parade lap because I arrived too late for it. I have more pics and a lap video coming from my Google Glass. Here's a few pix from last weekend, taken with my T4i:
My car on the track:
The lineup prior to the parade lap
Some of the grandstands framed by my car:
The Sunoco sign and Nationwide bridge at Turn 1
The Keyhole
More grandstands
Probably the only time you'll see a Honda Accord on a race track. Saw some Ridgelines and Civics on the track. I suppose it's not a surprise given that Mid-Ohio is Honda's home track.
The exit of turn one. The line of exit is quite obviously visible.

Fantastic, bob!
IS that last S2000 in the row painted blaze orange (my old rsx color I )
Also, my exhaust cackles, I think...it also backfires and it's glorious. Maybe it's the flowmaster high flow cat? Also, it has a deep tone without too much drone thanks to having wrapped the entire thing in header wrap.

What all does it have done to it, exhaust wise? is it the Roadstersport Street Single or Race? I've had pretty much all the mufflers available for the car and have finally settled on the FM and the Race. With the full GW system w/catless and any of his mufflers will pop excessively. With the race it never stops popping, and like I said, blows fire assuming the cat in the midpipe is well worn in. It sounds like gunfire every time you shift gears.

I love that! It's like a fire breathing dragon drawing in it's next breath to shoot another flame!
I doubt mine does it as much as what you're describing but every time I get a nice solid backfire...I get this serious grin on my face and my wife cracks up at it.

Why? I'm a honda guy. I just know a lot more about hondas than subarus. Sure give me a subaru and itll take maybe a month to memorize all the worth while brands and figure out whats quality and whats not.
But with hondas Ive had over a decade experience. (not saying thats a long time but thats a majority of my enthusiast career haha)
As well, I think the s2k is way sexier. I've always loved them and you just cants beat

I don't think many will argue that S2000 > BRZ/FRS, even the BRZ/FRS owners.
But You have to remember BRZ/FRS is newer, bigger, less hardcore, coupe, 2+2 with a useable trunk, warranty and etc...
So while S2000 is better than FRS/BRZ in a lot of ways, when you have to drop $25k or $30k on a car. Many other factors will come into play.
Therefore, FRS/BRZ is a better for people who want some cheap, reliable and light weight RWD fun without compromising too much.

S2k>life compromises
Also spoon mooncraft>usable trunk
I guess when I look at an S2k I see gorgeous. I see a dream car. I see a beast of a track car.
When I see the BRZ I see all the old farts in my valley hitting their mid life. LOL
Or the kids with their mommy bought cars trying to race everyone on wheels.
Didn't mean to change the subject though. Carry on.

Took just ONE fry and back seats went off limits.
P.S. Im borderline not letting people get in period. My best friend whom drives a slammed e46 has scrapped my passenger door on the curb twice. Once was like DUDE YOUR CAR IS LOW. Second time was hardcore facepalm. And thats the one friend I expect to understand it. Not even mentioning the friends that arent enthusiasts. I notice the missing paint under the edge of the door every time I clean it.

how old are you?
Let me guess you are in your early 20s?
Your view will change in about 10 years because my rationale was the same as yours and that is how i endured 6 years of DD s2000.
Now, i don't know if i can do it anymore, unless it is a 2nd car.

I dont doubt my views on the s2k would change. I was joking when I say s2k>life compromises. I can imagine when I went to pick up my new wheels how hard that would have been.
As for friends in my car, that'll change too once I feel they can respect other peoples hard earned property.
And you're close on the age but as Ive learned from Undying, never release your age. hahaha JK. I'm 26.

Which view? The view on the s2k or letting friends get in my car??

In their own respective time frames, the S2000 and FR-S are unique vehicles. There were many other roadsters when the S2000 was around, but nothing that was as raw and as fast for that amount of money.

The s2k speaks to me. That front end is so simple but perfect. Headlights and tail lights are a favorite by many. And the size of that engine bay makes my jaw drop.
Back that up with the rear wheel drive and how light they are and can be made. As well as the aftermarket support. I mean yeah the BRZ has CRAZY aftermarket support. But I cant live without my Mugen and Spoon. I swear they will always be there for me when I need them.
Not trying to hate on subaru or toyota. I just LOVE the s2k. I wanted to buy one before the ILX but was having poor luck finding a bank to loan me the money for it. They all told me the car was too old for them to offer a loan for it. D:
