Would you diehards give up yours? I've owned mine 6 1/2 years, so I count as a diehard. (Context: I usually get rid of cars after 2-3 years, so 6 1/2 years is very unusual for me.)

Great performance, beautiful looks and Honda costs.
Awesome combo

Question for you dudes that own one of these and live in the northern states. How and where do you store your car for the winter? Still looking for the right one for me but thinking I might push the purchase out to spring time (or would winter be a better time to buy?) because there's not much left of summer driving season here. We have a three car garage but three cars already so storage will likely have to be off site.

I'd do that except for our HOA doesn't allow it. Wish I would have read the guidelines closer before moving there.
If that wasn't an issue...
1.) The only one I'd park outside is my Expedition which is a Ford and is already rusting. Winters here are very very harsh and I'm not sure an almost 17 year old Ford truck would make it parked outside. I feel like it's almost on its last leg so it might get sold and replaced soon.
2.) My wife and I need our daily's indoors because it sucks balls to have to wake up and go scrape off your car in the morning while you wait for it to somewhat warm up.
3.) Wife doesn't want a car outside, she thinks it looks trashy anyway.

All good reasons! My old association used to not let us wash our cars outside...it was in the by-laws...although never enforced. No association in our next place...although that has drawbacks too.
Wish I were more help...I'd GUESS that there are solutions like renting a bay for the winter, but I don't know if that's cost prohibitive...maybe close/friend or fam with extra room in garage?

NeuronBob puts his in a storage unit - or at least he used to, I think. Late fall & winter would be a good time, prices typically go up in spring and summer for these sort of cars.
What I'd do - park the Expedition outside, and when the HOA complains, have them build you another garage. Fuck HOAs.

I've lived in one. once I moved, I promised I would do my best to avoid them in the future. we had the no washing car in the front of the house rule too... because a nasty ass car covered in dust and pollen is less of an eye sore than a freshly washed shiny one.

Thanks for the heads up on right time to buy. Only thing to coordinate will be to find a time when I can pick the car up and drive it home in between snow storms.
I'm seriously going to try looking for a 4 car garage in my next house or building a new house that way.
I'll see if my parents will let me take their third stall but it appears that my brother or sister will be using it for a while... Time to start looking for other storage solutions.

Oh yeah, total first world problem with where to store my fourth car even though only two people live in my home.
This place looks awesome but pricey...

For shits and giggles...how tall is your garage and do you have any unobstructed space on the ceiling above one of your other sedans? Another member posted on here that he had a lift installed and can pull the S2000 either under it, or put it on it, top down and park under. That'd be a cheaper solution to buying another house, at least.

I have plenty of height, roughly 15-17 feet of height in my garage. The only downside is that the floor isn't thick enough for a lift to be installed so I'd have to get the floor cut up and new footings poured to accommodate a lift. I've considered it but the total cost of putting it in would be in the $5-$7k range for a good, 4 post lift plus footings plus install (including electrical) which is too much for me to spend. I likely won't be in this house for a whole lot longer because it's our first home and we are looking to upgrade in 3ish years so I'm not sure I want to sink that much money into it for only 3 years of use. Next house will for sure have a lift.

Hoping to end up in my permanent home with my wife now...only 2 car (down from 3 car rental house) but it's an oversized 2...25' x 22' and aside from a 3 car wide driveway...there's a concrete pad along the side of the house behind a lockable fence that can also house another 3 cars, easily.

Most consumer lifts can run on 110 volt, I don't even leave it plugged in - I only plug in the lift when I need to lift the car up.
You don't need to bolt a 4-post lift to the ground and if you move you can take it with you.
Sorry for posting this again - but here is my lift installed in my garage...
I only have 10' ceilings, so it is a tight fit. A 15' ceiling in your garage would work a lot better.

I'm glad you did...I was trying to remember who the member was with the lift I was thinking about!
A 15' ceiling...you could park a land rover over it! But I wouldn't be able to hang my bikes on the ceiling without a step ladder. Good to know though...my new place is a 10'7" ceiling.

You sure it isn't thick enough? A 4-post lift doesn't need much (for a 9000 lb lift, it is 3.5" thick).

You don't have to bolt a 4 post to the ground? How do you ensure no movement or is it just heavy enough that it doesn't move? I'd buy one tomorrow if it all checked out.
Which lift did you buy and where did you get it from?

Our bikes are on the ceiling, we have bike hoists to raise and lower the bikes without a ladder. Works awesome.

hmm...I'll have to look into it again then. When I was scoping it out before, I was told that the floor wasn't thick enough. I'd assume I have at least 3.5" but I'll have to check it out again to be sure.

Haha, I'd have an Expedition to park under it, which would still actually work. My garage is huge though, the third stall is ~4 ft shorter than the 2 car part. I can park the Expedition in the third stall with enough room to open the tailgate glass, not the whole tailgate, and still have ~6 ft in front of the truck.

Quality is made by Challenger lifts, who are a fairly well known commercial lift manufacturer. Quality is their consumer version (lower lift weights, fits in a smaller garage).
My 4 post lift is not bolted to the floor, and it does not move. My garage is not 100% level (slopes down towards the front of the garage about 3" from back to front) - if your garage has a larger slope it could be an issue.
Posts about this - some people bolted it to the ground because they were nervous, but a lot of people do not have it bolted down and have had no issues: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=72374
Here are the concrete requirements according to Bendpak: http://www.bendpak.com/support/frequ...ked-questions/ (scroll down to "Do I need a special floor or foundation to support my new lift?"
My total cost for the lift was $3,700 including installation and longer length aluminum ramps since my S2000 is lowered it allows me to get onto the lift w/o scraping (a lot cheaper than buying a new house!). I would love to have a 3-car garage like you, or even a bigger garage - unfortunately real estate is super expensive in Northern Virginia. So, I am stuck with my tiny 2-car garage (it is only 19x19!) - I also have 4 cars for 2 people (I know - stupid) but our 2009 Civic sits outside.

^ Thanks, I'll definitely look into that over the next couple weeks. If I don't have to bolt it down, I'd be more apt to install one provided that my floor is thick enough...
I don't think I could get by with a 19x19 garage anymore, I'm now spoiled.

Thanks for posting the picture of the lift again. It's a plus that it doesn't require bolting.
My wife OK'd a garage extension last year but I haven't put any money to it. This is because in calculating the cost of the garage build compared to the cost of storage:
Storage bin 10 x 15 =$135 a month when I catch a sale, for 5 months a year=$675
Cost of adding a bay to the garage=$8-10k.
Not assured of adding significant value to my house in this poor environment for sales in Cleveland.
The garage costs the same as 14 years of storage. 14 years of storage takes me to age 60, when I'd be starting to think about downsizing for retirement.
A good lift, though.....$3000 + a few hundred for professional install.....
That's the same as 5 years and change of my typical winter storage cost. I'm more willing to look at that.
Right now, the two Pilots sit outside and the V and S2000 inside. The reason to store the S2000 during the winter, off site, is because the wife insists on a garaged space during the winter. Makes my life easier, too. A lift means both my S2000 and V wagon can live in the garage during the winter, and the wife gets her spot. My beater Pilot, being a beater, can stay outside.

One other question for LiQiCE, what kind of garage door opener do you have for the stall with the lift? Is it one that hooks to the spring on the side of the door?
Adding a lift would also bring about benefits in DIY auto work so that I don't have to crawl under my car to do any work...

and with the lift you can do a lot more than just for parking. oh don't forget about the cool factor.
