I've made the Houston > LA > Houston run 3 times, pre & post kids. Twice in an S550, once in the Flex
Vegas > LA > Vegas once - F150
Houston > Destin is easier, but still a long haul - Flex
Houston to Kansas City & back in the Malibu wasn't fun.
Longest I've done in any sporty car was as a passenger as a kid in a T-top Trans Am from Houston to Beaumont, under 2 hrs.
Was easier when I was younger & could be up all night. Now we split the driving on these long hauls.
Given the short expected range (and minimal storage capacity) of the Rotus, don't think it'll make any longer trips.

Since you've now gone down that road in the NSX...
I would imagine that the stock motor probably won't do it for you...
any plans for an SOS kit for it? I've been toying with the idea.
Not at all. I got all the need to add power thing out of me with the NSX. It's been enjoyable, but I'm thinking about putting the NSX back to stock power because of the increase in value, it's nuts! I'm not going to make that change immediately as I made those changes for me and not for others, but damn, the current market is sure making me think.
I plan to keep this S2000 close to stock for the forseeable future. I almost supercharged my last one and wisely chose instead (see earlier in this massive thread LOL) to sell the supercharger I'd bought, and invest that money in a faster car, while keeping the S2000. One of the best things about the S2000 is that you can wind it out in first and second gears without getting to felony speeding. I really need a car like that because the CTS-V, NSX, and even my RLX SH (it's a lot faster than it looks) are all fast.
I agree with you wholeheartedly and that's been what stops me from doing it. Aside from the $10K + that it costs to do it right...
plus, I literally can jump in the S2000 after it sits for a month and go across the state without a second thought. Love that thing...
At my local Cars and Coffee a couple of weekends ago. I've modded the car a little. Don't plan to go further than that other than to add Bluetooth to the stock radio.
OZ Alleggerita HLTs with Michelin Pilot PS4S tires, and Revel Tanabe Medalion exhaust. I originally planned to Plastidip the wheels white (thus the blue lug nuts for contrast), but the gunmetal color has grown on me.

You plan on using a interface of sorts or just using an FM transmitter?

My S2K is out of storage and on the road for another season.
I was able to score an OEM front lip in SSM from Si in the UK! It was expensive, but was something I never thought I would see (Brand new OEM lips for AP1). Now I have to decide which lip I want on it (I have the RSG Gears lip, too!).
I made some minor changes--smoked sidemarkers, Mugen titanium (?) lugs, some cheaper floormats to keep the Honda Access mats clean.
I have run into an issue that I hope someone can help with: I get a pronounced vibration at high speed. It seems to be coming from the rear of the car, but it occurs after acceleration and at 70mph+. I was talking to some guys at the local Cars & Coffee and they say its mounts -- either motor, trans or diff (or all of the above on an '00). I'm pretty sure its not CV buckets since I swapped them several years ago and more recently installed axle spacers to extend the life yet again. Also, the vibration is not on acceleration like I would expect from the axles. I had the wheels balanced and the vibration is still there. I have not put the car up on jackstands to examine the diff mounts. My understanding is I should look for leakage from the mounts to determine if they are bad. Any other suggestions?
I don't think the S2000 mounts are hydraulic...
I've swapped mine...trans are rare...rear diff mounts should also be obvious.
I got in there with a long pry bar and was able to see the engine lift...or maybe I put my phone on the mount recording video and then lifted the engine to watch it.
a new balance on the tires if they have worn might help...and I actually had a bad vibration after putting in new rear bearings and not tightening the axle nut enough.
Also thinking about this amazing DIY double DIN kit from Absolute Electronix that allows CarPlay and accomodates a rear camera. It uses a Sony head unit (AX 5500, 5600, 7000 are compatible) I'd have to roll without a radio door...(pic is not of my car)

Honestly, it looks a little like they tried too hard to make it fit and doesn't flow with the interior of the car. If you're okay going without the radio cover, why not just get a single-din flip out screen that supports CarPlay?

You don't need reverse cam in the S2000 and you shouldn't be doing fetish fruit play while driving anyway.
It's unsafe.
Keep it simple and do a regular single din pioneer radio upgrade if the grom connectivity doesn't satisfy the bluetooth streaming need IMO.
I've been following these things since they first introduced them. Absolute Electronix is semi-local to me (MD). As an owner of a Pioneer BT single DIN, I can say that about the only reason I would get one is to give Laurie something to do while she is in the car. Right now, all she has is a vent to play with while driving!
The logical thing to do is not bother with head units and use the volume control under your right foot. The sound system in a S2000 blows anyway, adding a head unit is pretty pointless other than for the BT connectivity. Forget about being able to talk on the phone though.
BT through the alpine unit with the plug and play alpine tiny amp power a set of JL components and a nice little 12" sitting in the trunk hole is PERFECT
to be able to enjoy music loud enough to hear and not distort with top down going 85mph.
I agree that it's not a must but if you like music as part of the driving experience...it's a worthy upgrade IMO.

Yah the wind noise will be the loudest thing you hear anything over 50mph
But getting a new head unit does help A LOT relatively speaking. It will never sound good but at least you could hear something like the background music other than the wind noise on the freeway.
I blew 3 of my 4 speakers within 1 month of ownership cuz i needed to turn it to max. With a new headunit and new speakers, the sound was acceptable. At least they last way longer than those shitty paper speakers.
I also dont think the 2 speakers in my headrest ever worked... if they did, i could not hear them.

The S2000 stock speakers were poly not paper! VERY decent for OEM.
Mine live a second life in the doors of my Dad's XJ Jeep.
Mine was POS (MY2005) .... Very NOT decent for OEM. All toasted within a month or 2. I had to change the HU and all 4 speakers.
I used the same HU from my 05 in the 07 but the stock 07 speakers held up until i sold the car.
i think i spent like $100 bucks for a set of new speakers back then and it was much much better with a new HU.
it wasn't the blue cone ones?
I've never seen anything but those.
Dont remember, it has been so long. But they did all get messed up soon after i got my 05 (brand new). That is when i learned how to install HU and speakers.
But i do remember the floppy buzzing sound of the blown speakers when the bass hits

Mine had rockford speakers and a new head unit, still couldn't hear shit unless you completely cranked it. Didn't have the ones in the headrest because my car was too old.

i have the same wheels on the 911... they are surprisingly light...
looking good Bob... glad to see the car coming along.
Looks great, it's expensive, but I think it's worth it. It all depends on the person. For me, I can't afford the AP1, so the AP2 is out of my reach. But for those who can afford it, it's still good.
yeah like sometimes I think I'm craving a pack of nathan's hot dogs but really vienna sausages are all that are in budget. Don't worry, man...in due time. You'll get what you're after.
