He has one, just can't talk about it ... or mention it ...to anybody.

The moment his wifey sees any additional Honda keys on the key rack, we'll never see Flipster again

In all honesty, I wouldn't even buy an S2k. There was a moment where I really wanted one.... But not so much anymore.

This is what most S2000-less people say in defense.

If I lived in Cali or FL, it would always be out on the road but alas I do not. Instead I enjoy a much lower COL and cheap gas.

Hey hey, we have cheap gas. 2.11 for regular is damn cheap here.

COL isn't too bad in Sacramento if you go to SF or LA area, that's when you get a studio for $1700 a month.

Yes. And shitty weather lol. There's a reason the COL is low and that's because not a ton of people want to live here but those that stay are the ones that stay because they want to and like it. Because of that, COL is low, crime is low, taxes are reasonable, education is top notch, infrastructure is top notch, and the unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the country.

Are you the only person in Cali that doesn't put on a parka as soon as the temperature is lower than 65?

The high here is 39, I didn't wear a jacket either. Come up here in January and we'll talk cold weather toughness.

In all seriousness, if we had the same weather as Cali, the COL here would be the same as you guys or higher. The cold just keeps the crazies out (or in depending on your perspective).

For me, the higher COL is worth the amenities you receive living out here.

Mountains, desert, and ocean all within a few hour drive from one another and I can choose to wear shorts and a t-shirt year around.

Only thing I'm not thrilled about is the traffic, but nothing compares to LA traffic. Ever.

Hory sheet!

In case you needed any more evidence that that Land Down Under is a strange and mysterious place, a man was able to purchase a new—yes, brand new—Honda S2000 from a dealership last month.

Honda seems to be back on the path of making some cars that people actually want to drive. The new Civic Type-R looks pretty bonkers and will probably have the performance to match. However, if there is one car that Honda fans would love to come back it’s the S2000. Despite the ongoing rumors the chances of you buying a new one is slim to none—unless you were this one lucky Australian guy.

According to CarAdvice.au, a single S2000 was spotted in monthly sales figures for Honda Australia. This seemed like a strange anomaly, until the website contacted the sales director for Honda who confirmed that a dealer in New South Wales had recently sold a new 2007 S2000 that it kept as a showroom car.

From the story:

It’s unclear what this person paid (though we’re enquiring) but the fact that the almost decade-old S2000 sale counted in VFACTS for November 2016 means it was un-delivered up to this point, because you can’t legally sell a VIN twice.

In 2008, the MY07-plated 176kW (at a screaming 8300rpm) and 208Nm 2.0-litre atmo S2000 convertible sold for $73,590 plus on-road costs.
Given how S2000 prices are creeping into collector status, the mystery buyer probably wasn’t able to take advantage of any depreciation.

Despite the fact that the steering wheel is on the wrong side, a bone stock, untouched new S2000 is quite a find.

After about 1 1/2 years since my last track day, I took the S2000 out to do some AutoX.

I invited a few friends from Orange County and we arrived early for tech inspection and most importantly some ride alongs.

Funny story about this Volvo.

I was in Home Depot a few months back and met this cool fello in the parking lot. He invited me out to SCCA's AutoX events and gave me an event schedule card. Just so happened to catch him at the practice event

Since my last track day, I've upgraded to better tires and a front sway bar. The car was very predictable, grip up front was amazing when the tires were warm.

I managed to watch 2 run groups and the fastest time I saw a similar setup S2000 was 63 seconds and some change. I managed to hit a clean run of 65.7 on my last lap

Lots of room for improvement, but I hit my time goals and I'm happy with the results.

Favorite ride along experience BY FAR was the Porsche Cayman S. The car felt so planted and predictable over the rougher bumps and of course the sound of the 3.4 N/A engine is

Rough times I recall from other cars:

2013-ish Mustang 5.0: 72 sec
Focus ST: 69 sec
Cammed out 2012+ Camaro SS: 67 sec
Stock AP1 S2000 except for summer tires: 66 sec
Cayman S: 64 sec
Caged & Stripped E36 M3: 62 sec

Thanks for reading.

I've had more Porsche passenger seat time this month than any other and it's giving me bad bad bad ideas.

I too catch myself cruising C-List for a nice Boxster or Cayman...only downside is that the only ones I want are the S models and the only ones I can afford are the non-S models...so I wait for the depreciation to continue...

I'm in the same boat.

Cheapest reasonable mileage 2007/2008 Cayman S I found was in the mid 20s. That's a lot of cheese for a toy.

Damn, I should start shopping in CA... There are zero Caymans available here and only a handful of Boxsters of which only one is an S and it's going for mid 20's.

If I were to get one, I'd sell the S which I can get a pretty good ROI on so it might be an even trade with a bit of cash from me...we'll see. I still want that FoRS and to trim the fleet from 3 to 2 vehicles so I can work in my garage.

You guys realize S2000s are in the mid-20s as well?

If I had to go to another car in a higher price bracket than mine, it would be a Cayman. Got a buddy with an 06. Sort of aware of their issues now, but he loves the thing. Each time an M3 or a Cayman blows by me on the track, I die a little inside and come that much closer to ze dark seite.

That's just CA pricing

I was talking to an ex-Porsche salesman about looking to buy an s2000 and he told me to look at an older gen 996 for roughly the same price.. I never liked P-Cars at first but they're starting to grow on me..
