You are a disappoint, GTFO

Haha, but guess I should go to you if I want a DIY on oil change or something. You seem to know these cars really well, do you have one?

He seems to know all modern Hondas well.

Nice pickup for your mom! RRPs are pretty rare, sad because it's such a nice colour.

Lol. Ive got a CL, but my entire family has Hondas. Im familiar with most of them since the 80s, aside from the 5cyl TLs.

There are currently 4 Accords in my immediate family - 1 6th gen, 1 7th gen and 2 8th gens. Its pretty nice how similar the cars are, from the Accord to the CL to the Odyssey to the Pilot. Its nearly identical from underneath.

That color really pops. I wish my mom had that instead of Tafetta white when she had her 7th gen.

How many miles are on it?

Hmm, this would be our family's second Honda, after my CL. 76k on the odo.(one owner too) The color really does look amazing.

Which is the most reliable for you guys, like v6 vs I4 or 4 vs 5sp., or are they all pretty much the same like you said?

Depends on what youre doing with it.

I used my moms 04 V6 5AT sedan for half my senior year of highschool and I loved it. The power was pretty good, and I averaged 32mpg a few times driving from NY to VA. In hindsight, it needed more torque, but I didnt know what torque was at the time

My sister has an 06 i4 coupe. She just drove back to Vegas from LA and she said she was getting 34mpg doing about 80-85mph.

As far as reliability goes, theyre all pretty good. Obviously the v6s had the same tranny issues the TL and CL had. But I haven't heard of any issues with the 5 speed autos in the 4 bangers. I love K motors too It can be a bitch to reach the oil filter though, but IIRC the Accord has enough space between the engine and the firewall that you can easily get to it. IIRC its the RSX thats a pain in the ass. I always had a problem squeezing between the rear crossmember, engine block and exhaust manifold to get to the filter without getting a nice oil shower.

If you want to check for recalls on it, sign up for Hondas Owner Link and put the VIN in when you add a vehicle. It should show you everything there.

Here are the possible recalls on the 2003 models:

I see you're still not considering that Civic an actual car yet then huh, civicdrvr?

Anyways, my 03 I4's been problem-free, and I'm pretty happy with it. It's also managed to avoid Honda's worst of the early 2000's, like the transmissions not transmitting, or the airbags embedding chopped metal into your face.

Keep up with maintenance, and it'll be a great partner. Fall back on maintenance, and it'll be like a lazy teenager: It'll still get the job done, but grudgingly

you see the value of both, and he pays the difference on the trade. (thats more then he's probably willing to stack on top though)

but if he was willing to add the 6k difference i'd do it .

you can buy an 03-06 for many years to come... clean del sols are dissapearing at an alarming rate..

not saying you should trade.. but if you want to own one... doing it in the near future would be in your best interest.

^ I agree. Clean Del Sols are hard to come by now-a-days. I remember I was dead set on getting a black on black Del Sol Si in college. Never happened, but there's still something about a nicely done Del Sol that still makes me

Can you provide more details, Mark?

something close to this with normal colored wheels.

Kinda split on the Del Sol. I always thought it was supposed to be a CRX replacement, but I don't think it's particularly good as one. It's too cutesy.

Any early 7th genners getting rust? It looks like it's about time for the ones not well taken care of to give in. I found a tiny spot of rust on the edge of my door where there was a nick in the paint, and one in a rock chip on the hood. I was thinking of trying to scrape off the rust, and applying some touch-up paint. Would this work?

As far as prevention, best thing I can think of is a coat of wax all around at all times.

Ive always been an EF person, so naturally I dont like the Del Sol because it was supposedly the replacement for the CR-X.

And EGs

i just really like the whole idea of the targa top...

its a reminder of how bold and fun honda once was...

sure the S2000 was a vert.. but how many cars in the price range of the sol back then came in a Targa? that was just pure genius.. granted they werent around long.. but i for one love the IDEA of the sol...

the crx was a great car too.. its styling was just outdated at the end of its run.

^ Me, too. To think you could have a relatively flickable Honda with a targa top was a really cool thing. Oh, and I meant a black on black VTEC, not Si, forgot there was a difference between the two.

The problem with most examples of modified Del Sols out there is the addition of some fugly oversized body kit and undersized cheapo wheels. If done right, they can look great with just a drop and nice wheels IMO.

94 Del Sol with a B16A JDM Engine, paint is a Mercedes Glacier White Paint Job, never winter/snow driven. Mods are a CAI, Catback SS Exhaust, Momo Short Shifter and Knob and an Eibach Sportsline 1.8'' drop. Body has 130k miles and swapped motor has a bit less than 60k miles.

I like the idea but I hardly see it being as practical as the Accord for the few days I need it in a month.
