I really like the E550 but am having a hard time justifying a 1K+ a month lease payment. It just doesn't make sense...
The 335i has almost 100 more hp than my TSX, turbo, and is a coupe. While i may ultimately be turned off by the interior (thought it was meh last time I saw it) it is a MUCH better decision for me...
I am not one to generally get the most car I can afford... I never want to regret the decision and I think if I was dumping over 1K into a E550 a month for a lease I would regret it.

I know, I know, I only mentionned it because I recall Stogie being interested in one.
Stogie,
I see where you're coming from. 1k a month on a lease is a steep amount of money to pay over a long period of time if you are not comfortable with it. My comment was intended more as a joke. The 335i coupe is a very capable car that will hopefully make you as happy as mine did a few years ago; as for the interior if you're willing to play with the colors a bit, it'll make it a little less monotonous.

Oh boy.
Having personally made the move from a TSX to a 335i, I can still remember that first test drive. It probably felt like just having injected a dose of heroin. I was hooked.
If you have the means (financially), do it.

Got to drive this car with prototype springs
http://www.tanabe-usa.com/rnd/post/E...prings-RD.aspx
It was my first ever drive in a BMW. I must say I really like the steering feel of the car.... but since the car was on run flat tires it didn't handle that well. The only real gripe I have against the car is that there seems to be a long lag from when you press the pedal and the initial acceleration... drive by wire problem? Every time I tried to open the front windows, I ended up opening the rear windows. That was quite annoying!

Delay? Must be automatic?
The automatics will have a lag for awhile until it adapts to your driving style. Then the lag wont be as noticeable.
Should put it in DS mode then its very responsive.

Yeah it's an auto, she couldn't drive stick. DS Mode is left of the Drive mode right? I thought you had to shift up/down yourself manually? I played with the shifting but it was the opposite of the Porsche so I got really confused and out of fear of screwing up her car I just left it in D

Personally I'd love to get a new M3 sedan, but the $$$ and the need to drive it all year keep putting me off. Winter tires and rims aren't cheap either for the M3. The 335i is nice alternative, but I feel like I would always regret not getting the M3...
I like the S4 which is also no slouch, but no dealerships around me have any to check out in person or test drive. I just can't consider getting a car without actually trying one out.

Just curious...Have you actually seen to 2011 Stang? I didn't expect them to be as nice as they are.

I went into this into detail in my TSX thread, but I decided to test drive a CPO 328i for comparison after trying out a 2006 TSX (which I couldn't quite convince myself to buy). I even told the salesman I just wanted to see what it was like, and he knew just the right road. In short, freshly-toasted damn was it ever good. Awesomely, stupendously good. Afterwards, I told the salesman I should pay him for the amusement park ride.

Thanks. Really looking forward to the test drive (hopefully on Sunday).

i have been thinking of replacing the integra with a tsx rsx civic or 3 series. We've always had honda or toyota products and know their reliability.
Every once in a while the 02-04 3 series comes up. I am thinking about spending only about 10k and that should get me something under 80k miles.
are there normal things that break that are rediculously expensive or are they relatively troublefree?
If i searched for an 02-04 is about 10k reasonable or too little money?

Edit - In my area, there are 01-04 or so 3-Series cars listed for around $10k or less, typically with around 70K-110K miles. I've only searched for manuals, but there are a lot more to choose from before I select that filter.
At any rate, I was considering them, too, but after reading about the issues, I'm thinking maybe I should watch for an even older one and work on it myself.

I am looking for what is apparently a difficult to find color combo. Should I expect to pay more or not get as good a deal if the car has to be ordered as oposed to shipped from a different dealer?
Incidentally, the only car with my color combo is in SF.
Deep Sea Blue Metallic
Saddle Brown Dakota leather
Aluminum trim

Ordering a car shouldnt be any more or less than on a lot.
I have always ordered (328i was a dealer trade) and you still shouldnt be paying more than $500-1k over invoice regardless of which way you get the car.
If they trade with another dealer then they MIGHT charge you an extra $500 to get it.
