My take on my new 2016 ILX
Hey So this is my first post here, not sure if this is even the right subforum to post but anyway hello!
A Little Background, I am a true car enthusiest. I use to live in Washington State and have moved recently to sunny Southern California. I live by all the popular roads you always see on youtube, Mullholland and PCH just to name a couple.
I am an avid enthusiest for all things that go vroom and have wheels. I Have owned more cars then I can count. 2014 BMW 335i Sportline, 2010 BMW 750li, 2010 Aston Martin v8 Vantage, 2013 TSX-SE , 2003 Civic Si and the list goes on. I just love cars, and buy them figure out I can't afford all of them and sell them. I also have a weird fascination for Panther Body Style Crown Victoria Police Interceptors. Don't ask, I just always end up adding at least one to my line-up. Currently have two 2011 with very low miles that I picked up from a police auction.
So anyhow, the only vehicle that I have leased is my TSX-SE and the lease just came up for renewal, and I had the chance to go get any car I wanted. I had a simple requirement, lower monthly payments and a nice car I could enjoy out on the canyons but not feel terrible if I were to loan the car to family member.
So I was tacked with the subcompact luxury class. And all set aside I was blown away by the ILX. My TSX treated me well, and have owned BMW's before I really wasn't looking to get into another German car. Both the seven series and the 335i (even with its awesome maintenance free warranty) always ended up in service longer then I got to drive them. And the TSX in the three years I owned it went in once for a small warranty related item on it's starter. Nothing wrong with it just made extra noise and Acura took care of it immediately. So that being said, I already had a slightly biased opinion to where I was headed. And now I own a brilliant Bellanova White ACURA ILX Premium. (Read further to understand my reasoning for not getting A-Spec) Yes, Premium, I did not feel I needed the active lane keep assist or Navi as I much prefer using the hdmi dongle and using my iphones map function.
My take on my all new 2016 ILX; a lot of mixed reviews, either really in favor or really against this awesome car. I wan't to point out, the Honda Civic is not a competitor to the ILX. The ILX is loosely based off the civic platform but so was the TSX. Apple's to apples the new Civic even in full touring form is a commuter car. It is very nicely appointed and even has a small turbo to boot, but still only manages to make 174 HP. The ILX makes over 200 horses and put's the power down far more efficiently then even the German rivals. The civic has a CVT transmission that is literally the best option for it's segment. MPG. The CVT literally kills every good thing about the new civic. It really should be able to get out of it's own way but can't because its bogged down by this infinite gearing system. And yes, you can get the fully loaded touring model with the same bells and whistles as the fully loaded ILX, but the ILX has something that even cars twice if not three times it's price don't. A fantastic piece of art called a Dual-Clutch 8 Speed Transmission. The thing shifts and rev matches harmonically. It is a completely different experience even moving from my TSX which essentially has the same motor. It's light on its feet and the MCpherson front and multi link rear suspension is dialed in and set up to the T. It is honestly magical, telepathic if you will. I'm really happy with the choice, it really handles itself far better then these cookie-cutter reviewers have it laid out to be. The only review that gives this car even remote justice is TFL. They review it spot on. I know, I pulled the trigger and bought it. It pulls harder to sixty then the TSX did, and is loaded with tech. I opted for basically every option in the book outside of the A-spec package. And I have very good reasoning why I did. Yes the A-spec model looks great with the upgraded 18 inch machined wheels and the fog lights, but that's all the A-spec is. Some wheels and fog lamps. My reasoning is extremely logical and I advise that you do the same if you plan on picking one of these up. The 18 inch wheels have very thin tread, and all that work acura put into sound deadening goes out the damn window. The tread on the 17 inch wheels are specifically designed to have excellent grip and virtually zero road noise, they also insulate the 17 inch wheel with a plate that returns no vibrations and unwanted road noise into the cabin. That paired with the speaker decibel system that drowns out sound makes the car quite as hell. (Eerily quite even) Second, the fog lights are Halogen, Acura invested millions of dollars into developing these extremely clear jewel eye LED lights that light up the road amazingly (Fog or Not) why drown out the beautiful lights with bolt on halogen fog lights? I still got the accented body kit for additional sexiness and the car looks brilliant. I am so very happy with my purchase, and with as many great cars that I get to drive on a daily bases I no longer have the need to drive a car just because of it's badge or dimensions. Yes, folks I'm driving a premium luxury sub-compact. Deal with it, because I freaking love it.

There's so much erroneous information in your post, I'm not even gonna bother fixing it
Either way, glad you enjoy the car. Hope it brings you many trouble free miles for years to come

First off... welcome! Car Talk is a bit more, how should we say... relaxed compared to the model forums. So just a heads-up
The Acura ILX forum is here: Acura ILX Discussion - AcuraZine Community . That forum is where you'll get good model info and be able to share with like minded members.
As we're in Car Talk... I'm with CLtotheTL.... more about the Aston please

The Vantage was my dream car, and in my term of ownership basically became my most hated car.
I spent months trying to track down the one I wanted. Ended up getting one at a local Aston Martin Dealership that is fairly known in Bellevue, WA. I was confident I wanted a v8 vantage, and because I'm for all things with awesome transmissions I opted to take a risk and go for the sportshift as opposed to to the manual.
They tracked down the exact specs, Casino Royale Exterior (Metallic beige, silver, greyish) on Iron Ore Red interior. The only downside was it had higher miles at around 28,000, which for an Aston is equivalent to a 100k mile BMW
When I took delivery of the car I was in heaven. Everywhere I went people would come up and strike up a conversation. But that's about it. That's the enjoyment I got out of it because the sportshift single-clutch semi automated transmission was a pile.
It was not usable. The car would stall. Yes STALL. If The car was crawling and I didn't apply enough gas it would leave me wasted in the middle of an intersection. And honestly you can't look anymore or less then an enormous d-bag when you've stalled your Aston.
Then to cut the story short 3 months into it the car stopped getting into gear, and the joy of owning a super car turned into a nightmare.
But the car had it's positives, more negatives, but it did have some upside. My favorite feature was the Bang&Olufsen sound system. Yes the v8 was great but if you really wanted to hear the engine pur you had red and blue lights behind you faster then you could blink. So I learned to enjoy the music. The speakers would rise up out of the Dash when you turned the stereo on and acoustically it was almost better then going to a concert.
But that's really the biggest highlight. I'm not even going to get into the akward e-brake placement on the left driver side, or the horrible volvo based nav screen that would get stuck when it was flipping on.
It was cool, I got it out of my system, but if I had to do it again, I would explore a standard manual vantage, but even then I'm not so sure I would pull the trigger.

2016 Honda Civic 1.5T Dyno Suggests Underrated Horsepower, Torque
Since it first debuted late last year, the 10th-generation 2016 Honda Civic has been touted by many as a return to form for the compact car. The new model is the first vehicle in Honda’s U.S. lineup to feature an available turbocharged engine, a four-cylinder unit rated at 174 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque and hooked up to a CVT. But a new video hints that it might make a bit more than that
Renowned Honda tuner Hondata recently posted a video of a 2016 Civic Touring at the dyno, where it measured how much power the car is really making at the wheels. The results are nothing short of impressive because, according to the dyno chart, the 2016 Civic makes 177 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. Hondata also compared the new Civic turbo with a ninth-generation Civic Si on the drag strip and found that the 2016 Civic with the turbo-four was quicker in a straight line despite having less horsepower.

And the ILX isn't?
Horsepower isn't everything. Is the ILX faster? Yes. But not as fast as you think it may be.

Interesting on paper specs.
I remember once upon a time an old man with a beard told me everything on the internet was true.
As for the comparisons of cars that offer a DCT, read what you listed. The only car that really can be even remotely comparable is the GTI. And honestly, as hesitant as I was about a Torque-converter in a DCT it drives in the real world far superior to just standard DCT's. I think long gone is the days we would be afraid of TC transmissions. I remember when 997 carrera's had tips with TC in them and no one bought automatics. Then Porsche introduced PDK and everyone was all over them.
And yes I realise what I wrote about DCT's being in cars multiple times more expensive, but let's be real, I was talking about usable good ones. You can probably get a DCT in a Chinese scooter nowadays doesn't mean it's any good. The ILX has a superb transmission.
And to follow that up, based on my experience with cars, that's what ultimately defines how the car performs.
No I'm not an enthusiast, I bought an ILX. I officially lost my title.
I'm gonna go tear up some canyon back roads now, and punish myself for losing my enthusiast badge. I'm also going into my garage and throwing away the keys to every other car I own because I apparently can only own one car.

lol, we talked about how he was fed up with owning the bmw and aston martin, and how he had really good experience with his leased TSX, hence he went for the ILX.

I think you're missing the point where OP claimed to have a 100k+ GT car and settled on an entry level Acura, calling it the best thing since sliced bread. I mean, I could think of at least 10 other, slightly more expensive and way more upscale cars that did rather buy... Not saying the ILX is bad, but there seems to be something weary about the initial story.
"I can (supposedly) afford a super expensive GT car, but shit, I'll settle for the tiny, entry level car instead"

Don't take it personally as it's all in fun. We have a good group, but they like to break in the noobs
One other thing... even if it's your personal opinion, it will be wrong. We have a few here who will point that out.
Enjoy

^^ I Don't know why I could not post that?
No harm no foul, I can handle these guys don't worry. I've got a day off and I need some entertainment.
Let's all play a game.
Piece together my life story because I gave a snippet of my passion behind cars. I'm in tears. (The funny kind) Thanks everyone.
I will not clarify, I will be vague... and go!

I see a black 2013 TSX SE, base 8th gen Civic, Mitsubishi Eclipse with plasti dip rims, a bike, etc. at @skwrl10r Instagram photos | Websta (Webstagram)
but no Aston Vantage, BMW 750 Li, BMW 335i, etc. though.
Maybe those belonged to the auto broker he works for/worked at???

C'mon man. You can't just stroll in without some pics of your new car. And you especially can't start name dropping prior cars without more pics.
So make with the pics. Especially that amazing and rare beast; the apex predator of your list... the TSX-SE .
So get to it bub!

My socks on fleek doe.
And apparently there might be some fapping to my photos, please refrain from damaging any hardware in the event.

You don't have to be a dick about it. It's silly to expect people to completely buy everything you are saying, without knowing a thing about you.
Not *everyone* owns an AM, and if you come talking about one and people see potential holes in your story, they're gonna jump on them. There's enough guys who've come and gone who claimed to be uber rich, only to be completely full of shit.
I think you'll do alright around AZ. It definitely helps to not take things seriously though.

Cars are beautiful through all walks of life, each one has it's own unique story and that's what I love about them. I'm here to see unique expressions and learn, and sometime voice an opinion.
And too reply about your best thing since sliced bread, same concept applies. The ILX is an exciting slot for me, and I will not name drop my cars anymore just as obviously that's taken us off topic. I will however say I'm personally impressed with it far beyond the "better" more expensive cars you've stated. I just saw it fit, and I leased it. And again I'm thrilled.
