Grammar called. It wants you to go back to grade 4 before you start shitting on 3G members.

Wait.

So OP went from a new 335i to a used 7 series to an Aston Martin to a used TSX to an even more used Civic to a couple beat to shit police cars to a new ILX?

Good lord, do you play the stock market?

And after all that you write up this post about the ILX and not about the three far more desirable cars you've owned?

Am I missing something? I thought this was an Acura forum?

And its safe to assume you went from a 2004 Honda S2000 to a econo CUV 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk then lost it and went and drive your wifes 2007 Honda Accord EX-L?

Maybe he didn't really own them? Instead he got to drive it home and during after hours. I knew someone that worked at a smaller car dealership and he was always driving a different BMW, Mercedes, and Audi every time.

maff is hard.

I only have one hand to count on because I use the other to point so I don't lose track.

I'm sure that dealership insurance company would be thrilled if they found out.

"Hey boss?"

"Yo"

"I kinda just rear-ended an old lady in an impala"

"OH perfect, let me make sure you're clocked in to collect."

"Thanks boss, can I get the audi tomorrow?"

"Absolutely bud"

Perfect.

Well you can probably safely assume that I own all of those cars right now...and can back it up with evidence and that they are all better than the "luxury" ILX. I bet my "econo CUV" would be pretty much as fast and can drive up a mountain too.

Well this may be an Acura forum. But you posted in Car Talk. If you want anyone to care about your ILX, you will need to go post it in the ILX sub forum.

I know someone who does that. He will take what ever car is by the door on his way out every night.

I've known a few guys working at dealerships who would always be driving new cars home, based on their monthly performance. They would have to hit a certain quota and be eligible for a certain priced car. The more they sold, the better the car they got to drive. They always had dealer plates on them too.

It wasn't geared towards a guy hitting X number of cars in one month, but rather, month after month. And the dealership would reward the high sellers with essentially driving a free vehicle for a few months. Performance still up to par? Here's another new car for you to drive. After 3 months or so, the car would be sold as a demo vehicle.

I dunno, maybe stuff is different in the US, but it's common practice here. Not breaking the law or anything either.

Well first off the dealer who does that could very well be breaking a law. Especially if the car is dealer plated and being used for personal use. Second, even if the law is not being broken, the small car dealers that do that are summing tons of risk in monetary damages. All you would need to happen is cause personal injury and bye-bye dealership. Because that insurance company is just gonna right back to you after your claim and tell you how they are not responsible for the vehicle because it was being driven by an employee off the clock off the lot. Not saying it doesn't happen, it's just extremely stupid when it does.

quick google search and this is just Michigan, I'm sure you could just as easily pull the codes up for CA or any other state.

Proper Uses of Vehicles Bearing Dealer Plates Include:

Employees, servants, or agents of a dealer may operate a vehicle owned by a dealer for any purpose, provided that the vehicle is not a "service vehicle." This group of permissive users includes the dealer, full and part-time employees, and authorized agents. Examples of proper use of dealer plates on vehicles include: Dealer-owned vehicles being driven to and from repair facilities, storage lots, and other locations where vehicles are being held prior to sale. Dealer-owned vehicles being moved to locations where they may be bought or sold. Dealer-owned vehicles driven by employees, servants or agents, or family members for any use except as a service vehicle.
There is no time limit upon the use of a vehicle with a dealer plate for persons described in paragraph 1 above.
A prospective customer of a dealership may operate a vehicle owned by the dealership for testing or demonstration purposes for no more than 72 hours.
A person who has purchased a vehicle from a dealership may operate the vehicle on a dealer plate for up to 72 hours after taking possession of the vehicle if an application for vehicle registration has been made and the purchaser carries proof of purchase that indicates the date of sale.

Well, it ended up being a woodpecker... Which makes a hell of a lot more sense, because how would a bullfrog even get that far up in a tree?

Felt so dumb after I figured that out!

Of all things a dealership can break the law for, I'd imagine giving a few of it's employees a free car isn't one of them. If it is illegal, no one would do it and no one would have the upper hand in hiring good sales people. Why would they? There wold be zero incentive for them to break the law in such a regard.

I'm also not talking about some shitty used car lot, either. I'm talking about full fledged dealerships part of large dealership groups, that own 20+ dealerships.

I think there might be more to this here in the arctic, but I really don't know.

How did you drive your TSX AND 7 series at the same time? picture does not compute.

How did you drive your 335 and crown to the gas station at the same time?

I'm just gonna leave now. Something smells iffy about those whole situation and I really don't want to get into it

Again we can delve into problem after problem if we are talking about driving a dealer car off the lot.

However of course dealership add insensitive with cheap employee leases etc. There is no problem if the dealer is flat out giving there employee a car to drive home. But there will always be a problem with both tax because dealer cars are wholesale therefor not registered, secondly insurance issues.

So yes, your spot on, dealers will always have intensive to treat there employees right, however they can't just willy nilly tell the employee to drive whatever they want.

Plus dealers, especially new car dealers, want there employees to drive the brand. And I'm sure they do track days even or off-road whatever, but again the insurance must be in place for lower liability, and the cars need some form of registration so the dealer doesn't look like they are skimming taxes.

Nice TSX!

Acura of Lynnwood sounds familiar. I think I went back and forth with them when I bought mine. Up near Seattle?

It's the only Acura North of Seattle.

'14 SportWagon. After all was said and done, there were exactly two wagon's available in the country configured how I wanted (there were other I'd be making concessions on) and one just so happened to pop up at a dealer in Houston.

I was able to leverage my nationwide search into getting them to beat a price offered in California. If I remember, Lynnwood was pretty high on list price and didn't really seem interested in playing ball. Que sera sera.

It worked out splendidly! I was expecting to buy and need to wait a week to have it shipped into state, but as it was, I just drive over and picked it up.
