My new commuter

Bought this 1992 VW GTI 8v 2.0 to eat up the miles. Its a great little car, gets 35mpg and is pretty quick! Has a dent on the driver side but will fix that sometime.

Awesome!

One thing to check, make sure the heater core is in good shape, they are prone to failure in that generation.

I'm jealous....

Nice pickup. Those are neat little cars. As long as the heater, defroster, and radio work, it should be a great commuter. Also, low on the "steal me" meter.

Nice. I may be picking up a beater sometime next year, considering I'm on pace to put 30k on the TL a year.

My favorite GTI. Those things are go-carts. I am looking for a clean one for a DD as well VR6 swap or leaving as is?

I had a mkII VW a number of years ago, it was a great little drivers car. Kind of a shame VW has drifted so far from cars like this, they established the following that they have to this day.

^Really? I always loved the big single hydrolic Mercedes Benz wipers they had on the S/E class in the mid-90s.

Beautiful pickup OP, I love that model of Golf, it's gotta be quite a hoot to drive around.

Thanks for the comments guys! It is very much a blast to drive, it does handle just like a go-kart like someone mentioned lol. Ya iv been having to listen to CD's cause i guess these cars are notorious for having bad radio signals..

HORRIBLE radio reception, all Mark I and II's had that problem. Ipod dock and you are good to go.

You can find parts for this car on craigslist very easily and cheap. And there pretty easy to work on yourself if your somewhat mechanical.

interesting, but unfortunately, i'm not mechanical. i would probably get the parts cheap and go to a local mechanic who specializes in fixing vw's or european cars.
