wow, just wow. I thought it was odd when this post popped up and I almost wrote on pg 1 about the 49K sold for price and what he said he paid but figured I would keep quiet. At this point dude, you are an idiot to think you are getting an M3 in good condition. You either aren't getting it or getting a damaged car.

Update from Dave:
Dave,
While I am disappointed by the situation, as I am sure you are, I do
understand and will try to sell the BMW to the other party, if they are
still in the market. I am assuming that you understand that EBAY has charged
us a final value fee based upon the sale which will cost us around $160.00
in addition to the new listing.
I should be able to find out about the other buyer within the next few days
and as soon as the car is sold we will return your deposit minus any related
transaction charges. Please let me know if anything changes, this is a great
car and one that is worth the sale price!
Thanks
Joe

Update from Dave 4/12:
Update (start of the run around)
Dave, as I explained last week the refund will not be returned until the car
has been sold due to the fact that you eliminated a buyer on the vehicle
when you bid. Once the car is sold we will then deduct the charges for the
initial listing as well as any other costs incurred as a result of your
failure to execute the purchase. I will keep you updated as to when the car
is sold and then we will address the balance of the deposit.

Update from Dave 4/12:
im actualli buying doing the euro pick in a month on a 2011 m3 fully loaded with competion package for just over 60 k, im gona spend the extra for something better than a used , and im planing on just drive it for about a year and ill be able to get back the same 60k for it, im planing to do this euro pick up every year now, if you havn't herd of it ,pm me for more info, they give the wholesale price 49k + whatever options i want came up to 60 k fully loaded and the msrp is like 74k , so its a big saving, i read of so many ppl doing it on m3 post, im getting the extact same price as the dealers do and just a $400 few over invoice, and all i have to do is go to munich and pick it up at the bmw factory with 2 weeks free insurance, drive it anywhere i want and then just drop it to the shipping company and wait for it to come back to the states where ill pick it up in MD or i can just go to BMW welt where i pick the car up at 1st and give the 60 euro and they will drop it to the shipping company ,i think its well worth it ,and it sounds like a great experience

OP...just a word of advice in case you plan on doing the European delivery with a new M3.
From the update you wrote posted by juniorbean, it sounds like you think you'll be getting the Euro discount for doing the Euro Delivery. With BMW's, that applies to all cars EXCEPT and ///M vehicles. You cannot get the European discount if you are planning on getting an M3. You'll be paying MSRP (or whatever was negotiated..but not $60K for a loaded one). Just something to be aware of so you realize what you're getting into.

Its crappy the dealer wont refund the deposit. Just have him pay the $160 in listing fees and then they should refund him. No excuses.
And no, you wont be able to drive the car for a year and get anywhere near $60k for it used. M3 resale isnt thats friendly.
At $74k sticker, Euro Delivery invoice is around $63,700. Big savings but you also have to pay for airfare and hotel. Excellent experience though and i enjoyed it myself.

Naw, they changed that rule in February 2009. Its when i placed my order for Euro Delivery.

For some reason I thought I read on BMW's website just a few weeks ago (when I was "dreaming" of my M3 ), I thought I read that it didn't apply to ///M's. Just went and checked though...guess I'm wrong.

I'd do it anyways just for the experience...and the fact that it's cheaper (the car at least...). It's not like we have an autobahn here.
I wouldn't sell the damn thing after a year though.

dose this look good?
Base Price Euro Delivery Munich Pick Up $49,965
2MK M Double-clutch Transmission with Drivelogic $2,640
6FL iPod and USB adapter $365
6NF Smartphone Integration $135
Packages
ZCP Competition Package $2,275
ZCW Cold Weather Package $685
ZPP Premium Package $1,820
ZTP Technology Package
(In combination with ZCP) $2,275
507 Park Distance Control (rear only) $345
Destination & Handling $875
Gaz Guzzler Tax $1,300

Total $63085 +$1000 more for travel expenses
say $64k total, not that bad when u think thats its a 2011, and fully loaded
even if i get back 55K in a year, ill do the euro pickup again and maybe get a x6 M
this is not the cheapest route to getting a m3 , but i think its probably one of the best ways, and my mind will be at peace knowing it wont have any issues

You cant do ED for a X6M, its not made in Germany.

Where are you getting the $49,965 number?
I'm seeing BMW's site as saying
$51,520 for a sedan, and $54,310 for the coupe (euro-delivery).
I'm not trying to discourage from getting the M3. I sure as hell would take one. Just trying to help another AZ guy out to avoid getting into surprises or pinches when it comes to the not so fun part ($$$$$$).
#391
What's the hurry to sell it and buy another?

I'm pretty sure he is.
At this point, don't be surprised if people stop trying to tell you what you should really do. If you are going to make each successive decision worse than the last, there's no point.
Pay a $10k fee to drive a BMW around for a year? If you say so.
