My New Car!!!=D

It was tongue in cheek. Then again if you hadn't posted this thread, some of us might not have caught it.
The basic rule of "If it sounds too good to be true, then it is" applies universally... and yeah, there's no way I would buy something if I couldn't check it out personally or have someone very knowledgeable and that I knew personally and trusted to look at the car.

I wish I could check out the car for you, but unfortunately I won't have any free time for at least two weeks. If Crazy Sellout can't go, post in the Chicago subforum. I'm sure there is someone closer to Naperville then both of us.
I know for sure that Chris Hill's dad (Joe Hill) does indeed wholesale cars. Not saying that this is a scam, but it's more or less a "buyer beware" type of deal. With their shady past and present, you need to double/triple check everything.
I think you have learned a lesson, but never wire any sort of money to anyone. There are others ways you can reassure your legitimacy to the seller. Purchasing a car "site unseen" is pretty crazy. I actually did the same thing with my NSX but I had an independent Acura dealership check the car out and fax me the report. There are other things you can do to protect yourself and threads that dish helpful hints when buying an out-of-state car.

If you haven't arranged this, you should DEFINITELY ask the seller if he would be willing to bring the car to an independent BMW dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. You would be required to pay the bill (might be $100-$300), but a small price to pay and reassurance that the car is fine.

In today's day and age this is ridiculous. This is a buyer's market and these types of terms need to be negotiated. The seller just wants reassurance you are legit. There are plenty of options out there if you are patient. When sellers want money wired, large deposits, etc., I walk.

This is what I did which worked out great. Seller had an account with a "national bank" (a bank with branches in various cities). I created an account with this bank and made a deposit. I flew to the seller's city and he picked me up from the airport. We then went to check out the car. Once I did my inspection, we drove to the bank. We met with a bank manager, explained the situation and we then transferred the money to the seller's account. Title was exchanged and my Bill of sale was notarized and signed off by the bank manager. He gave me the title and other documents on the spot. He then dropped me off @ my new car and I drove home.
ill guess ill do it this way, do they have bank of america in chicago?

Even if the car checks out to be fine, i still would have a hard time giving $49k to some hick dealer that doesnt even have a website or any information about them on the internet.
Or am i just being too paranoid?

We are just givin you a hard time... ... I am laughin with you, not at you... I think it is really great that you have a mind to try to have really nice things and you actually have a means for paying for them... you are not spending all youre time trying to rip people off or some similar to that... so take our advice and hard times with a grain of salt and know that if we did not care... this would have been a very short thread.

This is pure speculation, but I have a hunch that the pics that look like his dealership are from the auction. Also, I'm 100% certain that Joe Hill does NOT own a dealership.

No... we are just used to dealing with a certain caliber of dealer... that's true for me too... if I had not bought my Merc from my Father in law, I would have had a hard time dropping that much cash on a car to random guy who lives on 88 acres of pine forest with his own road a mile off another random road in the middle of a tiny town in Arkansas with a population of 143 peeps... BTW... I own a home there too... LOL

He registered the domain through godaddy. So technically he owns the domain although he has not created the website. However, he setup the email through godaddy.

One on the right for me
Flying and getting the car personally is probably the best thing to do for yourself. And who cares how much the plane tickets are after you drop that much on the car?
