The lesson here is to never again ask automotive advice from the AZ clowns when you have a car with a perfectly fine warranty. Your 2nd post in this thread should have been "taking the car to the dealer now!"

I assume the CEL has not gone out, so just go to the dealer tomorrow; don't try any of the "clip this wire to that; stick your thumb there" advice that has been given thus far!

Some glitch in the temp sensor They reset and said if it comes back on they will replace the sensor. Said its not a big deal.

I had a feeling it had something to do with the weather... (see my 1st post regarding cold air and the intake I installed)

 

weather makes sensors crazy. When it's 10 degrees or lower my "TC OFF" light stays on for about a minute after I start the car and then goes off.

is the car parked outside? if so, i guess the cold start sensor could make sense. Sometimes when the sensor goes bad, the car runs a little rough until it gets a little warm.

 

No, its in the garage. The light went on when it was cold, but she said its a computer problem. If it goes on again, the sensor should be replaced.

 

yep. I said the same thing; the car only had about 4,000 miles on it when I started having problems. It was under warranty so I wasn't concerned. Before they replaced the engine they put in an oil monitor and told me NOT to change the oil and to come back 1,000 miles later. When I came back, they said the engine needed to be replaced. They didn't tell me exactly what the issue was but I'm guessing it was leaking oil.

Glad it was under warranty or I would have been paying well over $10,000.

Some people on the NissanSilvia board had the same problems as I did.

 

Came back on today They will replace the sensor Friday.

 

it's the cold temp. i'm sure there's nothing wrong with the car but it also shouldn't be coming on. mine comes on every few days and then goes off on its own (this also happened last winter and didn't come on once during the summer). i spoke to a tech at the dealer a few days ago and he said it's no big deal. the sensor is just malfunctioning. since mine is no longer under warranty, i'll fix it when i can

 

Its on again..I have a scheduled appt on Tuesday, may push it to tomorrow...

Nissans always have sensor issues. I've been driving mine around with the light on for 4 years I reset it two days before inspection.

 

There is a nice convertable in the showroom...
