My Check Engine Light is on...
But seriously, I had a loose O2 sensor connection. I tightened it and it took some driving and about 3 ignition cycles to clear the CEL.
mine comes on every so often... then goes away. especially when it's cold... I'm pretty sure it's the intake I installed... it actually lets TOO much air in or something like that... causing it to run lean (?)
1. Good choice on going to the dealer, thats what they are there for when the car is under warrenty
2. Dallison has good advice with the battery, but I would like to change that you should disconnect the Neg and not the Pos terminal. Its a hell of a lot easier to screw something up when you messing with the pos terminal

you can try resetting the ECU yourself... it kinda sounds complicated... and it'll take a couple tries... but if I can do it...

I had an 06 G35c and my check engine light would come on too; coupled with a nasty scratchy sound whenever I accelerated. Turned out it needed a new engine.
My sister had a 95 Contour, I hated that thing. It ran great but every time I fixed something to turn off the CEL, a few weeks later it turned on yet again.
She finally got herself a used '97 328i and I've never been happier!

my suggestion would be to grab a test light, find the cars ecu, then clamp the alligator clip from the test light to something that is connected the the cars body(something metal), then using the test light poke at wires until the test light lights up and smoke comes out of a wire. this will definately get rid of that check engine light and it may not ever come back either.
or just email paypal????

yes, put bacon on the smoking wire
you might want to lay a nice hunk of bacon across the battery terminals as well. When frying bacon, it's important to keep a close eye on it and turn it often. It can burn in the blink of an eye. Older bacon will cook and burn almost twice as quickly as fresh bacon.
If you prefer very crispy bacon, choose thinner slices to fry up. Pour or baste off the fat as it accumulates on the ECU and battery. Use medium to medium-low heat. Cook slowly, turning often, to render out the most fat and help reduce shrinkage. Pricking with a fork will help alleviate any curling problems. Drain breakfast bacon on paper towels.
