^^Heh yeah.

When I was 25 (edit: 23!) I had no where near the ability to own anything remotely close to an automobile like that. Kudos to him.

I guess when you're able to move on to bigger/better cars fairly easily (I assume he has a good job/finances) it may be easier to get hooked and unhooked on various cars.

But yeah man that'd be a dream car for me as well....

See where I'm going with that?
I do see where you're going with that, but hell if they'll work with me on that. They'll try to use my age and mods against me big time! It's the tune that worries me. Even if I flash back to stock, the ECU keeps tracks of how many times it's been flashed. So they will know. It's not like I added 300whp to the car, what the F gives?! Oh well. I'm going to try the civil approach with them in the morning. If not, then corporate it is.

Bud, by the time you're out of Med school you'll be laughing at me and my lowly 5.0. You'll be onto much bigger and better things.

Tonight's results from Mexico.

I got the new '16 SRT8 Challenger 6MT (I/E) challenger by about 2 car lengths.

Gutted, bolt-on 5th gen Camaro SS 6MT by about a car. Maybe a half-car and then he got me once for sleeping at the honks. He was quick.

Got a '12 GT500 by about a car length, 3x in a row. Bad driver.

Lost to a FBO + E85 135i with WOT-box by about 2-3 car lengths. Really fast car.

Lost to a ~550whp Terminator twice by about a bus length

Good runs for a slipping clutch.

Chad is gonna nut over the 135...

I don't blame you for feeling that way, but realistically, the car has probably the best aftermarket support of most cars and Ford knows it. If they use it against you that you modded, which was what the car was designed for...

That 135i was fucking vicious. Pulled a stock '09 GT-R hard right after me.

Going in today! Let's see what they say.

heh, thanks. I know I should be very grateful and I definitely am. Just don't feel like it since I am currently -300k+ in net worth

But almost done with residency actually so after paying off the debt should be able to get more fun cars soon

I'll need to start off easy and graduate myself into a car with as much as yours though.

I did a Ford demo event many years ago when I was lot younger and crashed a Mustang GT (I think it was around 06/07) onto a parking lot grass area/curb....and so probably will get something like a RWD driver's car (S2K, MX-5) and then go up in HP with the RWD/AWD platform cars as I get more confident in handling the power/drivetrain

Update on the clutch:

I told the Service manager the truth about my mods and he was like "bolt-ons and a programmer shouldn't cause a clutch to fail". First good sign.

So we went for a test drive with him driving and the clutch was acting normal and the trans wasn't grinding so he said next time it happens bring it right back no appointment and we'll pull out the tranny and get to work on it.

I'm very happy with their customer service and the fact that the service manager is a gear head too. So next time the clutch gets funky on me, I'll be dropping the car off and they'll be digging into it to figure out what's going on.

Talk to your service manager, ask him point blank if they are against mods there...some of them, that are enthusiasts (like Mike Chan) won't give you a hard time about mods and might even give you a decent price on install at the dealership to ensure it gets done right.

Talk to your dealer, bro. If they're not cool with mods then go to another Honda dealer.

So is it up to the dealer, or is it up to American Honda (corp)?

I know when I had my Mazda the dealer was cool, they even sold Corksport and the service manager had a slammed MS3.

I wasn't even sure if he just debadged although the wheels looked pretty :ghey: to me...but I was very mesmerized by the color.

What gets me is that I could never NOT get the V8...but that fucking eco boost on tune/mods got me kinda thinkin...I drove a F150 with it...and it moved...so I'm sure the stang would dominate.

V8 or bust with the pony cars. I'm not taking anything away from the other models, just my opinion.

That's my opinion too...can't do less than a vee eight on a muscle car...but that turbo has come a long way.

They should make a ricoboost 5.ho.

Makes you wonder why they haven't put the V6EB in the Mustang
My mom has a 4WD F150 EB & it really moves, without giving any real indication (feel) that it's accelerating as quickly as it is.

So the other question I had is...what kind of cars did you own before this mustang? Did you feel you could handle the power fairly easily or was it pretty scary at first?

I'd love to get into something that powerful but afraid I'll wrap myself around a tree if I don't graduate up to a car that powerful

Yeah, the turbo has definitely come a long way. I'm all for an Eco-boosted 5.ho. Boosted from the factory? Hell yeah!

I've never driven an EB.. But now I feel like I need to go what the hype's all about. You and J have nothing but high praise for it.

Nothing big. The strongest car I'd owned before this was my stock '12 G37 sedan (7AT) and she only put down 282whp on the Dyno. The power was a little intimidating at first. On the stock 235/50 Pirelli's I could light up all of first and second and then still spin a little into third. Bigger tires/wheels + springs helped a little bit but since I was running El Cheapo tires I was still spinning like a mad man.

But power gets boring extremely fast. I went from stock --- CAI + Tune --- almost FBO + E85 + Tune in less than 3 months. It's like I did something new every month and looking back now, I should've just put the money I spent on most of the mods toward a Pro-Charger. I'd be at roughly 600whp to start with plenty of room to grow. Live and learn. If the time ever comes where I have to sell this car to free up some funds, I'll be picking up an 03-04 Cobra, C5Z06 or an already boosted 11-12 5.0.

You won't wrap yourself around a tree, I'm sure you're a smart guy. I've only lost it in this car once. Turned traction control completely off and decided to find the "limit" and it bit me. Luckily no one and nothing was around so nothing was harmed. I haven't turned it off since. Lol

The only EB I've driven was my mom's 4WD F150 Lariat. From Vegas to Bakersfield, CA. Plenty of power for a long bed crew cab & got something like 19-21mpg.
Unless you count rental Fusions.

Congrats Nist! What are you doing next year?

Don't worry, things will get better as an attending!! The student loans that the government won't let you/us refinance (could go on forever on my distaste of this) are a burden, but make sure to reward yourself! You earned it! Congrats again....

Been eying those F-150's lately.

I'm all over the place. I dropped the 5.0 off at the Dodge dealership I bought it from to get the bumper gap fixed and insisted on getting a truck as a rental from enterprise. Well, they give me a '16 Dodge Ram quad cab and I have the truck for two hours before I go to pump gas and realize the fuel neck/nozzle that connects to the gas tank is busted so I can't pump gas.

So, I limp it back to the nearest Enterprise insisting that I get another truck to replace this. I really wanted an F-150, but they were all reserved for the Ford dealerships so I ended up in a '16 Silverado quad cab. It was supposedly the most basic model in the Silverado line-up but holy sh*t I've fallen in love with this big lug.

The sounds system is leaps and bounds better than my base model 5.0's. The interior space is downright ridiculous. The way it glides across the highway, so soft and smooth. Plus, it's just about the meanest son of a bitch I've ever made eye contact with. I'm really loving this truck. I haven't gone above 75mph once and have not had the urge to do any hard pulls or hooning at all!

The dealership called me about an hour ago to let me know that my car's ready. Now I could either take an extended lunch to go pick it up before they close, or enjoy the truck for one more night.

There's two major meets tonight with a scheduled trip to Mexico afterwards and honestly, I almost don't care. Lol. I'm enjoying the truck too much to care about a 40 roll right now.

Who knows, maybe I'll be singing a different tune when I finally pick the Mustang up. All I know for sure is that I'll miss the sound system in the Silverado immensely.

Maybe consider something drastically different than you're used to? Ever since I bought a Jeep, I've been hooked on off road. It's an awesome challenge to the point that I kinda wish I would have bought a Wrangler to really customize and mod. On the flip side, I'm glad because I'd be broke if I bought a Wrangler...

You live in an awesome area to own an off road rig, it would be a lot of fun.

David, you crack me up

I like trucks and I'm lucky my GFs dad stores his old truck at our place (2001 Silverado 1500 Z71). I keep it maintained & drive it on occasion .. But there's nothing better than getting back into the S and ripping gears.

You'd get bored of that thing in a week.

Lol
Yeah definitely keeping the TCS on...thisis good point. I'm still thinking about old school cars (C5 Z06, Cobra, etc.) that needed more skill to keep sane but modern day TCS definitely has improved a LOT and you can get lot out of the car without getting into too much trouble.

I'll definitely keep that in mind...so need to keep the TCS on for vast majority of time it seems....

Don't worry, things will get better as an attending!! The student loans that the government won't let you/us refinance (could go on forever on my distaste of this) are a burden, but make sure to reward yourself! You earned it! Congrats again....
Thanks!

Will be a shrink as my career and as far as the job market goes....no shortage of jobs. I see lot of pts in my current resident clinic telling me how long of a wait it is to get in to see a psychiatrist these days!

Yeah the big loan sucks BUT I am very very grateful to be in my current position and Im also bit of a personal finance/money geek and have been reading up on MMM as well as White Coat Investor (I do think I am a Boglehead in terms of investing philosophy/style) and have a rough plan to tackle 300k in about 3-5 years or so. (Bit more extreme frugal living...) Essentially planning for a 200k income to be used roughly: 50k taxes, 50k living expenses, 100k loan pay back annually.

And then after becoming debt free, then will likely start acquiring more fun things to have in the four and two-wheel vehicular categories!

I just read a headline/article about the new Silverado having weird back end vibration issues from owners with mysterious cause (1 owner changed out tires, diff, suspension, etc. and still no fix)

Not sure if it applies to the '16 trucks but apparently 14-15 Silverados have it so look into that.....

I just got a 2015 crew cab F150 for my job (to replace the transit, real panty wetter). I have to agree, comfort is kinda nice too.

She's for sale for real this time! Insurance sky rocketed after someone side swiped my loaner truck and they stumbled across a ticket I got last year.

Unless I can get cheaper insurance than $556/month, there's no way I'm keeping her. For $1,000/month (insurance + payment) I could be rocking a whole different level of cars.

you're young, you're a guy, and you drive like every insurance company's worst nightmare!!! I think most cars will suck unless you buy a used one and don't fully cover it.

I must have missed that D!!! Did you keep that loaner truck extra time and end up getting hit with it???? Sorry man! I'm sure things are going to turn around and work out for the better in the end

Don't feel too bad, you could be getting raped like I am at $888 a month for the Benz/Vette full coverage. F-In NJ!!!!!!
