a race between the two are all on a driver, the m5 has a stronger top end, due to more power and a bigger engine. M5's motor has more mod potential too.

I know there are some stock M3's running high 12's, but then again it doesn't seem like there are many M5's going to the drag strip.

yeah, it's not common, but possible. Again, these cars are running drag radials. Making up .2-.4 tenths on the 60 ft gains you about double that in the ET. SO I guess it depends if you consider drag radials a mod that makes the car "not stock" or not. And this is why I say that fewer M5 drivers at the drag strips makes this a tough comparison.

Yep...the 0-60 is the same but in the 1/4 I believe the M5 is like one or two tenths of a second faster!

that and the fact that the M3 exhuast soudns like ass. If I wanted a sporty criuser, M5 hands down. If I wanted a car to take road course racing here and there, M3 hands down. In the end this a coupe and a sedan, so practicality comes to play here too. My A4 is pretty much a 2 seater with the tiny back seat, so having a coupe is fine with me.

The M3 is more fun to drive than the M5 which is still a big heavy luxury car. If you want an entertaining luxury car get an M5, if you want a luxury oriented sport GT get an M3.

I don't have a family, don't need an M5.

My M3 sounds great.........

Better yet maybe he'll run you with his Evo (or is it STi Belt?) Too bad he doesn't have the viper anymore.

Oh and I'll take the M5.

Exactly, he wouldn't.....raced a bunch in the Viper. I beat most, but did get beaten by others (not by a huge distance though).

They definitely move, driven them as well. I had a 99 Vette, so I'm on good terms with the local dealer.

ferizzo.....had an Evo, but traded it for the STi

BTW Unless your running 12.2 or faster I just dont see it happening, me all motor baisically stock. If you are, then ill run you with some juice. Congradulate you for having the sickest m3 also. Ive never seen any new m3s run that fast.

I really have no idea what your talking about, when did I discuss the M3 being faster than a Z06 in this thread?

Anyway, if I wanted a Z06.....I would have bought a Z06. But in that regard, I would have just picked up the SRT-10 I ordered if I wanted another crazy fast sports car (but opted not to take it though).

1. I had a Vette, if I wanted another would have bought one.

2. A Z06 should only look half as good as a Viper GTS....funny nobody wanted to take pictures in front of the Vette when I had it. Yet, I had numerous people wanting to take photos in front of the Viper. People used to follow me into parking lots in the Viper, never the Vette......list goes on.

3. Actually, I beat 02 Z06s without an issue....03s were tough as they had 405hp vs. 385.

Yeah, that's what I meant.....lost track of just how long the Z06 has been out.

Beat 01s without a problem, 02+ were tough.

I'd take a Z06 because its a CORVETTE. It's the original American sports car (as sporty as an I-6 can be in 1956, it didn't turn FAST until 1960 when they put the 4.6 liter V8 in it). The Corvette has a rich heritage. It symbolizes the rise of the muscle car. Contrary to popular belief, the Gran Turismo Omologato (GTO) WASN'T the original muscle car. It was just the first dirt cheap muscle car.

Corvette: "Let's make a sporty car that will be able to compete with such foreign car makers as BMW and Mercedes, and bring the sports car industry into America for the first time. WOW! What is this, FIBERGLASS?!? This congflounded new lightweight material is perfect!"

My : (innovative and orignal)

Viper: "We haven't made a decent muscle car in over 10 years so let's make a really expensive piece of crap car that turns heads with outrageous styling and has a 10 cylinder engine! Since we can't engineer for shit, it'll HAVE to be fast with 10 cylinders!"

My : (desperate for a new image)

Newer Vipers are actually good cars, mine was fine....never went to the dealer for any problems (my Acura actually rattled more).

The Gen II Vipers are great machines, the Gen III SRT-10 is even better (although I don't think they look quite as good as a GTS).

Just so you know, the new M5 will have a V10, the Lambo Gallardo has a V10, and the Carrera GT has a V10....what were you saying?

what? i was saying that in 1991 Dodge realized that they wouldnt make a V8 to compare to the current C4 Vette, so they threw 2 more cylinders in order to compensate. the new M5, Gallardo, and Carrera are all badass cars. that goes without saying.

just so i dont come off as a dick, i want people to realize id drive a viper in a heartbeat. im not a moron. if i have beltfeds funds, id drive a Z06 AND id probably blow money on a Viper for shits and giggles. but ill never be able to own multiple expensive cars like that the way i see it, so with my hard earned money, id much rather buy a Z06 and save 30k over the Viper when i could put out the same times roughly and look better too. (C5 Corvette styling is perfect in my opinion)

Ok, well that's getting into preference and value.....a Z06 does pretty much everything better or equal to a Ferrari 360.

Guess what, I would rather have the 360 (as would most people I would think).

Vettes are nice, but they are extremely common.....GM builds over 30k of them a year. That was the main reason I dumped mine, not exclusive enough.

no offense man, but you are a rich fucker hahah. im sure youve worked your ass off for it too, im not talking bad about you. but yea, like i said, if i had money out of my ass like that, id buy a Viper too. but my car will be a real investment. im going to be a cop hopefully, so the way i see it i can afford a modest home and a Z06.

my money has to count, and anybody will tell you thast what a Vette is for. bang for buck
