^ the E36 used to be a car that I hated, but for some strange reason it's aged really well. I kinda want one now

Admittedly I had a bad experience but the way BMW parts deteriorated in about 15 years on a car with no rust was shocking. I don’t know I’d ever buy a BMW again.

I can see why the car was so popular in 1998. But lord, what a pile of shit it was after normal use for 100K miles.

Forgot to load second video. This track is amazing, and had 4 people walk up to ask what was done to the exhaust! This session was dryer, was doing 120-125 on the banks and 140-145 on straights.

Also finally loaded bunch of carbon.

Sexy as fuck...
I usually don't like the colors added but it looks classy where it is on the bumper.

The full decal kit from BMW is a bit tacky, the sides of the car mostly. My detailer custom made the front and rear, and I can rip off anytime if I get bored of them so I let hi do it!

I did a couple tweaks to the 2002 also, Ill update when I wrap that one up, got some exhaust and wheels for it!

Thanks! Haven’t got tired of either so they are staying a while longer!

Also got my 2002 back from the shop where it was getting a basic tune up/ maintenance service. Have parts rolling in for it and some still being shipped . Got new tail lights for it. Have an exhaust sitting in garage for it and a new set of wheels coming soon.

I was wondering...considering your current daily is fast and your track car is fast.
How do you feel driving the "elder"? Aside from it being cool and nostalgic and getting
nods from folks that dig them (myself included)...does it leave you wanting to do something
crazy like an engine swap or would that send you down a wormhole and kill the authenticity
of it?

Its a good question man. I feared that would be the case initially until I drove it. The car is already swapped. Its a base 2002 that at one point it received a tii engine swap. OEM it was a carburetor M10 with roughly 100hp. The tii engine is a Mechanical Fuel Injection M10 which makes it a sought after engine/model. Its rated at 140hp which paired to a 2200lbs weight in a RWD layout makes the car a blast to drive. Its not fast but it is very engaging to drive. No electronics no nannies so you feel 100% connected to the car and road.

I am doing exhaust to wake up the engine which already runs solid and doing bigger/wider wheel/tire combo which will also help with the go kart feel it already has. Its a Sunday drive car, so no need to be really fast to be fun.

Thanks buddy, I appreciate it man. Yes on the pineapple, Mel loves pineapple decor.

I should have got her car in the shots.. I snapped this one the other day since they are rarely both cleaned up together..

BTW she has come a long way also with hers, I gifted her a catless downpipe last year as a birthday gift, she has since installed a set of APEX wheels and also a set of H&R lowering springs, so we are twinning harder now!

Thank you man! I posted the pic of the Competition next to the 2002 and 80% of the people were drooling over the 2002!

The story on this car is interesting since I spotted it when picking up my M2C back in December.

All said and done purchase price, registering, basic maintenance and tune up I did it still ran me well under 20K. A strong running tii engine BY ITSELF can run you 7-8k from what I have been told.

Finding these cars in good shape not fully rusted is getting harder by the day. This one I actually was able to trace its history from when it was imported to USA in 1974 and sold as a new model in NY all the way until it was sold in 2012 from Florida to Texas (about 5 owners by that point). There is a gap of a couple years between Texas and when the car made it to California then moved from about 4 dealers into my hands. I am working on filling the gap between Texas and California since I found that owner recently.

These cars started rocketing in price once the model hit 50 years.

Jeremy knows me, I didnt care for the price once I was determined to buy it. It was a prime example of what I wanted, a solid car that ran good and was in decent shape. I was after a driver, not a show car.

My BBS finally came in but I couldnt install because my stock wheel lug studs are too short!! Ordered a set of extended press in lugs and plan is to install this weekend.

Some other updates on the 2002 mostly, been working on taking care of a couple details here and there. I replaced both seatbelts with new ones still retaining the retro style. Also had a fellow from the 2002 Facebook groups offer a set of seats curbside which I asked him to pull plastics covers I needed. I also got some retro OEM style floor mats for it. Been working on an intake for it by adapting a CAI from a DC2.
