Guy from work had a huge issue with some mechanic shop he had dropped off his MS3 at for the timing belt service. Long story short, the guy had his car for 7 months...kept stringing him along about how the heads were at a machine shop etc etc...A few months ago he was like, "I'm done with this car...I'm getting a Kia Sorrento, the one I rented while the Mazda is out of commission".
Well, just saw him yesterday and he got his car back...asked him about the Kia thing...he said HELL no...one drive in the Mazda and the turbo and he had a grin from ear to ear. He's keeping it.
Sorry, off topic but thought it was a cool story for the thread.

^ WTF? Your co-worker obvioulsy has no clue about MS3s because they have timing chains not belts. Not only that but if my car was the mechanics for more than a few weeks for something like that I'd be calling the cops and getting it back immediately. I'm calling

on this story.I agree, facts seem a bit loopy and if I had my car dropped off somewhere I'd go ballistic after a few days too. That said, I can't say I can vouch for all the facts of the story since I'm retelling what I've been told.

Thanks.
The Mazdaspeed3s are pretty reliable. They don't really have any common problems from the factory.
It's just that there are a lot of dumb ass teenagers who put power mods with no tune go zoom zoom boom and say the cars aren't reliable. This applies to all the affordable performance cars with a turbo.
I can't say much about MS6 since I didn't do much research on them before I bought my car.
I had my car for almost 30 months so far and never had to go to dealership for anything.

It depends on how you define reliable. Less maintenance? Then yes, the MS3 requires less with it just being FWD vs AWD, but it's not a huge expense by any means. $100 in AMSOIL fluids every 50,000 miles or so. Not a biggie.
Now if define it by the car starting every morning and not leaving you on the road stranded, then they're identical in reliability since they use the same exact engine. My MS6 has never let me down *knocks on wood*.
The MS6 is going to cost more to make fast. The AWD system was designed for snow, not for dropping the hammer at 5,000rpm, so if you want to go fast you have to upgrade your rear differential mount, at the very least one of them, but two of them to be on the safe side. They're not super costly but they're very difficult to install so it cost much more in labor unless you install it yourself.
Overall both cars can be super reliable as long as you do your homework and don't go stomping on the throttle at 2,000rpm.
I can take this one Aaron.

JS have you experienced this problem at all. I know the one I test drove had no signs of smoke. Dealer didn't ride with me so I did a few launches as well, even pulled over and let it idle for about 15 minutes, no smoke on the 6. I'm starting to wonder if the problem is blown out of proportion. I like the grown up sleeper look of the 6, but I like the utility of the wagon for the 3.

Nope. Never had that problem. Haven't really seen any Genpus having that problem.
It only occurred for some early year models I believe. And there are multiple fixes that you can try to correct it.

After 8 hours of detailing by our fellow Aziner.

I'm gonna do a little photo shooting tomorrow at work!
It's sooooooooooooooooooooo CLEAN.

So Aaron, I was on the internetz and stumbled across this car. It is black, like yours, has black rims, like yours, looks to hug the road due to its lowar centre of gravity, emm unlike yours. You can thank me later.

Now, can you do something about the 4x4 status of that car?

Finally stopped being lazy and ordered the parts for the damaged undertray. Only cost me $60 from this online OEM part vendor.
I was being super lazy and didn't really care about it til last night when this EVO X trying to race me on the freeway. He wanted to go for it, so I went WOT with him..... then the undertray started to scrap against the road when I hit around 90 and I had to back out. Made me look like an idiot, so I had to order the parts today.

Then, this happened yesterday. I changed my engine oil yesterday and noticed one of the bracket for my rear sway bar was like this.
The seller has already shipped out the parts for me at no cost. Don't know how that happened though.
