JS+MS3's 2010 Mazdaspeed3 Updates (Still a 4x4)!
Check with Shoof, but I think most dealers use a system called Galves, or something like that for trade-in value.
Wait, so if you sell the car as-is, do we harp on the next owner about lowering? Or can we still bitch at you?

Seriously>? You're thinking of trading the Speed3 in for a BRZ/FRS? I'd hold off for another year. Wait for sales to slow down and incentives and low financing rates to come down the pipeline. Just think how bummed you'll be when they introduce the turbo version.
Try not to fall into the 3-year-buy-a-new-car-mod-mod-mod-trade-in-repeat trap. At my workplace I've witnessed a few individuals do the modded Civic Si to modded Mazdaspeed3/GTI to Modded STI/EVO cycle.... and these guys are already looking into their next car purchases.
I've condidered trading my Speed3 many times over the last couple of years, but have restrained myself. I've set a personal goal of 100k miles minimum before trading up. As long as I keep modding slowly, the car should be able to hold my interest.

So I recently sold my Cobb Accessport to my friend for $450..... He's now asking me to buy it back for $350 because he's selling his car.
Oh god.
Maybe I should just buy it back.

$ is certainly not a problem. haha
It's just that I don't want to drop the car even an inch in LA. Maybe when I buy a house next year, I'll get a new car and lower it since we are moving down to OC area.
I think I'm gonna buy back the AP. I missed the power loss. I mean +50hp/tq with better fuel mileage for $350? It's a no brainer, I guess.

Oh, lol.
I had experimented with it for over 3 years and thought about stocking out the car slowly. And my friend just got the car and wanted to tune it so badly at that time.
But then I kinda regretted selling it. The difference was HUGE.
And we were planning to buy a house at the end of this year but postponed it to next summer. lol

I know you have very low mileage for a 2010 (compared to a lot in the used MS3 arena) but how are you liking it?
I found a 2010 Celestial Blue Mica MS3 for sale in my area with about 47k on the clock. I am torn right now between waiting to get a new 2014 MS3 or possibly a 2014 MS6 (if it does come out).
I recently test drove a 2012 Golf R but we couldn't agree on the numbers at the finance managers table so I walked. Stupid black book offered me $2000 for my TSX.
I Torn on grabbing the 2010 Blue, a 2013 Black, pulling money from savings to get the underpowered but nicer Golf R, or just sitting and waiting for that much better thing that always seems to be coming out on the horizon.
Just curious on your take of the 2010.

I gotta admit, I used to drive my first Integra around LA and it was dumped. my splash guards would sometimes rub against the ground. Was it annoying, not really. Did I have to be extra cautious, yea. Did I lower my second integra, hell ya, but just not by as much.
So, lower your car, but make it a reasonable drop and just be cautious.

Eventually want to get a job in OC area.

And when I was shopping for my car, I just wanted something very affordable/cheap to mod & maintain/6MT/turbocharged engine.
I did test-drive GTi/MiniS/MS3 back to back on the same day, and MS3 was a clear winner for me. It was the most "raw" car among the choice. And MS3 was much cheaper than the others too.
If you like modding, about $1000 can get you a completely different car. It's very easy to mod and tune. Cobb Accessport is the best for sure.
I've never had any issue with the car so far. Not a single rattle in the cabin. My 3G TL had like 1000000 rattle spots.
I'm planning to sell my car next year just because I want something new. I never really owned a car more than 5 years.
Yeah, I told him I'll be buying it back next week.

AP is the easiest part to resell anyway, so I guess it's a no brainer. Plus ,my latest map was fine-tuned by a popular tuner on the MS forum. Everything was spot on.
You don't drive through koreatown and downtown everyday, do you!?

It's not about lowering being hard on the shocks. That's the last thing I'm worried about.
I have to drive much more cautious with being lowered. I've thought about this A LOT before. I had made my combo long time ago too. Swift R + Koni Yellows.
But really, it's too late.
I'll jump on it when I get a new car next year.
