Pontiac G8 GXP
Not too much different from the G8 GT but dayam what a performance package. The ultimate child hauler.
Specs:
6.2L LS3 V8
402 hp / 400 lb-ft tq
Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual
0-to-60: 4.7 secs
1/4 mile: 13.0 seconds at 108 mph
Waiting to hear back from my brother (works for GMAC) to see if there will be any deals for employee's families.

I saw a GT on the way home from work tonight.

My parents bought the last year GTO and run 87 octane in it. I don't get it. The cost of premium gas comes with the territory. It's kind of like someone that buys a BMW or MB but can't afford the maintenance. It's a performance car and should thus be treated like one. IMO of course.

Sure enough, next analysis on the cheap stuff, and the same oil/filter combo came up cleaner...
The only reason to run high octane is to prevent detonation.

It's alright.....but I've got to have a car that sells me on it's looks too. Sure it's got awesome performance, and to some that's all they care about....but I want something that everytime I walk back out to my car from the grocery store, or everytime I open the door to the garage, I go...
"WHOA........"
....something I don't have to have a lead foot for to take my breath away

To be honest, it does.
I even catch myself smiling sometimes....especially those days following a really good wash, clay, and wax and your car is sparkling in the sun.....
^Makes me do that
EDIT: Thanks about the name change

For some odd reason ... I like the pictures more than the actual car. I spent at least 10 minutes at the GM pavilion at the Detroit Autoshow and I wanted to like it ... but it seemed it was trying too hard to look bad ass (hard for me to describe, I'm sorry). Front end seems too busy; rim pattern looks like it belongs on a SRT-4 ... the whole doesn't seem quite right to me, for some odd reason.
Performance numbers look great; interior looks like GM is finally understanding they need to spend money on the inside (!!!). And thank you for getting rid of that orange/red color for the instrument panel!)
As someone asked ... I would have no idea what Canadian MSRP would be (who buys locally any more? Check out redflagdeals.com or carburner.com on how to import from the US ...) but I would strongly suspect it would be several thousand more than a similarly equipped US market vehicle.
Aside: you might want to buy locally since it is a first year model and the warranty would be something that you might need!

I would take this over any acura product. after owning several acuras and then owning a gto the customer service is no comparison.

Woops. I knew what I wanted to write. I meant to write 550 killer. Yes, the M5 runs mid 12s in the 1/4. I guess with some mild tweeking the GXP could keep up with and M5.
The GXP would give an M5 a run for it's money 0-60 but we all know what that's worth.

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
I said previously that I wanted one. But I'd like to look it over in person before loosing my marbles for a US car. At least a Pontiac.

It's the perfect vehicle for me. I've always wanted the NSX (hence the name) but with three young kids, it's without a doubt the most impratical car, even second car. I'd probably end up driving it once a month.
This on the other hand provides me with an enormous fun factor while still being practical.
My local dealer has a black GT that I sat in the other day. Need to see how two car seats fit. My TL has no rear seat room, especially with one seat facing backwards.

That said, even the regular GT @ $31k is a great deal IMHO. I just eyeballed one at Malouf about an hour ago and I like the G8 more with each glance.
PS on the previously mentioned TSX: every time I see one, my thought is that the owner should have save some add'l $$$ for a TL OR opted for an Accord V6. (Caveat: I am not a TSX owner so, I likely do not appreciate as much as someone who is. )

I dunno. I'm thinking the G8s LS3 has sooo much more potential. Gonna have to start talking to Mario more (Bigman) to get the scoop on what's possible.
