^^ Maybe. But I never cease to be amazed as to how much turbo motors can put out when tuned correctly. That said, I would not mind seeing a tuned 535i run against a tuned GTP.

Do it. The GT Premium+Sport Package seems a good deal. Saw one at the auto show last month in white and it looked great.

I paid MSRP for my TL in 99. Not gonna do that again. Paying MSRP + premium for a depreciating asset is just plain assinine. My TL isn't worth crap in trade so I'll probably end up keeping it anyway.

I love the spyhunter commercial for this car. I wish GM steering wheels didn't look so ugly. Other than that, this car is a winner.

^ I agree. Best looking GM steering wheel I've ever seen. Kinda what I would expect in an Acura in fact.

There was a G8 GT at the track last night. I didn't stick around to see what he ran since I waited almost 3 hours to get two runs, but it was definitely grabbing a lot of attention.

Still a shame that GM has to buy other countries' designs to put out a decent car

That said, even the regular GT @ $31k is a great deal IMHO. I just eyeballed one at Malouf about an hour ago and I like the G8 more with each glance.

250 bucks for a tune on the GT for a 13.1
Throw a cam in it and a set of headers on the GXP and it will be well into the low 12s or better.

Who pissed in your cheerios? Last time I checked the difference was about $.20 a gallon.

Doesn't matter either way since I'll probably just keep my TL as a daily driver.

Domestics > Imports when it comes to mod costs:results. Then again, the G8 and E60 serve two entirely different demographics, with the latter more than likely being able to afford upgrade costs on an N54.

I looked at/test drove a GT on Saturday.

- On the base model, the interior looked cheap; the one with leather looked much better, but still not as nice as the TL.
- It rides smooth. Traffic prevented me from being able to really test the suspension.
- Traffic didn't prevent me from stomping it...wasn't overly impressed. I'm guessing the weight offsets the power a good bit.
- Mileage: 18/25...my TL, 19/26. Not sure what the GT's everyday would pan out to be, but that's pretty good overall for a high-output V8 compared to a six almost half as big.

I liked it, but looking at it up close and driving it didn't wow me as much as seeing pictures of it did. I was very happy to get back into my TL. While the GXP will probably be nice, I'll wait until the coupe comes out (if it comes out) before looking at the G8 again.

Are those EPA numbers? I'm thinking the real world numbers will be significantly lower.
My 06 TL gets 23mpg in mixed driving and 32mpg on strait highway driving. It's been consistent since I've owned it.

Both sets of numbers are EPA from window stickers. I actually get 21mpg in mixed (60/40 city/highway; maybe 70/30); I got 34 and 32 on a long trip once. Still, given what I get compared to EPA, I would assume a similar relationship for the G8. I would expect, for me, to get 19-20mpg.

Waiting to hear back from my brother (works for GMAC) to see if there will be any deals for employee's families.
Owners are already pulling those 1/4 mile times with their GT's. Owners with LSX edit handhelds are running high 12's on street tires completely stock. The GXP's should be a high 12 second car with a tune, it will low mid 12's. And i cant imagine what mods will do to this grocery getter.

Not so much... Acura was the result of a strategic marketing decision by AHM. Holden is an acquisition of GMs. They started out making upholstery for horse drawn buggies...

This on the other hand provides me with an enormous fun factor while still being practical.
My local dealer has a black GT that I sat in the other day. Need to see how two car seats fit. My TL has no rear seat room, especially with one seat facing backwards.
saw a black G8 the other day.

Nope, at least not yet.

The city EPA rating was 15 mpg on the V8 GT (not GXP) I looked at a couple of weeks ago.
I wish GM could decrease the weight of its sport sedans, like the G8 and the CTS, so they aren't 4000 lbs.+ on the big-engine versions. That would help with both acceleration and fuel consumption.

I think the steering wheel is better than what GM has put out in the past. Just make it black and it would look better (GM plastic in general sucks).

And the look might be a bit cleaner without the hood scoops. Just a thought.

What I meant is that Holden is still essentially part of GM as Acura is part of Honda.

The funny thing is a lot of people at least on AZ were underwhelmed by the G8's appearance when they saw it in person.... for me at least I thought it looked even better in person. Same goes for a few of my friends and my brother, who thought it was "just a Commodore" but when he saw it in person he was really impressed.

Lol, and I love how people are gawking at the steering wheels. Sure, anybody would like a steering wheel that allows for comfortable and easy sports driving, and one that's ergonomic if it has buttons...but of all the things to gawk at...THE STEERING WHEEL!?!?

I guess all this car has is a lot of power and a GREAT steering wheel

^You find it funny but the steering wheel design is actually important to me. I'll look sometimes at it when I'm driving. Nothing like a thick steering wheel too, it's nice when driving. It's an important characteristic to me.

after all the steering wheel is one of the few things that you actually handle at all times while driving....a nice steering wheel goes a long way imo

Why does the Porsche 911 have such a thin steering wheel? Anyone who's held one knows what I'm talking about. It's thinner than the one on my TSX

You mean interior? The only exterior I see on any car while driving is the hood and doors/quarter panels.

And a steering wheel is real important to me.... its the first thing I notice while driving any car, and its the one thing I always notice as time goes by. Thin steering wheels suck ass, and so do ugly ones.

And the magazines are saying the G8 has great handling too, all at a couple grand more than a TSX.
