safe to assume the 57's have fallen through. On the look out for a chopped 49-51 merc now.
Went and saw one this weekend that i had first seen about 10 years ago, unfortunately the owner has taken absolute shit of it...sitting under boxes in his garage. Probably would need 50-60K to come back to life.
That said, going to look at this one tomorrow. It was actually built by the guy who bought my 63. He sold it a few years ago to a guy I know. Ain't gonnna be cheap

got the merc, or, agreed to a deal.
Went to check it out Thursday, drove an hour and a half, thinking i'd look at it for 30 minutes. Ended up sitting with the current owner drinking Michelada's for 7.5 hours. He was hoping to get me drunk to pay his asking, me hoping to get him drunk to pay my offer. Left with no deal. But agreed on a price yesterday. Should have it home by end of the week.
This one isnt cheap. The cool news is, it sat as a screen saver on my computer for the last few years, so there's a FUCK TON of irony that the guy that bought my 63 is the one who built it. We didn't make the connection till after he bought my car, he spent 10 years building it, sold it a few years back and helped me track down the new owner. New owner didn't want to sell, so it took some work. The dude has the sickest colelction ive seen, 22 car garage...so i convinced him he didn't drive it enough
Congrats! That thing is just beautiful. Can't wait to see more pictures of it once you take delivery of it. It needs a gloomy/rainy day with great clouds shoot like you had done with the wagon.

Put it this way to make it badder
62 wagon, arguably on of the best 62 impala's around
this merc - often called one of the top 5-10 mercs ever built. And chopped mercs have been the staple elite of custom cars since the early 50's. it's baaaad bitch

you are highly trained in the dark arts!
Seriously though, what are your plans to "make it your own"?
or is this at a level where you'll depreciate it and get ostracized for fuckin with it...
I LOVE the clean no clutter look but those always look like they need some serious
tribal hand painted striping...

gonna leave it alone. May put fender skirts on the rear. Gonna update the air management, put in a super simple stereo (just probably a JL bluetooth connection and some small speakers up front)
Less is more, probably the right approach.
I love classics but that thing is a cut above.
Sexy as fuck.
About the likes...I don't need the validation () but I can usually figure out what the person is liking.
Sometimes questions or a person that annoys them won't get likes but then compliments do or
encouraging posts...maybe ones from people the OP knows. In this thread I can't pick up on a
formula for what is liked. That's all...my anal ytical mind.

chugging a long. Don’t drive it as much as I would like. It was basically my go to work in car but with covid. Doesn’t happen much. Wasn’t happening much pre covid either though 😂
