When To Change Trannny Fluid

I’ve had my AV6 swap in for about 12000 miles and checked my Transmission fluid and it was slightly dark but still had red tone in it just wondering if I should change and what fluid should I use ? I originally put Castrol transmission fluid in it but I wanted to take that out and put Honda Fluid in . And what is the capacity like how many quarts should I buy?

swapped trannies but dont know the capacity!?!?!?! a little google searching and I bet you can find it.

changing tranny fluid is pretty much all preference....some do it at every oil change, some do it every 30k, some dont ever change fluid...
you're gonna have to do some critical thinking here and use your best judgement based on your driving and based on how much money you wanna throw at fluid.

No year/make/model listed, but assuming 99-03 TL?

3x3 & call it good? Tedious & a bit of a process, but improved how my 00TL shifted for sure.

the one thing that has helped me to grow as an individual, is to take notes. take detailed notes and document things.

this way; you can start to notice patterns...for example, lets say you change the tranny fluid every 30k miles, but forget or happen to miss that mark. at 50k miles, the tranny starts to slip.. you then proceed to change the fluid and notate your findings.
you can go back and read the detailed documentation and find that exact sweet spot on when to change the fluid...Perhaps you can push it to 40k miles before it starts to slip, or when the fluid starts to break down.

Just some thoughts.

Minimum on Honnda/Acura's with 5spd and 6spd auto has been 30K miles. You can stretch the first interval to 60K if you want to try but I would not do that. Every 30K do a drain and refill. Google 3x3 method and you'll see how to swap ALL of it out but that might be overkill. DW1 or Castrol Max Life works well.

For something so cheap to do, why not just change it on the side of caution? Honda Autos blow anyways...
