with the way the car is made today, you probably break the shaft if you bang it too hard

Of Youth And Yutz

So much of this now. Agree. Sad. Hopefully, that was the only part of the accident.

Just a couple options for the new Chiron. You know, in case you were wondering what else you could buy for the price of a new Corvette or something.

$3mil and they don't even come standard with comfortable seats? BMW and Porsche have finally been bested in the options department. Bet this fvcker also has a $20k optional 4K back up camera.

I was watching a Fast & Furious marathon over the weekend and notice something kinda funny. In the 1st movie Brian is just an awful cop, like all around shitty at everything detective related. Obviously the movie ends with him letting Dom go. So when 2 Fast starts Brian gets arrested for street racing and the first thing the cops think of is to give him another under cover sting job

Grey market or clone?

Either way ....

That's one of a handful of German cars I'd actually park in the carhole.

They became legal last year, so it's quite possible it's real. However, the few people that have imported them so far have asked way, way too much money; it's not that iconic or carries Skyline GT-R demand over here. It's a very cool car & all, but it's something only folks like us will appreciate & know what it is.

Here is one I remember seeing last year. The importer claimed it was the only one in the US (despite a Mercedes dealer in Pennsylvania having one in its collection) and asked $700,000 for it. It had 80,000+ miles on it, incredibly high for the car and reason to believe someone bought it stupid cheap over seas and tried to make themselves into some kind of wanna-be millionaire.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-190-Series-Evolution-2-/221798289032?forcerrptr=true&hash=item33a4354e88&item=221798289032&afsrc=1&rmvSB=trueCar was relisted a couple months later for $300,000, still way too high.

They made 500 of them, and can be had for under $100,000 in Europe with half that mileage. One in the Netherlands sold last year for $200,000 with under 12,000 miles on the odo.

190 EVO II is one of my grail cars. $700k is insane, $300k is still way too high. Back when I was really trying to find a 2.3-16 or a '93 Sportline LE, I'd browsed around euro markets & the few EVO IIs were listed in the $70k range.

yah i saw the Long Beach blue on the freeway the other day. The differentiation in person is a lot more than M4 vs 435i.

The one I saw was the same color. Definitely a much more "muscular" look to the body than the M235i.

a good car to buy and i think it is reasonably priced. But the M2's lease # is laughable.

with all the crap BMW has put into all of their cars, i really do not understand why M2 does not have LED headlight, even as an option when X1 28 has it...

Is the backup camera an option? That would be gold.

It is gold! But you know we are talking about BMW here... you can't say they are cheap because Navigation (that includes touchpad, BMW online, BMW connect, BMW Apps and other crap) and HK audio are standard and oh yah you get the 19" wheels as standard and M3/4 has 18" as standard... yet you can't say they are generous because they refuse to include back up camera as standard even on some of the 5 series. but you do get the Beep beep beep sensors as standard equipment (on 5 but not on M2).

With that being said, since M2 does not have a lot of options: only Driver Assist (parking distance and backup camera) and DCT. At $51k, the car is a bargain.

May have to give it a couple years in regard to the backup camera; BMW likely trying to squeeze every last drop of your money before it becomes standard by law. I'm fairly confident Lexus has already made it standard on every one of our cars.

I don't disagree, at $51k it's a great deal for the performance but you're still paying for the badge since that's an awful lot of money for a small two door coupe. If they ever make a M2GC, I'll be in line to buy one when it comes out.

In the mean time, I'll just leave this here...

Basically, you're paying $15k (at least) for 0.1s faster on a track, two fewer doors, smaller trunk, and a couple of roundels.

Pretty sure it's standard on a base model Toyota Yaris...

that's kind of a silly argument... that's like saying "Why buy a lambo for 250k, when you can buy an STi and build it to be just as fast, for 50k all in?"

while performance may not be all that different between these two, there's more to them than just that. For one, the Focus interior leaves much to be desired.

How is that anywhere close to the same argument? The M2 is a fast 228i just like the RS is a fast Focus hatch. Not saying buy a Scion FRS and toss a turbo on it to make it as fast as the M2.

Yes the Ford interior is not as nice but it's also much cheaper for the same performance. If you're in it for the interior and not performance, I'd recommend a 228i. If you're buying the M2, it's for performance and you can get similar for less elsewhere. You're right though that the overall package of the M2 will be better but is it worth $15k or more? For a lot of people the answer will be yes and they'll sell tons of these. For me, I'd go with no.

Not to mention, which one will be cheaper to maintain after the warranty is up?

You can get extended warranty. Also, Not many people these days keep a car past 5 years.

And it is the same argument- you are saying you can get the same performance for 15k less, which is true. What I'm pointing out is there is a reason you are paying that 15k more, just like there is a reason you are paying 200k more for a lambo, even though it's performance may not be any better than a highly modded STi.

Either way, I'm not trying to convince you to buy the M2. I'm just saying there's a reason for it's higher price.

This I disagree with but it's a to each his own statement.
First of all, do you know who cross shops between 40k 228i and a regular Focus 20k?
If acceleration is the what we are going after then - i would get a HEMI and smoke both.

M2 is probably one of the few "drivers car" left, it is one of those cars that are not the fastest in straight or in corners but you would love driving it.

It is impossible to get a M2 to test drive right now, but take a look at the M235i and you will love it. i did but i hated the look of 2 series tho. M2 is probably x3 better in every way for a few thousand more.

but come on man, making statement like is it worth 50k, 60k or 15k more than the RS is irrelevant.

Is M2 worth 15k more than RS? or Is M3 worth almost double the price of a RS? Probably not, if you want value. But at the end of the day, you will still have RS which is fine, but you dont have the M2 or M3 if that is the car you wanted.

If you lease the car, the lease # around $900 right now. In comparison, you can lease the more expensive M3/M4 for about the same or less or spend a hundred more, you will be in the M5 category that has double the MSRP of M2.

that is why a good car to buy, but it does not make sense to lease financially at least for a while.
