clay bar took me 3 hours Freakin one small section on my hood and trunk turned the clay bar brown. I had to knead that thing soo many times. Just the sides were already nice. I basically spent an hour on the front an hour on the back and like half an hour on the top. Both sides took only 30 min.

lunch break then polish and wax!

I can see civic's reasoning, sometimes I just don't like cars but I can't always find a reason. I love the Zonda, the Huayra is just I really like the Aventador, but never liked the Reventon (I find this the weidest)

Regardless of weight and it's actual performance, the GT-R never has and never will appeal to me. A test drive might make me fall in love with its dynamics but it just looks like an ugly tank of a car.

Actual aerodynamics aside, I've been conditioned to see a sports car and especially exotics as having one or more visual indicators... wedge shape, sharp cuts and creases, low-slung/sloping roofline, just that certain curvaceous shape....

Examples of doing it right:

btw I think the R8 is a bonafide supercar!

also someone I know is selling his '09 R8 V10, for a pretty good price (a surprisingly low price - I thought they were going for more). have a look:

I see this guy driving around my work from time to time with a V10 R8 with the same blue, CF sideblade... by far my favorite combo on the R8. I agree on the supercar status.

i think when considering a super car you dont buy it based on its hp handling or other performance things. Every supercar in its way is amazingly fast.

I think its the car as a whole that needs to attract you.

For example. I'm in love with the 430 scuderia, and i'd take it over the 458 anyday of the week.

I dunno what it is about that car but its just so amazing for me. Even though the 458 can probably run circles around the car.

Well you never asked

Weight is not my only complaint for the Aventador (or any Lambo for that matter). I just dont like them.

Very few Lambos or Ferraris do anything for me. Id take a Diablo over an Aventador. Id take a 355 over a 360/430. Thats just me.

If I had a large amount of money to drop on any one car, it would probably be one of the following:

-Mosler
-Alfa 8C
-Noble
-Aston Martin (really doesnt matter what model)

semi-slicks can be stock these days, I mean look at those Pilot Sport Cups.

looking quickly, Scud uses PZero Corsa - looks like semi-slicks to me:

458 runs a 1:25 while a standard F430 runs a 1:28.500

Give me either, I love them both.

question about polishing a car

when i do a small area in circular motioin and dry it off with a microfiber, should you be able to see some streaks?? or does that mean i'm letting it dry too long (which i'm not, i'm wiping it off right after i finish that small section.

Or is it normal and the wax cleans it up?

its weird cause the panel above my driver side panel turned out perfect, but the hood on toward the driver side didnt. Doing the same thing? My hood hasnt showed a shine for a while though maybe thats why its just bad?

Its not dry yet.

1) I feel bad for your arms for polishing by hand
2) Make sure you wipe the car down with isopropyl alcohol before applying wax/sealant

You are doing this in the shade/garage, right?

i thought i'm not suppose to let and dry, yea i'm doing this in the garage, its like 90 degrees outside and like 78 in here, i'm sweating so much lol, but the paint still feels pretty cool. My technique seems to be getting better, im gonna have to redo the hood.

And why do i need to wipe down with isopropyl alcohol?? Never read that? Where can i buy that? Walmart?

also should i be able to see myself after i'm done polishing a section or does that come with waxing?

I think my paint is just bad on this particular side of the car (especially when it gets hit with sprinklers a lot) We'll see when i get to the otherside i guess.

My car hasnt got garaged since i got it from my mom 4 years ago and the passenger side is always facing the sprinklers...

question for you guys that know about smog laws..

if i bought an 08 Accord V6 from Nevada, and brought it over to cali, would i be able to smog the car in cali? as far as i know, Nevada doesnt have any smog laws.

are all Hondas equipped with the same emissions control?

i found the ideal car, but my dad had brought up the smog laws when i asked him. figured id ask here. someone has to know.

if the car was good to go, it gives us another reason to go to Vegas

edit: here's the car.

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

carfax shows it passed emissions test

Assuming it's stock, it would be fine across state lines. Large manufacturers don't make cars that only be sold in one (or a few) states.

I don't know about the 8G, but I remember reading California and NY 7G Accords had ULEV status, while the rest were just LEV. Or it might've been SULEV/ULEV. But the CA and NY Accords were one "level" more efficient than the rest.

Anybody good with older Saabs?

You wanna here my Saab story? 1990 900 S (B202)
Interesting car. I bought it from the son of founder of the Mattel Toy Co. Owned it for about a year and 1/2 until I was t-boned by a Volvo in front of the local Police Station. Everyone was fine. But both cars were totaled.

The only issues I had were CV joints and motor mounts. Parts were very expensive, and no one had a manual.

Saab is a dead car company. Choose anather vehicle.

EDiT: However, the SAAB was a great driver and my first luxury equiped vehicle. Mine had a custom heated seat beige leather interior, power everything including sunroof, alarm and 7 speaker sound system with removeable head unit and carrying case. I still have the "SAAB" branded Alsop3 cassette cleaning system that came with the deck and use it on my Nak to this day.

Were those repetitive issues, or just a one-time thing?

And I have a parts hook-up, so hopefully that won't be a problem. And it's in much better condition than anything else I've found so far...

Speeddemon, it looks great. Have you considered clearing your headlights?

Marco, that doesn't sound too bad then. Did you ever have any problems with a turbo?

Best product I've ever used on metals. The GTI's exhaust tips get dirty very easily, I polish them once a month with this. Looks brand new every time.

Posting these Viper photos around the place has shown me something surprising that I didn't know about before... there are many people who don't like and/or hate on Vipers... I would guess none of these people have been inside a Viper on race rubber at a racetrack....

I have! And it is one hell of a car!

However, there is always some douchebag owner/driver behind the wheel.

it was the most thrilling ride in a car for me. 5 laps and it felt like a roller coaster - the grip was just NUTS.

in other news, my friend just got new wheels for his GTR - 375 20 21"s out back...... WTF

photos imminent
