I completely missed this post. You are correct. I was going to leave that out but I forgot I posted it in the other area. I was about to say you manage to figure out way to much before I remembered that.

Well he still uses a flip phone if that tells you anything. I can't figure out if the driving aids would help or not. The front camera is the only thing I thing would be of great use to fit so it doesn't hit curbs since he is coming from years of driving SUV. He now wants something that is a sports car but still practical and has space.

Pops has taste for sure.. but I'm not sure it's a poon magnet. Not as big as a sausage magnet as the V, but pretty close.

Any reason he especially likes the RS7?

Panamera might have a slightly larger magnet.
Well he started out looking at the XJ and Quattroporte. He had always wanted a Jag when he retired but doesn't like all the chrome on the XJ. He also doesn't trust driving RWD in the winter as he has always had trucks with AWD. He is stubborn and I have given up arguing a good set of winter tires and he will be fine. The engine options for the XJ with AWD are boring. When he sat in the Quartroporte right away he didn't like the interior. So then I took and showed him the Panamera and the Audi S8. He is a big guy, 6'4 235 and said he just felt cramped in the Panamera. He isn't a Mercedes fan and also it and the the Panamera comparably equiped came to a big more than he wanted to spend. When I showed him the S8 he fell in love with everything about it except he hated the silver accents. My dad doesn't like anything with flashy bling to it at all. I informed him there was a blackout package option and he could get rid of that. He went to a dealer to test drive an S8 for the second time and that is when he happened on a used RS7. He immediately called me about it as he had never seen one before. I had not suggested it cause I figured it would have been as cramped as a Panamera. According to him it was not. So that is how we have gotten to where we are. He originally wanted a big comfortable cruiser that was distinct but not overly flashy. Even an RS7 still does that I believe as car people will know what it is but the regulars won't think of it much more than an A7.

that was an awesome story! glad he saw the RS7 on the lot!

I figured at this point it was easier to give the background on how he has ended up looking pretty closely at one car at this point before people started making suggestions like an RLX with upgraded tires. Oh wait someone already did
I am not telling him I think so cause I want his decision to not be influenced but even though it doesn't have all the cool tech I think the dark grey car of the two I posted looks much better than the black one. You just lose the awesome body lines in the black one.
I've had Ecstas (don't remember specific model) on a couple cars in the past. Granted, it was a 97 Civic, 93 Accord & a 96 Infiniti J30. But they were pretty good tires from what I recall.
Speaking of frugality, does it pain you to drive such a slow car, ttribe? I mean, the BMW 3-Series is so snail slow, I think me being and riding a bicycle would beat you from 0-60.
Do you really need all seasons in SoCal? How often are you going to take it up to snow?

Not much. But we do take it to Mammoth and Big Bear during the winter time, so I would rather just put a set of all seasons on her car. It's not like I'm trying to have fun with that car. haha

Haven't heard anything bad about them.
Definitely not a bad price. Just be sure um, the sizes are all correct.
