yeah, guys who own them are mostly hardcore enthusiasts and are more interested in the driving experience and feel, they don't care about anything else. And come to think of it all the Miata guy owners I know (don't know any girl owners) are very open about those stigmas associated with the car and like to joke about it, like one time I took a drive down to a Miata meet in Starved Rock with a friend, and one of the guys had me take a photo of him driving his Miata with a banana in his mouth lol funny dudes.

I've always thought about the Miata as "girly" to the general public, but car enthusiasts know what's up about it.

SLK is simply girly to me.

yeah, unlike the Miata, the SLK is not widely known and recognized for it's driving experience or appeal, and therefore does not have that feature to fall back on..

Autoblog did a quick hit on the 328xd wagon. Liked the car a lot, saw 40+ mpg on the highway and questioned the value prop for a $50K wagon missing some key features.

Sounds like a great car that's about $8K too expensive Link: Autoblog Review

haha I guess my endorsement for 328d really got your attention.

I just returned it back to dealer after 3 days of driving.
I was averaging about 29mpg, which in any other car would be 13-15mpg. I was testing the torque and turbo diesel every chance i get.
I am very confident that 40mpg is easily achievable on the highway. 1800 RPM at 80mph.

The problem with the price is you can only get X drive with wagon. Wagon costs more and if you add the X drive there = $4000 more than standard RWD sedan.

i just built Allroad, shit is just as expensive and it ain't got the 280lb of torque.

Exactly. I'd have no problem driving around in a street legal go-kart. Jsut about every Miata/MX-5 I've driven has been a blast.

I think the Allroad is really expensive too. They basically added the Allroad specific bits and then added $3000 to the price

I've driven an SLK32 & it's quite a fun little car. Never been in a Gen2 SLK55, though

If that can apply to the Aventador for MSR, I'm in. Let me know.

Edit. Btw, could you find out what the correct date for the MSR Cresson event is? The reserve page says May-June, yet under tracks, it says the event is in August.

^ Seriously. It looks great. I'm a die-hard coupe over convertible fan, but it would be a tough choice between these two.

Will find out and let you know. I am pretty sure the 50% will also apply to the Aventador.

I will find out for sure on the MSR date but it looks like it's May 31-June 1, because that's what is also listed on MSR's site.

Edit: the website is kind of a "work in progress", and likely needs some fine-tuning. We are a startup company and have a bit of the "flying by seat of the pants" thing going on.

Yeah I understand it'll take some time for the site to be fully finished, I was just curious on the dates. I assume it's a standard 5 lap deal like most of the other companies, but let me know if they have options to purchase additional laps.

Big thank you Srika.

3? Errr, that kind of throws a wrench into it, but hey, if more laps are available to buy, I'll do that.

Well, as said, if the option to buy additional laps is there, I'll do that depending on the price per lap. It's a super generous discount as it is already.

May also opt for the Hallet event in Tulsa instead. Slightly bigger, about 4 good straights in it.

How do people get into those?? The only way I can think of is bouncing off the front tire Bruce Lee style. Or just carry a step ladder with you wherever you go.

saw a new black IS at night the other day..... looked sweet as hell. couldn't make out the front end really so that stuff going on there was minimized. I think the grille may have been blacked out, adding to the inconspicuous effect.

Ayrton Senna: Testing the McLaren Lamborghini

Submitted by Andy Hallbery on December 12, 2011
A three-time World Champion frustrated by a not so competitive car has to make a decision. But Ayrton Senna was pushing.
In October 1993, a year after he tested the Penske Indycar Ayrton Senna had to make a decision. As a Ford Cosworth customer team, versus Benetton and Schumacher’s works Ford car, Senna and McLaren still won five races, to Schumacher’s one.
The champion though was Alain Prost – Senna’s arch-rival. Frustrated at being beaten by Prost, and not being Ford’s works team, McLaren looked elsewhere, and mid-1993 a deal was struck with Chrysler which then owned Lamborghini.
There was a lot of frustration all around.
McLaren adapted an MP4/8 chassis to house the tiny V12 engine, and in September 1993, behind closed doors, they tested a totally unliveried car with Lamborghini power. The Monday after that year’s Portuguese Grand Prix, McLaren again tested the Chrysler-Lamborghini car, and Senna was so impressed he asked Ron Dennis, then team principal, if he could race it in the final race at Japan. The answer was “no”. This was the day after Alain Prost announced his retirement.
McLaren’s then test driver Mika Hakkinen, who that Estoril weekend replaced Michael Andretti for the races, had tested the Lamborghini car too at Silverstone, and was over a second faster in it than with the Cosworth version. The answer was still “no”. Senna, who won the final two races after Estoril in Japan and Australia, and had started the year on a race-by-race contract, had had enough, and despite being tempted by America and CART, the Brazilian signed for Williams for 1994 to replace Prost.
McLaren signed with Peugeot, and not Chrysler-Lamborghini, which did not go down well with the American/Italian companies as they had made a special effort to provide McLaren with a smaller, lighter engine. Chrysler PR director Tom Kowaleski said:
“We are disappointed to say the least. We have worked very hard in the last few months, including a very intense period recently putting together a team to interface with McLaren and TAG Electronics. The car was very quick and Ayrton Senna said some encouraging things about it. There was a strong agreement to proceed together for the future. The decision may say something about F1. It’s no secret that the marque must look at its costs, and we wanted to introduce our lean and efficient approach to it.”
With Hakkinen and Martin Brundle, there were no wins for McLaren in 1994, and at the end of the year, the French company was replaced by Mercedes-Benz. That too, didn’t start well, but in the years to come McLaren Mercedes became the dominating force.
Senna’s McLaren career ended at Adelaide in 1993. And despite all the animosity between them, with Prost on the podium that day too, they ‘kissed and made up’.
Adelaide was Senna’s final win, and final podium.
Special thanks to www.sutton-images.com for the images of the plain white McLaren test.

Was a shame. There was a lot of potential in that configuration to continue their days of McLaren/Honda partnership.

Also, they are 3-lap sessions, if you wanted to drive more you would just purchase additional session(s) on the day of. We would discount you at that time.

1-year lease on 2014 Challengers and Chargers

I have never heard of this before.

Dodge has some Challengers and Chargers sitting around with a new model coming out in about six months.

So they're offering a 1-year lease on Challengers and Chargers with the stipulation you lease a 2015 for three years after that.

You can swap the cars when a new 2015 comes in or wait until the one year lease is up.

Enterprise is going to buy all the 1-year lease cars to keep them from flooding the used car market.

Autoblog has the story <--- This is a link

I knew about the motor and car being integrated and tested, but didn't know Senna had driven it. Interesting story.
