Different in a two steps back kind of way for me. I'm not even mad it's driving in the slush.

I definitely don't think it's ugly, it's just meh for me.

You guys have any thoughts on the new Chevy SS? Not a looker but glad to see the platform back on our shores. Many believe it to be a better driver's car than SRT as well.

When you start looking at $45K cars, does the SS stack up?

Basically, $45K gets you a Cadillac ATS 2.0T, 2015 Audi S3, a BMW 328i, an Acura whatever, a Lexus ES300/IS350, a Lincoln MKZ, and a Mercedes C250/C300 depending on options (among other cars).

In that group, the SS has some pretty compelling performance numbers. It's not a bad looking car either. But the bow tie can be pretty polarizing.

It's in the same price point as an SRT8 Charger / 300C.

It just doesn't look inspired. With all the chrome accents, plastic front end, I don't think joe shmoe could tell the difference between the SS and the standard malibu / impala / cruze.

I can look past all that if it really does drive well. From what I hear, it does, and the exhaust sounds great. I was really expecting them to mute the exhaust but it rumbles in a good way.

I've never been a Chrysler/Dodge guy but that's a good point.

I don't think I'd pay $45K for a 300C or a SS to be honest. At least not new.

The SRT-8 holds its value pretty well. I'm seeing 2012 SRT-8s still in the $40-42K range.

I personally think it's fairly ignorant to think of it as "just a Chevy". It's a Holden Commodore. with a Chevy badge on it. BFD.

C&D did a comparo between the SS and the Charger SRT8 in this month's issue and the SS won, FWIW.

I think it's a great car from Chevy.

Would never personally get this over BMW 3s though.

someone said "But the bow tie can be pretty polarizing."

I paraphrased that and put quotes around it. Sorry.

Yeah, I read that article, which is why I brought it up. Now one of you guys buy it so I can decide on a new twin turbo bimmer or SS.

I'll buy the bimmer.

You buy the SS.

The SS interior is an improvement over the G8's, that's for sure.

If you like cheap chrome accents I guess.. I mean seriously.. wtf is this?

I swear, the SS would look so good without the cheap accents and chrome / polished wheels.

Also, is the fender vent fake? If so, deduct a point.

It's why I said the bow tie can be polarizing.

Chevy still cannot help but make its cars for 'Muricans who like dumb shit like that.

Stupid focus groups. GM, People are idiots. Stop listening to them.

The interior of the SS looks so bad. That itself would push me away from that type of car.

The cheap styling is definitely a turn-off.. agreed, if they left it alone, it would be pretty nice.

The chrome in the seats I can't imagine those would be comfortable, either. That and the SS badge on the dash, I'm not a fan of.

SS looks too much like the regular malibu imo. Even though it's probably not as good as a car, I'd rather have the SRT8 Charger.

yeah, the chrome accents and the 'SS' on the dash are pretty bad though. Even still, it's an improvement over extremely bland early '00s-esque G8 interior.
