No way.. you'd probably get stuck in a tree.

A black bear might nip at you. Alternatively, you'd end up in the lake.

You guys need to understand that more goes into cornering, the little beater corolla won't enter, hold or exit the corner better than a better balanced more powerful TL.

Because racecar.
what you need to understand, is that the Corolla is the kind of car you can throw into any turn at any speed, and not have to worry about losing control, rolling over, etc. etc. And this is because it is slower than shit. So technically you would be able to outcorner anything on the road.

If you did go off a cliff.. I'm sure the only way you'd die is Mrs. Yumcha killing you for driving like a mainland chinese taxi driver.

haha I'm not talking about a track, I'm just talking about speed through a corner. I have no full proof test, but I think it can just hold a higher speed through the corner, I have particular roads/onramps that I go through and I can see the speed of the car cause they're generally longer turns.

The Acura leans a lot more as well.

It feels like I'm going a lot faster in the Acura, but I'm just not.

anyone else have a garage in your dreams? I mean one that you come back to every week? the first car I have is pretty cheesy, since I owned one, its a red Supra. . but I sure do enjoy (still) driving it, in my dreams. I also have a C4 Corvette, for some reason, and a '92 Firebird Firehawk also appears from time to time. There have been some exotics in the past but those are pretty rare. Ok, talk to you later

One of the best roads I ever driven was the one up Mount Norquay in Banff to the ski resort. During the summer, it is not often used since well, there's no skiing...so, if you go at the right time, it is just you and the very windy upward climb.

I drove just a bit too fast (like really fast) last summer and in a giant U-turn on the path, nearly flew off the road (no railing) after almost losing control.

Yeah, I think our lives flashed before our eyes. We could also smell rubber from inside the car...anyhow, the wife demanded that I pull over a few feet away and then after being told to step outside, she proceeded to read me the riot act.

A couple of cars did pass by eventually...and I recall seeing them slow down and stare probably wondering why some Asian girl was screaming at a red-faced and furiously nodding guy at the side of the road.

I think someone took a picture.

I mean theres a whole bunch of factors and most point away from the Acura with it being 13 years old and now having 190,000 miles on it. The dampers for all we know could be close to being shot.

I'm just stating my observation, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

BTW the corolla is still a shitty car to drive, and I kinda have to guess if I can take something that fast, theres no feedback. I know the Acura's limits kinda well. Obviously I'm not a race car driver, but I'm a pretty good one in my mind

after a long hiatus, I fired up GT5 last night, bought a LFA and modded it to the max, and took it out on Laguna Seca. It sounded like shit, it sounded like a blender. Such a disgrace to the real car. Yeah so that lasted like, 3 minutes. Ok, talk to you later

To srika's little "dream" garage...

Yack about it here: https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/your-dream-3-car-garage-293239/

...here: https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/whats-your-dream-garage-209942/

...or here: https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/whats-your-dream-garage-832107/

Or...all of them!

Otherwise, we're talking about fiery deaths here or how to get our vehicles airborne.

I went driving on Mulholland a while back when I had my Acura like at 3am. Everytime there was a corner where I could fly off a cliff, I went a lot slower compared to corners where I'd run into the mountain. I did push a ltl too far annd one of the turns I did understeer a little into the oncoming lane which was bad. But there were no cars on the road, which is why I let myself push that far??

I am not talking about what my dream garage would be. I am talking about cars that are literally in my dreams. lol

and, I know you're not really telling me what I can and cannot talk about it in a random car talk thread.

So, you did something along the same lines as the stunt I was pulling up and down the mountain road...

I'm guessing you probably didn't have a woman screaming at you afterwards though.

The FX...not the best car for this sort of hooliganism but, hey...it's all I got on the trip, alright?

Yea I'm not married

Also I generally dont push the car to where it would understeer with people in it... you shouldnt too!

Its easy to scare people without going to the that point anyway. I always get a little bit of satisfaction from scaring people whenever theres ramps/canyons haha.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...fx45-road-test
With this system coupled to 265/50 Goodyear Eagle RS-A gumballs mounted on standard 20-inch wheels, it's not surprising that the FX45 generates serious cornering grip. We measured 0.87 g on the skidpad. And when you stomp on the ABS-equipped four-wheel disc brakes, this massive helping of rubber brings the FX to a halt from 70 mph in just 160 feet. Both of these figures are the best we've ever measured for a sport-utility vehicle.

ZIPIT! To be honest, the FX actually doesn't handle too poorly...I would not call it a go-kart but it definitely holds its own esp. with the factory Dunlops given.

Okay...I stand (somewhat) corrected on the FX's handling prowess. It's probably better than I thought. But, we're talking about Yummy driving though, right? Not Walter Rohrl.

Are you saying you have some Corolla rental and it handles better than your beater TL. Now I understand.

Set your TL on fire, get check, buy something not so beaterish, but if you buy a Corolla, you'll never get poon.

good point. btw. Walter Rohrl is the shit.

here is a video I stumbled upon the other day, I knew of his Nurburgring prowess and being a Porsche test driver, and I knew he raced prior to that, but I didn't know he did rally racing in the 80's.

No my dad took the TL since my mom didn't want me getting stuck in the middle of the road and he drives less.

Also I never said it handles better! Handling is more than just the speed during cornering I think. The TL handles better most likely. Remember real world your not linking turns like a race track. You're taking ramps and most corners one at a time, unless you're on a canyon road. The Corolla inspires no confidence and I feel like I could just fly off a cliff if I go to fast.

It handles better than a Escalade or Navigator.

That's all I care about.

But, yeah...you set it to sport mode and after disabling a few bazillion controls (i.e. IBA, LDW and etc. etc. etc.), the FX in all seriousness has some nice scoot and hooliganism abilities. I'm not all too thrilled to be in a CUV but it's probably one of the sportiest ones in the segment...

Here's hoping after we get our new place that I can start planning to going back into a normal car...5-series, please?

Haha, plan is to save up for a new car then give the corolla back to my dad. My Acura won't last much longer and he can get rid of that. Technically these are my parents cars so no trading in. Using it while I can. It sucks but I can endure a little longer.

And don't be a nimrod and spend $$$ on a car until you have your own place. Property first...then, depreciating asset! No matter how "fun" that depreciating asset is...

(unless you're buying a Ferrari or Pagani which will likely appreciate.)
