I would take this coupe over AM. Yes. I'm in love with this car.
This car turns more necks than AM does on the road as well.
Maybe it's just me.

I've seen a couple w/ dealer plates in Toronto. I think the roadster is one of the few cars that's better looking than its coupe counterpart.

I was thinking the same
I will. Her husband and kids are headed to their coast house this weekend, but my aunt isnt leaving until Monday. Maybe my uncle will let me take out his 535 M-Sport in the meantime. I'll head back out there the following weekend(after thanksgiving,) she said she will let me drive it then.
She said they both already have tickets, and neither of them have had their new cars that long.

Was tailing a FType roadster on the tollway last week. Too dark to get a photo. Sounds awesome & looks better in person.
To me, the coupe looks a bit better.

Jaguar is doing some great things these days - what a gorgeous car. And, $100k for a Jag with 500hp that does the quarter in 12.0 @ 120 (!!!) is not too shabby IMO. I could mention this car in the same breath as Aston Martin, and look at the cost of their offerings and how much grunt you get. Compare it to the V8 Vantage roadster, that is $150k, and it does 12.9 @ 112 in the 1/4. Quick, but not QUICK like the Jag. Ok there's my dialogue about that.
The Jag has a 500Hp, supercharged 5.0 V8 whilst the Aston still retains a 4.7 V8 only putting out 420Hp. The V8 Vantage has virtually remained unchanged besides minor improvements made over time. A more comparable model would be the V12 with 510Bhp.
However, since you brought up costs, none of that is relevant to what you get for each car. These cars have never been competitors on the market & never will be; that's why they've gotten away with literally being designed as one another for so long.

I was not expecting Jaguar to ever make a car that does 12.0 @ 120.
Bravo to them for doing that.
want to compare to the Aston V12? Sure, the Jag still beats it. Not by much. the V12 runs 12.5 @ 118. and costs around $80k more than the Jag. I do know these cars aren't in the same class. Again I was coming from a 'bang for the buck' kind of angle.

Not sure why the quarter mile time is surprising, either. The XKR-S does it in 12.2 @ 118mph.

Well, if we're going to be talking about bang for the buck, I suppose why don't we ALL just buy Acuras since it is crammed with tons of nice amenities over other German cars.
Yeah, I just went there.
Seriously, if you walked up to a real person with the $$ to buy an Aston Martin, I don't think he'll give two farts that a Jaguar can go faster. Heck, may as well tell him to get a Corvette...make it red.

Now, snarking aside, both Jaguar and Aston Martin have rich histories...so, I'm NOT discounting Jaguar's value here. Their new car is magnificent.
But, if I were to give this an analogy, it'd be like a person with a TAG Heuer Grand Carrera RS (i.e. me) with a few extra complications on it and going around thinking my watch is the sh*ts and thinking it is BETTER than a base Patek Philippe Calatrava which has ZERO complications. Yet, which watch would the true timepiece connoisseur want...? The Patek.
But, hey...the TAG is a better bang for the buck, right?

The V8 Vantage was meant to be Aston's "entry-level" model, so cost plays some consideration.
If money really is no object, I'll take both the Jag and the Aston.

And do you mean the entry F-Type, with the SC V6 rated at 340HP? The F-Type S with the SC V6 rated at 380 HP starts at $81k.
Plus I can configure the S5 with everything I pretty much want at $60k.

I don't know... I think I'd rather buy the S5 because you can get it in manual transmission.

I'd think I'd be okay with the Jag's transmission if it's a good paddle-shifted version.
The traffic here is horrific. I'm starting to appreciate the value of manumatics.

Yeah, I meant the 340hp one. My bad there. A S5 with the Black Optic Package, S-Tronic, Metallic paint, sport diff, and active damping is $64,800.

On a side note, my ST was built one year ago today.

It's funny because just yesterday while driving I was saying to myself how much I have really enjoyed driving a manual transmission for the past year now. Even with the abysmal traffic here in Chicago, I love rowing my own gears. I don't think I see an AT in my future for MANY years to come.

Happy birthday to your ST! I am still pretty disappointed with mine. The stalling issue is gone but the interior build quality ... I'm just too anal. I feel like I'm driving around with rocks in a tin can.

Seems as though many people who are into cars are also into watches/photography. Wonder why that is.
