G wagons

Can someone explain the fascination with these? My roommates friends brother has one (yeah make your jokes) and everyone oogles over it. I dont find anything really appealing about them at all. Sure its a benz and costs alot of money and Ive seen the off roading capabilities of them( not a reason why people like them) but whats the attraction to them

I honestly don't know. They just look like tanks therefore they are cool I guess. Personally I wouldn't buy one.

My girlfriends cousin has a G55 AMG and that son of a bitch FLIES! Still a box with some chrome though.

It's just the styling of the vehicle. I personally love the way they look. I've driven two of them and like how they drive a lot. Would I spend $100K on it? Probably not...

It's like a fashion thing. Why buy Diesel and Armani when you can wear Wrangler?

It's because Ashton Kutcher popularized it in the movie Spread. Rent it.

I'd rock a G-Wagon over a Hummer any day.

I thought it was quick, but I wasn't impressed with anything else. I felt like I was in a Wrangler with some more woodgrain and black leather. Plus those seats were uncomfortable as hell, so I was ready to get back in my TL after the ride.

The only good thing was that we pulled up to a restaurant and everybody stared at us when we got out

They're pretty hot. My father-in-law used to have a few from Germany... old school versions. They look exactly like what MB produces now, but they were imported and at least 25 years old. He actually refers to it via its proper name of Glenda-Wagon. I believe he still has one left for himself.

Oh, and he used import/export/sell UniMogs also. He got out of that a few years back though...

not really a fan of them or their looks. kinda saw it as just a status vehicle, but that's just like most other cars in that price range.

I love those things. I don't know why but they just look classy and ballin'. If I had the money I'd get one of those.

hummer is more of a Redneck american look at me and my HUGE truck, where gwagon is more of a sophisticated euro prick haha

The G-Wagen is a lot closer to a Land Rover than a Hummer IMO.

G-Wagens have superb off-road capability. Therefore, they are incredibly popular with posers who put 20" chrome wheels on them and drive them in town.

If I wanted to go offroading the g looks like it would be a good vehicle. I know you guys all like it for its purposes and some for aesthetics also. It just bothers me so much how the general public loves this vehicle for no reason

I had the enjoyment of driving the older model G Wagon in europe off road, man was that thing a blast, 4 speed manual.... SO MUCH FUN. i love the new ones because they pretty much kept the same exact shape just made it more luxurious

Yeah, I just didn't feel like googling the correct spelling so I just spelled it phonetically...

The G is awesome vehicle, one of the most capable off road, handbuilt in Austria, the G55 is even more amazing with that handbuilt engine and AMG additions. There is nothing else like it on the road. I have driven many of these cars and love them. The 2010 has all the latest technology on it too. I hope Mercedes-Benz never stops making it though every year they say they might.

Correct. Pronounced Geh-Lahn-deh-va-gen. If outfitted like you can in Germany (cloth or vinyl seats, no luxury stuff), it is THE vehicle for off road fun. Unimogs are better, but these are pretty good.

No reason to have them on the road, other than show.
