fun cheap car under 3k?
Original MR2. Small, light, and a hell of a lot of fun. Unfortunately, most have been lost, but I still see them advertised from time to time by the original or second owner that are in great shape with no modifications. I've seen prices range from a few hundred to five thousand.

holly shit where do you guys live where you can get all these cars for under 3000$? Cheapest miata I found within 1500km around my house is 5500$ and that's a 1991 with 300 000km.

I checked last night after I read this thread and within 100 miles of me are three Miatas costing less than $3k US. They are all early 1st gen and high-mileage, 100k plus, but well-cared for Miatas last a long time. $5k around here gets you into 2nd gen Miatas.

Having looked at cars under $7000 in the last year, I will say that $3,000 is not going to get you much.
But if you're willing to drive a high-mileage car, I saw a '99 Prelude with 200k miles for about $3k in the Washington, DC area (as an example).
There's also a '98 328iS coupe 5MT here for $3400. Honestly, I don't know what's wrong with that car because it should be about $5500 if it's only got 131k miles on it.

Miatas are a lot cheaper in USA than they are in Canada, that's why you're seeing them for more than most other people here. If you wait I'm sure you'll find a decent 1st gen for around that price though. And it's worth it.
