Blue Brat One and Blue Brat Two....

In December we got a new set of wheels for my 20 years old stepson.....he has already a "fun factor car" with his Miata so it was time to ditch the Celica for a more practical car for college.

So we got him a new WRX sedan....to complement my wife WRX STI hatchback . Interesting enough, he tend to like hatchbacks but in this case he did prefer the sedan.

While the WRX is very fun and an outstanding car for the money, the WRX STI is in another league....but I think that this is enough for him at the moment...

However, we did look briefly at the Mazdaspeed 3...not bad at all but no doubt the WRX is a much more sophisticated design from a technical standpoint than the 3....the Mazda did strike me as an "El Cheapo" version of this car...incredible how much more value you get for little extra money in this case.....

Here they are...BB1 and BB2......

.....When the Mazdaspeed 3 will get a boxer engine, the weight distribution of the Impreza and a full time mechanical AWD system you may have a point...until then...

Why do people feel the need to diss other cars to make them feel better about their current purchase?

OP what are your thoughts on the Infiniti G37 and Mitsubishi Evo, out of curiosity?

Infiniti G37, absolutely great car, gorgeaous look, great quality, it would have been a serious contender when I got my 6MT TL SH-AWD if it had a manual transmission available with the AWD version and a more sophisticated AWD system itself.

The EVO is outstanding too with a more sophisticated AWD system than the STI but my wife wanted a hatchback and she is a Subaru aficionado.
I also personally like more the look of the hatchback STI compared to the EVO....

def cant go wrong with the wrx. I love the MS3 though as well. My cousin actually just bought an STI. i got to check it out with him when he was shopping for it, it is an awesome car. I don't think the MS3 WRX comparison is really a fair one, because you are paying more money for the WRX and that is why you are "getting more" with it (I am mainly talking about AWD).

This is the reason they are at different price points. JS + MS3, I wouldn't take the OP's comments to heart, I don't think he meant was he said quite as confrontational as it came off. Besides your car is awesome anyway haha.

Anyway, I love that color on the WRX, your son has some cool parents. Just make sure he takes care of the car and doesn't get reckless!

My fav AWD system to drive. Would love to own one, but in this town they are driven by 20 yr old douche-bags. I would never be able to get away with the agressive driving I do in a WRX. Plus it would make me an asshole who drives a douche's car.
Nothing personal. I'm sure you've been to Portland, SaturnoV, and know what I mean.
