The Camry is a story all in itself...I bought the car cheap enough that after all the work done to it, I hope to make at least a few bucks on it. I replaced the engine, and I had both bumpers replaced. Both of them had gouges in it that didn't pay to fix, and aftermarket parts are cheaper than the labor to fix, so I replaced the bumpers. I still have a little more work to do to it, and I probably own it for a pinch over wholesale value right now. My driver was on the way back to the office with the car, when he stopped on the highway because of traffic, and so did the person behind him (Chinese dude in a Pilot), but the person behind that dude didn't (Russian dude in a 5 Series), slammed into the back of the Pilot, and pushed the Pilot into the back of my Camry. Damage isn't bad though, just a mark on the bumper and a small screw mark. I'm going to leave it alone at this point and be glad it wasn't worse. I still have to finish cleaning up the Camry a bit more and then she'll be ready to sell..

Dang that is one heck of a story for sure. Hopefully you will at least make something that made it all worthwhile to deal with.

Not really the prettiest car, IMO. It's not perfect, there are some blemishes/scratches around.

2004 TL - Navi - 45k miles - $14,000

Hood is open in this pic, nothing is wrong with it, when closed the hood is flush with the fenders...

Delivered these today:

2012 750xi - Imperial Blue/Oyster-Black with Cold/Driver Assistance/Luxury Seating/Sat Radio/BMW APps

I took back his '10 LOADED White/Cinnamon w/ Brown top A5 Prestige Convertible with 18 months left on the lease. Instead of dabbling with it, I took it to one of my Audi dealers with an asking price and sold it in a matter of minutes. It never made it back to my office!

And this:

Tomorrow, a 2012 Avalon Limited, an A4 Premium 4 door, a '12 CR-V EX, and a few others I'm working but haven't set up a delivery date yet.

is there any reason you pick up the cars that you do? or do you just take in ones that look to be well maintained regardless of make/model?

...just curious because i see such a wide variety of cars you take in throughout this thread

I buy whatever I know is going to sell. At the same time I sometimes take in trades (like the ratty Camry, for instance), because that was conditional on the sale. I do my best to buy it right and be as fair as possible to the customer, but believe it or not, at the end of the day, because i'm too "nice", in more cases than one, I took losses to get rid of some bad buys. Stuff happens, I guess.

The Avalon I am delivering today, the guy had a 2002 Town & Country Limited with like 65k miles on it that he wanted to trade in. I looked at the car on Sunday. It had so many problems I wouldn't know where to start with the repairs. I felt the repairs would cost significantly more than what the car is worth. I suggested to him that he should donate the car, but thankfully the new car sale wasn't conditional to the trade, so he's going to continue to let his kids drive it to the ground like he's been so far, not my worry or problem.

Oh, believe me, you'll never meet a more patient person in this business. Though it has been wearing thin lately, I would say at least half of the people I deal with are of the more difficult bunch. I've learned that you can't take things personal, it's just business..

i can't believe how much the compact SUVs have grown... the CRV and Rav4 used to be dinky little things, now they look almost the size of their MDX/Highlander older brothers?

I liked it. Only annoying thing is that Honda's method of avoiding the whole 6 speed automatic replacement was by making 5th reeeeeally tall, so it's idling pretty low at speed (as you can see in pics above). When the Econ button is on, you have to pretty much floor it to get the car to kick down a gear. Otherwise it drove nice, similar to it's predecessor.

Hey Ed. Scanned the thread quickly, but it's pretty big. Wanted to ask if you offered financing. Looking to buy something but even though we have the cash, will likely finance b/c A)we're building a garage and B)continuing to rebuild the credit scores.

Wow, I'm shocked that 2004 TL is 14K. That shows the value that car holds. I sold my 04 in 07 for 20K w/ 53K miles on it!
