Keep in mind that the East and West Coasts seem to drive up the price pretty considerably.

I did a ton of research on everything from a Subaru Forester to a Infiniti FX35 before I bought my Mazda3 , and if you go 200-300 miles inland you'll start to see some pretty significant price differentials.

I'd say that generally speaking, the price for 2005 FX35 in DC was at least $2,000 more than say, Columbus, Ohio. Same year, same general miles and condition.

I'm no expert but between DC, Philly, NY, and Boston there are some retardedly out-of-whack mentalities at dealers on what they can charge for a car (and sadly people pay these prices) so a dealer will "overpay" at an auction knowing that they can sell that car in Fairfax, VA for way more than say Des Moines, IA.

Depends what kind of car it is, if it's something I know I will have a hard time selling if they back away from the deal, I would take a deposit. The Escape is for a regular customer of ours. They are willing to take the car, but it's for the daughter, and she's the one that's picky about what she's driving...

Do you feel safe driving that thing? And is it hard to get your nuts off of the dashboard when getting out?

It's actually pretty roomy when sitting in the car. Because it's narrow, you are sitting close to your passenger, but it's really not that bad. You don't feel the size of it much once you're in it and driving.

^ Got a chance to drive one of those during the summer. It isn't bad as long as you don't turn around and notice that the rear window is only inches away from your head. That and it is seriously underpowered if you manage to keep it under 5000 rpm.

I had one for a couple weeks. Commuting in traffic with a big SUV behind you was a little weird seeing the headlights 2-3 feet off your shoulder.

2006 Honda Pilot EX-L - 34k miles

Car is pretty clean, no paintwork, has 1 or 2 dings to be popped out. Only paint damage I see is a chip on one of the doors, but it's barely noticeable..

This is a great thread.

Shoofin, I'm looking to trade my 07 TL-S 6 speed w/70K miles on it. I'm looking to maybe upgrade to an 08 STi hatch. Can you give me a ballpark figure on the TL-S and let me know what STi's are going for at auction? (assuming you can find them there....)

Where do you usually detail your cars? third-party or dealer?

I take it to a car wash that I have an account with. They don't do GREAT work, but it's good enough to pass. There's plenty of my to complain about on this car for the lousy work they did, a few to note, one being a sloppy engine wipe down and the interior windows were very streaky. Oh well. I would probably have it cleaned again before this car actually got sold.

Shoofin,

Were you at the Manheim (NJ location) auction last Wed. ? I was told Infiniti sold a large lot of 2008 G35x's for only $20,000-$21,000 each. Were these cars in accidents and repaired ?

Nice informative thread you have here.

1988 Porsche 911 Turbo Cab 5 speed - 47k miles

This car was offered to me, I have no idea what it's worth. Has a new top (navy blue) and tires. Sat in someone's house for almost 20 years in Florida. It's now sitting in someone's garage in Marlboro, NJ for the last 3 years.

great car, but damn, it can't be put on the road w/o a ton of money. You need to replace all gaskets/seals on the motor and all fluids. that is really a nice car but a shame.

Depending on what you got it for, it'd wouldn't be a big deal. Much better than buying a trashed version and having to completely redo it.

BTW, that's a nice garage it's sitting.

That's worth nothing, maybe a couple hundred...

I'll be nice and take it off you for a grand

Honestly though, that is a beautiful car. I'm starting to become suckered into the classic car scene, and older 911s are one of my many favorites.

I made a mistake, it has 24,500 miles on it, not the 22k that I initially mentioned. It is low miles, and that's why I bought it. I'm very selective on what I buy..I bought the car dirty, so I didn't see a lot of the flaws. Now after I cleaned her up there are a bunch of scratches around the car that the people who had it before touched up. It still looks decent with the touchup, which is why I chose to leave it alone rather than starting to paint panels. Saves money for me as well as the next owner, too...

I think your doing a great job of showing the product and any potential flaws in appearance. Dealers around here seem to only take 5-10 pics from a distance and that's it. I don't think they realize how many people window shop online and narrow it down to maybe 2 dealers to actually go for viewings. Keep up the good work

btw, that p-car is

Fluctuates a little...Drops 10% one week, the next week bounces back. Overall I don't think the resale has been affected as much as we all expected.
