Craziest car stunt ever attempted
i dont see how that woulda worked in the first place. that car has the aerodynamics of a brick. not only that, a cheap plastic add-on thats supposedly called a "wing"?? i dont think they really thought it through for a "one million dollar" prepared stunt..
did you see how his car wasnt even fully intact even before the jump?? no panels on that car was even lined up right..
its not the craziest car stunt ever attempted its more like the worst attempt at a stunt ever.

Unearthed by WINDING ROAD’s esteemed editor Reilly Brennan, this may just be the most spectacular automotive video you’ll ever see. This video chronicles Kenny Powers’ ‘Super Jump’ — a world record attempt at crossing the St. Lawrence River back in September of 1976 in a rocket-powered Lincoln Continental. Yes, really. The plan was for Powers to launch the Lincoln from a specially constructed 8.5-story ramp in Morrisburg, Ontario at 280 mph, landing safely one mile away on New York’s Ogden Island.
The project took more than $1 million dollars and five years to attempt. A Hollywood producer reportedly underwrote much of the proceedings in exchange for exclusive film rights, with the understanding that no live audience would be present.
Interestingly, the feat was originally scheduled to be performed by Ken ‘The Mad Canadian’ Carter, but an early attempted resulted in mechanical failure. Many days passed, and the camera crew apparently thought Carter was stalling at taking a second attempt, so they secretly convinced Carter’s friend Ken Powers to take his place in the Lincoln. Carter wouldn’t learn of this development until well after Powers took off down the runway, and was reportedly furious.
In 1983, Carter would attempt a significantly shorter jump in a modified Pontiac Firebird, but he was killed after his car overshot the landing ramp, landing on its lid.
Incredibly, Kenny Powers is still an active stuntman.
