8 second Supra vs 8 second Camaro
Haha i'm new school. i'll take the supra FTW! That was my dream car. I bet if we looked at the age bracket on people who picked the camaro or who picked the supra as their preference 26+ = camaro, 24- equals supra, 25 is a tossup

Now this is a Supra....and the second is what the Supra motor is capable of doing....6's.

I saw this one before it was built. The guy that built it, built twin Soloras with a super modified Supra Motor. It was freaking angry looking. He also had a Supra that ran 8's and 9's about 5 years ago.

Let's be honest here...
Both cars are sweet as hell. They're both gorgeous and I seriously wouldn't know which one to pick! I have always love Supras but it's rare to see a Camaro that beautiful. I'd really have a hard time choosing either one of them.
Now, Supra are only a 6 cylinder, to be able to launch like that and get 8.28secs in a 1/4, that's freaking amazing. Yes, the Supra will need some tune up and tweak afterwards to make sure all components are ok... but that's the WHOLE idea about performance and modification. It's a hobby that people like us live for and afterall, man... is that supra fast or what!

I'm 57 and I'd take the Supra ....never mind, I already have one
...though mine is no 8 sec. car. I love drag racing too, but I prefer driving in road racing venues (just road course track days, not pro of course) though a quick blast here and there is also very enjoyable; last month I pulled the stock turbos out and installed a small single, on racegas easy as pie the motor is cranking over 700hp (low 600's to the wheels), I drive it often, like to work today, take the kids to school, a very practical reliable car, though I do have beaters (ACURA OF COURSE, still reliable old '89 Legend and '04 TSX) too for bad weather or boring drives.
I grew up as a muscle car maniac ...check the math I was 20 y.o. in 1969, so I love American muscle cars old and new. This past weekend I went to a local meet, all sorts of import and domestic cars, including an awesome Camaro that has run 8 sec et's., some pics
http://rides.webshots.com/album/555077738XuCXbS and a vid of some irresponsible burnouts including this Camaro http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...t=6307bda6.flv The Lexus SC has Supra turbo power belongs to the shop owner.

And it spends a lot of time in the garage getting worked on. Stuff always seem to break on those Supras from what he says, but it is fast as hell though.

The breakage report is far from the norm, unless the car is not built right or is/was not taken care of. I don't know, in my experience and most other Supra owners I know, they are super reliable. If your buddy is from NJ, likely I could know him anyway from the Supra forums.
Mine has close to 90k miles on it, I've owned it for over 6 years, I've beat the hell out of it trying to drive the shit out of it on road courses and on the street, and all I have ever done is routine maintenance, change the oil and very normal stuff. My neighbors who drive boring cars of all sorts WISH their cars were as reliable as mine ...they just shake there heads in dismay when they come over to look when I'm cleaning it or working on it.
PS: sorry for taking this thread off course, not what I intended, won't do it again

They break because most mods are way out of what a normal Supra can handle. But if you are handy and know what you're doing, it's fun.

I went by Bullish to check out my friend's car and some guy drove up in a fully stock Supra. Not a single mod. I thought the guys that worked there were going to cream themselves.

i'm old school and a die hard V8 fan, but even I'd take the supra in a heartbeat
Just today I saw a post on a popular Supra forum that I frequent about a pure stock '95 TT that somebody there just picked up with ....I forget the exact number but well UNDER 2000 MILES!!! There have also been posts about a Toyota dealer, I think somewhere in the Atlanta area if I recall, who has several pure stock MkIV TT Supras all with under 5000 miles. There are two I know of within 10 miles of my house that are pure stock never modified. So they are out there, rare but not impossible. IMO it's all in the condition and quality of work/mods, so if done right I'd have no problem buying a moded one.

Here's an old MKIV Supra joke: What do a 500, 600, and 700hp Supra have in common?
12 sec. timeslips!
