Oh I’m really curious how you like it. I have 2 of the first gen ones, but they constantly trip because of blind spot sensors. Anyways, one of the 2 died because the power wire became brittle over time, cracked and the wires shorted. I was looking around and Uniden and EscortMax keep coming up in reviews but those are a decent chunk of change.

As boring as the Autobahn is, I want to see 300 kph once in my life. I have to find a stretch light on traffic; not always easy.
I've got 3 of the V1.1 detectors and agree Phil. It was a hard decision not to buy a Uniden that has GPS built in that learns of the whereabouts of false alarms and negates them in the future. I love my V1's, incredible detectors. It looks in V1.2 to be the leader in distance for detecting so I stayed tried and true. I thought (and did for a bit) I'd slow down after tracking my car but the very reason I don't have crotch rockets any longer, the inability to control my lust for speed is gonna burn my ass so detector time!
I didn't even think to run the G meter or SportChrono so truthfully, I can't tell you. Those numbers however, seem a little high to me for no readily apparent reason, ie-no factual support.
That is from the on-board G meter. And after each series of rounds I'd take a pic and zero the reading. Ideally, some type of track monitoring would be far better to indicate where I am slow and fast. I wonder how accurate the Garmin Catalyst and other brands are?
Mounted the shift knob and 911 emblem today, think they both look great. Was going to mount the emblem vertically on lower dash but mounted it "Heritage style" instead.
thanks for the link, of course they don’t have the sweet race livery for my deprecated 991.2… maybe I’ll just get a color matching one. Suncoast is pretty close to me, my neighbor wants to go to a cars n coffee there next month so maybe I’ll stop by and pick it up then.
Thanks @Joneill44 and just like A-Zine was so detrimental to my wallet in my CLS years, Rennlist is just as bad only more expensive. I thought I was pretty educated when it came to car culture until I started hanging around with Porschephiles-these guys are full of knowledge for the marque, very cool to be a part of it.

Whole different ball game when it comes the porsche fandom. I'd argue they are the most educated on their brand
I've only ever been a 911 passenger, once on the road (991 S, IIRC) & multiple time in autocross (997 GT3 on slicks)
But it was a blast even from the right seat.
Only P-cars I've driven were 944s
The Porsche 911 Is 2023's Most Satisfying Car To Drive
And while I or anyone else have not driven every other car on planet earth, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and agree having just come off 2 days at MOSPORT. Not my first time and what a blast!
Unfortunately I was in a slightly slower group this year but still pulled 1.25Gs in the corners and just over a G braking. A bit less than last years 1.34G and this on performance street tires.
Then the instructor took each of us on a very hot lap around the track. A very different world and one I could do all day long. Talk about paradise!
The BEST MOD is driver training, then comes tires, brakes and suspension...not chips!
What's going on at Sebring @PhilB81 ? SCCA or Fanatec GT?
oh just PCA HPDE.
I am far from a pro driver.
I always liked cars as a kid, then in high school, my cousin and my uncle got into SCCA club racing. I was there at every event, helping out however I could. My cousin is pretty good at it, but even he had no illusions of making it a career. I was pretty hesitant about Sebring, my cousin had some SCCA races there and he said it’s pretty rough and bumpy. But a friend I made at PCA Autocross goes to every HPDE at Sebring and he said it’s not that bad. Plus I’m not trying to podium like my cousin, so I can avoid the worse of the bumps.
Id like to try Daytona at some point too, then one day I want to drive on COTA. I went there I’m 2012 (I think that’s the year) for the first f1 race there. It was nice and open, lots of runoff, the esses and the climb at the end of the front straight seems so fun.
Nice GT3 duuuuuude! Looks like your graphic art skills are um, a little misaligned. lol
thanks!
and yeah those numbers… at least the 4 and the 1 are aligned in relation to each other. I have pics of it at aurocross that looks like I threw those magnets from across the parking lot.
Regarding the cars, a combination of factors combined to allowed me to justify it. First, my dad has a 2012 carreraS which has been solid and he still really likes it. Then my cousin has a 997 gt3 which is a track queen and it’s been really reliable too. And finally in 2018 they brought the manual back. They also hold value well, so it didn’t feel like I was just throwing money away.
Main thing I need to resolve is the bucket seats are too upright. It’s fine normally, but terrible with a helmet on. I need to look at getting the bracket to tilt the whole seat back.
My car FINALLY goes in tomorrow for the driver's side window to be replaced. It is right on schedule as the Service Mgr. said it would arrive 8/8. Glass broke July 9th. Porsche is replacing at their cost, doesn't matter, I have full glass coverage regardless.
I just returned from the dealership and asked the Service Mgr. ("Mark") if one of the glass protection films would help and he said "I have not heard it would. I did hear if you tint these windows, you can end up with cracks and it would seem if tint would do that, so would the glass protection films." Hmmmmmm . . . . . need a definitive answer here for sure. I waited 4 weeks for the side window, Mark added it took him 6 months to get a windshield for a S last year while it took 3 days to get one for a GT3. Ridiculous, no rhyme or reason. They gave me a Macan, nice ride actually; quick and quiet. When I got home I lifted the hood to take a look underneath. Porsche probably found the most expensive way to make a hood, check out the pics. Whole front end of wheel wheels up, lifts. Crazy. $4K for these wheels-ridiculous.
Big clamshell hood. Always wondered how they looked with the hood up.
Reminds me of the first gen 'BMW' Minis, but I think those had the headlights attached to the hood.
Why is that expensive? It's just two huge stamped sheets of aluminum welded/glued together, really wouldn't be any different if the holes weren't there.
Doubtful, especially when you consider that hood also has two holes punched out of it too.
The biggest cost driver for a hood like that is material, not holes cut out. All of the holes and shapes are formed in one stamping operation and then welded/glued (depending on company/design) to the inner piece (also stamped) for rigidity.
I believe the Challenger hood is steel and likely the Macan hood is aluminum so it would be more expensive because of that, not because of the headlight holes.
So the service mgr, Mark, said he suspects the attachment points for the window were too tight. There's two mechanisms to attach the window at the bottom of it which are only able to be hand-tightened but apparently can still be done improperly.
I think the gt3 windshield is a lot simpler, I had to get mine swapped and it didn’t take long to get one in stock and they said it’s because it doesn’t have openings for all the sensors. I’ll be honest, I don’t know why that makes so much of a difference, I would expect the curve of the glass is the hard part not little openings in the tinted areas for a camera to peek through.
im glad you got the glass sorted on your 992. And LOL 73k for the macan, I would absolutely not pay that.

You would think that the Porsche factory who does this all the time would do it right if that is the reason for the failure. Personally, I do not trust dealerships and independents. I am sure some are good, but its not like it is tatooed on their forehead. Of course this was an expensive warranty repair, so why not. In my case, it was a few coolant O-rings so I did the job myself even though I was on CPO.
By the way, have you noticed that the NHTSA and IIHS do not perform crash tests on these cars or any like it. I was curious after seeing some deadly C8 accidents and looked up our cars. I know they are good and I was curious, but nothing showing on their sites.
Exactly! As if that car didn't come with nice factory alloys to start with. Hell, for $3790 the owner can buy a nice set of alloy winter wheels and the best tires a few times over and keep the factory originals.
