Personally, it's also just too big. I miss the smaller Focus. I was thinking that the Golf R, Audi S3, or 2-Series would have been the size I'd prefer.

Even with the tune, it's slower than I would have expected. It's slower than my tuned Focus ST. There's nothing wrong with the car that I bet the V8 doesn't solve.

But they were all $5-12K more than the Mustang EB, so there's that to consider.

Ah.. well.. I think you should take the S3 and 235i for a spin if that's the case. Assuming you can find either at a reasonable cost.

How can you say slow? the tune I posted was mid 12's @ 105ish. I'd like to see an ST run anything close to that on just a tune.

a ~1.6s 60 ft and ~7.6s 1/8th.. that's plenty in my book.

Now the V8.. well.. not considering performance.. it's a visceral thing. Mmm..

I dunno what to say about the tune that guy's using. I'm running Cobb's middle tune which is 257/353 and it doesn't put me in my seat like the Focus, which was 242/342. And the Focus is several hundred pounds lighter too.

I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from going to drive one. It's a good car and with all the bells and whistles I have, it's a better value than just about anything under $40K by a mile.

I will say that giving it the beans and not having to deal with front wheel torque steer is really nice. The steering is great and that it's variable effort based upon settings is fantastic. The radar cruise works like a charm and so does the cross traffic warning when you're backing up.

Just to be completely honest, if my car with the options it has wasn't $42K for a GT I would have probably bought it instead.

I can attest that this is very true.. stepping into a CTS-V from a TL.. Braking and acceleration is ridiculous in comparison, but the feel behind the wheel is definitely polarizing because of the weight difference. It took me a while to get settled in and really get a feel for her. You can go slower but still get that adrenaline going in a smaller lighter car. Plus FWD vs RWD.

But, for the record, your Ford will always be known as "the Accord".

Maybe there's a GT that's been sitting on the lot all winter that you could swap into.

It'd be really expensive to do that now. Even if I could somehow get the $33k I paid for the EcoBoost, I'd still have to come up with about $7k to get into a GT Premium.

It be what it is ... I bet if I had purchased an A5 I'd be having this same conversation ... So I just need to get used to the size of the Mustang and the fact it's not neck-snapping quick

Cars will depreciate - maybe in a few years when the gap between an EB and GT is smaller you can make the jump.

Congrats on the Passat!

Honestly, I'll probably move on to something else if I sell the Mustang.

The Passat is fantastic. Great ride, quiet enough, and gets 30+ mpg in my normal driving. Doesn't feel as big as it is either. For what I paid, I think it's a good deal. Apparently, VW has replaced the Wolfsburg with a new Special Edition that adds a couple extra features for about the same price.

When they first came out, I liked them a lot. And for $23k, you can get a loaded Veloster Turbo 6MT with panoramic sunroof and navigation.

But, I would probably rather have less features and a better car so I'd be looking at the Golf 1.8T S w/Sunroof and the Lighting Package even though it's only a 5MT. The 6spd Auto is good enough that if you wanted that, both the Veloster Turbo DCT and the Golf 1.8T would still be about the same price. The only difference is the Veloster has navigation.

Hold on to it until next summer and trade for the RS. That's my opinion.

RS?

That's my issue...if I Mustang'd, it'd have to be 5.0 and at the prices they're at now, there are too many other options. Fk it...that's how I ended up in the same position twice in a row.

The CTS teaser pic is pretty epic though. But I have a horse in the race.

You got the EcoBoost Stang?.. I test drove one of those with the performance pack. It felt numb, and not much faster than a CL. Engine made terrible noises, seats didn't feel as good as they looked, and the chrome switches are impossible to read. Probably had regular gas in it though.

Anyway, I would have gone for the Camaro 1LE.

The 1LE is $40k. I paid $33k for my Mustang. The sound is electronic. The seats break in fine or there are $1500 Recaros available. It's a high-5s car stock.

Also, the Passat interior is a huge step down from the previous generations. Should've gone with a B5 manual 4Motion wagon there.

You could probably get some money off the Camaro.. the new one is being revealed soon, and it is a GM product after all.. anyway.. the Mustang has a different tune for regular gas, so maybe that was it.
