You know something has to be up when you're not maintenance washing your car every morning.

This. Plus my car is two months old and has 4,000 miles on it. So there's that newness factor too.

I don't know when I'm going to be able to put aside several hours to clean it properly either as I'm back in school and these classes are full of ridiculous busywork.

So I hit a 60' nylon strap that fell off a truck when I was on the DC beltway last Friday. Was lying on the side of the road, a car drove past it and the wind blew it into the air and naturally it wraps itself around my car.

Totally fucked up the clear bra on the front of the car and one of the A pillars.

So it's gonna have to be replaced ... For like $400 probably.

And then I have to figure out how to buff all the nylon off the paint that came off the strap. I may just take it to someone that knows what they're doing and have them do it.

Just a run of really shitty luck recently with my cars.

It's worse when you can see it coming. Sorry to hear, man.

On the plus side, that's what the clear bra is for, right? Replacing that > repaint.

Yup. It definitely protected the leading edge of the bumper.

Thanks man. He's going to have to pull the entire front end film off and redo it.

I wish people would be a little more careful. Fortunately, it didn't get wrapped around a wheel and the car. Could have really ruined my day at 60mph into a jersey wall.

Sorry to hear, man.

At least you had a bra with nice padding.

I hope your luck turns around.

So the ST got a CEL and I had it towed to the dealer I bought it from.

The service manager demanded I take the oil catch can off before they'd fix the car. I am not going to do that because they're a bunch of clowns.

I was able to clear the CEL by uninstalling the tune so I hope that for the time being, at least, I can drive the car while I check with the Focus community to find a DC area dealer that isn't run by jackasses.

Wait, what? They wouldn't service your car with a catch on it? Seriously, I have to wonder what you did to piss off the car gods. Between the E36 and the weirdness you've been dealing with on this brand new car...I'm afraid you need to sacrifice a chicken or something to get back on the gods' good side.

Nope. He said several times "As soon as you return it to factory, we'll take care of it for you."

So I'm waiting to hear what the actual problem is when I pick it up and see if it's something that I absolutely will have to have the OCC removed for if all the dealers in my area are like this.

Really sucks. All I'm trying to do is protect the longevity of my car.

I'm getting the clear bra redone on Friday and then I'm out of town for a week. When I get back, it's getting a full detail and then I'll snap some pictures.

I know ... More waiting.

Sigh. OCC came off today. Car is undriveable right now. When I get the CEL/Service Engine Now warning the car is way down on power and it feels like the ECU is seriously nerfing the engine sporadically.

I hope they fix this. I don't want this to end up being my first lemon.

Hmm that's really weird. Both the issues you're facing and the dealer not wanting to check the ST out with the OCC on it. So this sluggish engine behavior started after getting a CEL right? Just out of curiosity did you check to see if the turbo inlet pipe came loose? Very common problem with the ST's from what I've read.

I was thinking that might be it too but honestly, the engine bay is stuffed to the gills I can't see it.

Other guys are having this issue w/o the turbo inlet pipe coming loose so I wasn't sure WTH was going on ... Hoping I get a good mechanic tomorrow

Car's ready. Service advisor said that the Mass Air sensor had an issue because of my "aftermarket intake" which consists of the Green Filter instead of the OEM one. SMH.

So now they're saying they won't cover the warranty work. I've asked them to reconsider. Picking the car up shortly.

What? Denying warranty work because of an air filter?

That's ludicrous.

I have a feeling that the grease monkey saw the green filter and just entered in aftermarket intake. Which, you're right, is ridiculous that you can only use an OEM filter.

I'm not the most technical car guy but shouldn't a MAF/MAP be able to detect increased airflow and not crap out??
