I'm thinking of selling the Moostang and moving downtown. Probably selling it before the next car payment is due in Sept. Wish I could keep it but I'm not paying DC 6% to register it there, plus parking.

I haven't been posting much recently because I've been busy but I've actually grown to like the car a lot more than when I bought it. It's a good car.

But I want to move back to the city. All my work is there and even though I don't commute every day, two hours round trip twice a week sucks balls. Plus if I want to do anything in the city, it's the same two hours in and out. So I miss out on things to do there because the drive sucks.

Anyway, I really wish I could keep it but $1500 in registration tax plus $185/mo for parking is just not something I want to do for this car, even though I like it a lot.

BTW, this is the Ford Accord aka Moostang aka Mulletmobile aka Vtek CVT Ekoboost.

2 hours round trip commute @ twice a week?

Fuck i wish i have your commute.

That is the daily commute schedule for 80% of the people in LA.

About two hours round trip is my daily commute. It sucks.

But what about the dogs?

Thinking of buying a place downtown or renting?

Going to sell the Mustang private party?

My commute could very well turn into that ... Which I definitely don't want.

I have the Passat so the dogs can go in that. I'll have to be much more anal about cleaning it after they ride in it as it'll be my only car.

I'm going to rent for now. I'm not 100% sure where I want to live and what my life situation is going to turn into if I meet someone. I don't want to buy a place that requires me to take my kid through the city to a private school for $15K a year. So I'm going to rent and see what happens.

No, I'm not going to sell it Private Party. There are too many fuckwits to deal with for an extra few dollars. I'll take it to Carmax and two or three Ford dealers and see what they offer.

It's 2x a week now. It'll probably go to 4x here soon.

I realize that most of the country in urban areas has to deal with that ... I'm fortunate I can make that choice and opt out

I don't know how you guys do it. My commute is 40 mins round trip in traffic and about to go down to ~5mins round trip because my office is moving close to my home. Can't imagine your commutes especially with how much you guys pay for gas.

after decades, you'd get used to it until someone tells you 2 hours daily round trip commute is too much

Well, if chuckmike is selling his Ford Accord, be sure to advertise it as an "ACCORD" because that'll generate more interest since people seem to think Accords are very reliable and etc.

And write in your ad: GREAT FAMILY CAR.

Not yet. I just started getting serious with my girlfriend and so I'm waiting to see if I move downtown solo or move in with her instead. If we move in together, I'd probably keep the Accord Eco Type-S-Boost

So I'm waiting. I only put 10,000 on it the first year and owe about $18K. I'm still hoping I can keep it to be honest.

I took the Mustang to CarMax and they wanted to give me $22k for it. It has 12k miles and stickered for $35k when I bought it in November of 2014.

So, I'm keeping it. I'm going to have it paid off in two years and the Passat lease will end around the same time. My girlfriend and I are getting serious and so we're moving in together. She's a car nut and insists on driving a car with a manual transmission so we're both in agreement that her Hyundai GT and my Mustang Ecoboost make a good pair to have. Hers is the dog car and the Mustang will be the fun car.

I just didn't see it making sense to lose $11K (I paid $33K) and then turn around in two years and get a new car that wouldn't be better than the $17,800 I owe on the Mustang.

Plus, living in the city it's not going to be used all that often so I can't imagine it will have more than 20k miles on it by the time it's paid off.

Forget Carmax. They, along with all dealerships always lowball the shit out of cars when they come in. And then of course, they resell them for 6k more

It's cool to see you decided to keep the Ford Accord, or Honda Mustang, but if you ever did want to ditch it, do it privately. It may take a bit longer but your pockets will be much happier.

Sounds about right. When they quote used cars, MSRP is not the primary factor as they usually take factory incentive and other discount into consideration (Ex. how you can get $6000 off on a 25k 2016 Camry new will affect the used Camry price)

you lose about 30% within the first 2-3 years (usually 2) when you want to trade it in, so assuming you got the Accord for 32k - 30%, so $22k sounds about right. a little low but not that far off. Carmax will inspect and turn around sell it for $26-27k.

That is why you lease cars with bad resale values (domestic and Germans) and buy or lease cars with great resale values (Most Toyota and Honda, minus RLX).

I miss driving the Mustang. It's been parked for a couple of weeks now. I'm hoping just a couple more weeks before I can get it back on the road again.

I've been debating getting white stripes for it like the GT350:

Looks good.
Though, recently, and possibly inspired by Shoofin, I've been liking some asymmetrical stripes I've seen.

I let the girlfriend drive the Mustang into the city last night so I guess you could say things are getting serious

I missed the car. It's been a few weeks that it's been in the garage because of the cold weather. Looking forward to having it to drive in another month or so.

Rant: The popup ads on mobile that render this site unusable are garbage.

Anyway, I have $25-28K to spend on a vehicle. I need it to have four doors. That's my only non-negotiable requirement. The only other thing is that once or twice a year, my three dogs will be in it for a road trip.

I have looked (online) at everything from a Ford Fusion Sport to an Audi Allroad to a 2015 Genesis sedan.

I regret selling my Mustang but only because I'd rather have that and a beater than have to get another car again. My lease on my Passat ends in a month.

Nothing really excites me in the used market. The Allroad isn't a bad car but it's old tech and an old platform. The 2017 Fusion Sport seems interesting and those cars that were $37-40K new are now $27-28K so I feel like there's some value there.

I have no idea what to get and I'm almost resigned to just turning in the VW and not doing anything until I really need a car.

There seems to be less car shuffling going on these days now that all the regulars have gotten married, bought houses, and are having babies.

I'd love some ideas from you all.

You can get screaming good deals on the tore-ass SHO. Fast AF and as big as a tank with a huge trunk.

Also, when did you sell the Mustang??
