Intelligent point. This is one of the reasons why I leased that car. I don't want to resell the car and have to explain why I didn't get A/C.

Leasing is also a case of no-brainer here. After 96000km/4 years with an interest rate of 1.99%, the residual is 51%, compared to less than 40% in the USA, as reflected by the +115$ a month payment (assuming same tax rate).

At worst, I will make a check for the residual at the end of the term, no big deal.

I owned a 1991 no-X Civic hatch with 4-speed manual, no AC, and a radio. At the age I was, I simply appreciated having wheels. Your daughter will, too, and you are right, it is MUCH safer than my 1991. Congrats on the new car.

So you Leased a DX for your daughter. You know the LX is probably $10 bux more a month. You acted like it's no big deal paying the residual, yet $10 more a month for a much better car is a lot to you.
Too bad there wasn't E90 318 here in NA, you probably would have gotten that too and brag about it.
God, please let me know DX has power window.

So? You're hyper-reactionary. The slightest bit of criticism of your position and you launch into histrionics and invectives (for example - https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...1&postcount=69). You're just as guilty of derails as anyone who "started it."

Are you really suggesting that the "efficiency" quip was worth your reply. Gimme a break.

So, the Civic is not a terrible idea...just not really seeing the non-A/C option here. And I'm on the side of the fence where I believe the OP has responsible kids and will take care of the car their parents got them.
For effs sakes, I took the damn bus until I was finished college. Wish MY parents leased me a non-A/C car.
Okay, I take that back. They will have no A/C and like it.

Everybody knows what he really meant by that.. You are definitely a pointless whiner. Talk about honda Civic 2012 or get lost.

React to a BB gun with a 1000lb. bomb. Overkill.
"slightest criticism and you launch into histrionics and invectives."
I see no financial benefit to leasing a brand new car for a teenager given the plethora of available, and cheap, used cars our there.
There. I've opined. Feel happy now?

Why again did I chose a brand new Civic over an used car? Look at post #1 and You have no right to fail again.

Good grief, you can't help yourself, can you?
You talking about this statement - "THE factor I went new is because standard ESP / 6 airbags is standard. Security is an important consideration (again the car is for our children). I am a strong believer in these technologies and decided to put my money where my mouth is."?
Are you suggesting there are no used cars with the adequate safety features?
