I'm curious what honda may be throwing on the table with these new awd systems, new chassis, and new engines
Of course cost and chassis are always the difference between dreams and reality
if honda won't bring us affordable awd sports models in civic, tsx, ect. can we make them

Just wait, Honda is not company fits in with the other companies. Honda seems to just wonder off and try their own ideas and stick with them.

I think we will see their awd platform make it into a sport compact at some point, but I dont know when. Maybe it will be the RSX, maybe the S2000, maybe the new CRX.

the new civic will have the RSX body, taking it's place really. they justified it in the sense that it was not a sophisticated enough vehicle for the acura lineup. i forget what they said will take it's place.
although to go back to the original question, i would say that for now it would be safe to say an RL AWD drivetrain won't transfer to anything as is. with some extreme modification maybe you could adapt it to a TL. i would imagine that a smaller drivetrain (CRV) may be able to be transferred. it just seems like the RL is too big compared to the TL/Accord. if someone has some dimensions maybe they can prove me wrong, but i imagine the RL components would either be too long/wide/etc.
with time i imagine they will offer AWD on an accord. after all, in europe the TSX is the honda Accord and it comes in AWD. so for now the option is to get the stuff shipped over to work with, but it's only a matter of time until they do it here for american models.

Thanks for the thoughts. a lot of people have discussed the crv drivetrain and it has found a home in the gsr before, probably elsewhere too! I'll probably look at the rl dimensions too. i want an awd car when i tire of my 3rd gen prelude. i'd perfer a honda but others will be considered.

ive seen articles and stuff where people have taken the awd system from the crv and stuck it into integras and civics, but for now thats probably the closest we will see from honda for some time to come
