Used Acura Integras -- help me make a decision
Used Acura Integras -- help me make a decision
I've been looking at used Integras for my teenage niece.
Tell me what you think of this one:

It seems a little overpriced (Kelley BB value is $4505), but the guy did a lot of work on it. Worried about the mileage at 158,000 though, too.
Or this one:

Again, high mileage, but more within the Kelley BB range.
The car would probably be used for at least another 7-8 years. Do you think 100K+ miles on a '95 Integra is OK for that? Need some advice, thanks.

How about this one? Kind of hard to tell from the picture, though:

Ha, yeah, my niece had finally resigned herself to the fact that she won't get a car that's anywhere near as cool as mine. (I don't take care of her, I'm just helping her and her parents out with car shopping.)
But actually if she can end up with an Integra...ha-hey! She'd be lovin' that.

A buddy of mine is turning his wifes integra into a track car 'cause it has 210K miles on it... bought her another GS with lower mileage (about 60K on a 2000).
He's had a couple of 'em, and the only reason he stepped up to a S2000 is 'cause he totaled the last one he drove...
Seems to be a tough little car, that's cooler then a civic...

Well I can say one thing, a used Acura means high insurance rates for a new driver and 2nd it means a high buying price for a used car with high miles.
I'd definately let her look at cars SHE likes. If she has no idea, then I'd go for a use
Nissan Altima Se or Infiniti G20 which don't seem to be affected by market demand but have high quality and reliability.

I think they are looking at Nissans. You're probably right about the insurance costs on Acuras; I bet they haven't considered that.
I found this Honda Civic that might be OK...

Yep, here's the bad news on the ripoff potential.

Might I suggest a Volvo 850/S70 (or any Volvo for that matter?) Everyone knows that Volvos are legendary for their ultimate safety. I think this would contibute to lower insurance costs. Beyond this, they are enjoyable to drive, offer many amenities, provide for a conservative "luxury" brand name, and have awesome character. Most Volvo's offer some pep, but she won't be winning any drag races. Finally, another plus is that she'll be able to drive it into the ground, too. Don't girls kinda like Volvo's anyway?
Here's a decent example:

One other possibility: a 1992-1996 Lexus ES300. Great cars. I always really liked this body style and thought Toyota differentiated it the best from the Camry. I don't think I have to say too much about it.

I love Volvos. Once you have one, you'll always want another. I'm sure I'll own another one down the road...

Whatever chemicals are used to treat their seating surfaces and door panels, etc., I'm incredibly allergic to. My nose swells up like a cantelope and I'm rewarded by a splitting headache within 3-4 minutes. Its the same with every Volvo since the early nineties, regardless of trim level or model. Boy in the friggin' bubble!
