Audi "Green Police" ad

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq58zS4_jvM

This is my favorite Superbowl ad. I think it's pretty clever how they make fun of environmentalists and at the same time pitch the car as green. There's something in here for everyone.

As soon as they showed an A3 I knew it was a TDI commercial

the whole time we were all wondering, wtf is this going to be about? It gave no hints up until the last moment, just like the one Dove for Men commercial.

I liked it, especially at the end when they pulled over a "real" cop!

Meh...it would be a lot funnier if I couldn't see stuff like this actually happening in the near future.

I wish they would have been more violent with the "non-green" people. Then the "green TDI" goes to a Arby's drive-thru....

I thought as entertainment it was OK, as far as going green the commercial is a joke. Until people really grasp what it means to go green it's just some trendy phrase that most people just do not get. I realize this is just a commercial and is designed to entertain but operating a helicopter to inform a guy he's not being green because he's throwing out a banana peel is about hypocritical as one can get. I guess the concept was strong but the execution was poorly thought out.

I think that's the point man. Audi isn't the Green Police. They have the car that gets you off the hook.

The Green Police use helicopters to tell you to compost banana peels and take private jets with one person to a meeting in Copenhagen on climate change.

You missed where the hypocrisy was coming from IMO

The commercial was mocking the green movement.

I heard Taiwan is very strict about recycling.

I'd do more than I do here if they'd make it easier.

The sad part is that their sarcastic portrayal of these eco-morons wasn't that satirical. There are alot of stupid hippies out there that would probably be ok with everything portrayed in that ad....

Nothing. But don't fine people for not doing it.

And as to the paper bags... they use TWO paper bags instead of one plastic bag we used to get at Safeway. No way those paper bags are any "better" for the environment. And the damn handles always tear when you're carrying them.

Easy to put newspaper in them to recycle. I don't know what kind of shit you are buying but I've never had a bag handle break on me.

Uh... groceries? You get four bags with stuff (actually 8 bags because they double bag them) and you carry 2 bags (I mean 4) per hand and the damn handles sheer right off.

Plastic is best for heads b/c the blood and stuff eats away the paper damn quick!

And you can recycle plastic as easily.

Clearly you guys don't care about the environment. You should be using your own bags and not the store's.

Those bring your own cloth bags are a scam too, you'd have to use them for over 10 years to offset the resources used to produce them compared to using and recycling regular plastic... People don't want to ACTUALLY go green, they want to act like they are green *cough*prius*/cough*

the whole true-hugging green and PC movement is ridiculous. If you REALLY want to go green, sell the cars and houses, then go and live out in the wild... and use every part of the animal, and whenever you cut down a tree plant two more. I will stick to recycling whenever possible and not littering.

I recently found out the cleaning lady at my office throws the recycle can I have with paper in with the regular trash. That probably offsets the fact that I bring my and my coworkers' recycleables home with me. lol.

That commercial caught my attention, but I missed the first 3/4's...all I heard were 40 mpg...
I like that green...green gas money back in my pocket. Decently priced too, starting at 29k. If I was in the market I'd def. consider it.

Didn't get to see any of the commercials (or Superbowl for that matter) since I was working, but I :chuckled: a little.

Um, paper is biodegradable for those who are not inclined to recycle while plastic is not. If most people recycled their plastic bags it would be a moot point but the vast and overwhelming majority don't. I personally have reusable bags. They hold much more and are very sturdy.

I thought the commercial was pretty funny and witty.

I have cloth bags as well but I cannot be expected to keep them on me 24/7 so when I got to the store I have them handy.

But if you toss a paper bag and it sits at the bottom of a landfill it will not decompose any time soon.
