29 over ticket

Yeah I was tagged tonight. 64 in a 35. V1 laser did alert & I was able to slow down a whole 5mph before he got a reading. Saved me from a criminal ticket as I was going closer to 35 over.
Really dumb road with no traffic at all, no lights, or pedestrians, or any side streets. Goes about a mile & ends. Yet it's posted 35mph for some reason. I was opening up my car a little. I take this road a lot. Never saw a cop on it ever. Especially at night running laser.
Cop was sitting way on the side of the road in the pitch black. There are no street lights on this road. As soon as the laser hit I slowed down. I didn't see anything at 1st so I sped back up. I got to the end of this road where there is a light & saw him get behind me with no lights yet. Then I knew. Light changed & he lit me up.
He was nice though. Professional. I was in the wrong. I'm not going to BS the guy. I speed everywhere. I get so few tickets anyway. Only my 3rd speeding ticket ever.
I can plead it down in court as my record is clean. No school or crap like that. I'll wind up reduced fine & no points.
If I was a bad person I could have outrun the guy. I did see a cars headlights way back & I know I was the only car on this road at the time. I knew it was that cop that lasered me.

Sucks. Sounds like you got a plan in action though. At least he wasn't a dick.

sucks dude. holiday weekend...they are out everywhere.

I had a club meeting about an hour away...SOOO many cops on the freeway. I had to be very cautious where I opened it up...and even then I had to keep it mild.

At least you manned up to your error instead of making excuses. It's Memorial Day weekend, so no surprise.

Having been prone to excess exuberance on the road myself (though NO tickets in the V after 3+ years, crossing fingers I didn't jinx myself by saying that!), I understand the need to open it up occasionally.

Nothing wrong with going a couple of miles over the speed limit, doubling it is irresponsible driving.

You can try to get out of a ticket by running, but you stand a chance at compounding the problem. If you run and get caught, you WILL be in a heap more trouble than if you just stop.
Bottom line? when you see the lights, pull over.

Save the "let's see how fast I can go" for the track.

Yep, I'm no angel.

Getting busted gave me a chance to reflect on the other people's lives I put in danger, just for a 20 second thrill.

On the track the other drivers know I'm pushing it to my limit.

Yikes, I must be getting old since i think thats really fast in a 35mph zone.

I have a V1 and i consider myself going fast when I am doin 9mph over the limit. Expressways dont count, im a douche there.

sucks OP, it happens though. We're all car guys here and we all like opening it up, and with your car just makes it that much easier to get in trouble lol.

Just the other night I floored it near my school where the road leads away from school out to main streets, the road goes under a fwy and is kinda like a tunnel so I like flooring it there. Its like 3am there I hit 60 with the speed limit 35, and the school parking lot is just outside the fwy tunnel and i saw some car coming out of it then saw the reflectors on the side and just slowed the car quickly to like 45 haha it was close, I was more afraid of the sound coming out indicating that someone is speeding or trying to speed since i was in a tunnelish area.

edit: disclaimer before i get flamed saying you were doing 60 near a school. Other than the fact that its 3am, if i crash i'm going into a concrete wall or nothing with no chance of hitting anybody, other than a car of course which there was none

I got a warning a few months back. I was going 51 in a 35 and i normally go faster in the area. I sped up after the white timing lines on road and that;s where they got me.

When he pulled me over he and i were very courteous. He asked if i knew why i was pulled over and i told him it was b/c i was speeding.

He came back and said since it has been a long time that i would receive a warning. I never apologized since i knew what i was doing, but said that i will keep a much better eye on how fast i go and keep it under better control.

I got clocked at 102 in a 45 last year, it was a new road with no other cars so i just went at it and saw the black & white sitting in a really hidden spot and it was to late by then.

He was pretty cool about it. it was almost 5 in morning and i was crazy late for work.

He first said he was gonna tow the car then came back 5 min later and gave me a 2 min lecture and a ticket for 81 in 45.

It was around $600. have been ticket free since then .

As much as I would love to speed on the highways I think of how expensive it would be If caught.

Sorry that happened, I had a similar experience three months or so ago.

I was in an industrial area 4 lane road, Sunday morning 4am no one around. An AMG E class came up on my azz at a high rate of speed and my inner 16 year old stomped on the gas and I passed him like he was sitting still. There is an area there that always alerts my V1 so I ignored it.

Pulled me over, AMG was nowhere to be seen, I just told the truth (what I wrote above) He said I was 37 (82 in a 45) over and he could arrest me but since I was honest he just wrote the ticket and told me to slow down.

It was mandatory appearance, I went to court scared they were going to arrest me still and just asked how I plead and if I wanted school. I said guilty yes, paid the 285, did the school and that was that.

Yes it is stupid to f00k around on the street, yes we should be careful adults and yes from time to time the inner child takes over.

imho anyone that says they never speed is lying to themselves.

Sorry to hear.

I got caught going 27 over back in November, 92 in a 65. I realized that I have no one else to blame but myself so I wasn't too terribly upset about it. The Trooper was straight to the point but was nice about the whole process.

Live and learn!

This was a current body style. I am not familiar enough to know the exact year.

I was in my Z which has pretty much every mod except FI, (4 liter stroker) including 4.08 final drive, quaife full suspension 331/347 at the wheels. It is pretty quick.

LOL better than the 84 in a 65 I got on Veterans Day two years ago. I know I was speeding and I didn't care about that, I broke the law. The CHP that gave me a ticket was a complete dick.

My plates are Veteran's Status, after he handed me the ticket he said "nice plates" all sarcastically and then left. Cost me nearly $500 in fines and traffic school.

I get accepted to the Sheriff's Academy early this year. What do you know I ended up pulling over an off duty CHP doing 57 in a 35 at 4pm on a Monday (residential area, houses, kids, parks, etc), my FTO let him go.

It's insanely easy to get out of tickets here if you know the system. My record is clean so I send in a not guilty plea. I get a court date. It's a pre trial hearing. I can choose to plead no contest & be at the mercy of the judge, or choose real court.
99% of the time if your record is clean the judge will with hold points & either reduce/keep the fine or just assign court costs.

Sorry to hear, Fuzzy.

Sometimes you can pay double the fine and it won't go on your record (depending on where you got the ticket and what is allowed there).

Sorry to hear dude...You need to get a laser diffuser together with that V1. It's a great radar, but the weakness of any radar is laser. Sucks. Drive safe!

I was pulled over in my RL. Never been pulled over in the V. Thank goodness. Silver cars get no one's attention.

Laser Jammers/Diffusers are ineffective most of the time.

None are perfect. What it will do though, is scramble the signal when you're getting shot at, forcing the cop to continually shoot you until he gets a reading, giving you enough notice to slow down, even a liittttle more, that by the time the cop gets a reading, you slowed down enough to keep you out of trouble. I'm specifically referring to something like a K40 Laser Defuser, something that would be mounted on the bumper, not on the window. http://www.k40.com/laser-defuser-ex---ex2-pages-25.php

Give Raytheon a call and ask for a spare ALQ ECM pod. You may need to tow it and find a separate power source but I do promise some results of that phone call.

Been there done that back about 10 years ago. Got tagged 63 in a 35 in my GT Mustang; same type of road but during the day. Cop was cool and I was respectful. He was straight up with me and said had I been over 2 mph more, it would have been mandatory to take me to jail and suspend my license for 30 days. I was clearly in the wrong but my friend felt bad because he told me to open it up because cops are never on that road. He felt so bad in fact that he gave me $200 on the spot for the impending ticket.

I retained a lawyer ($500) and he was able to plead it down to 14 over because I had no previous record except for a failure to yield right of way when I was 17. I also agreed to a defensive driving course ($40??) and to pay the full amount of the ticket ($151) as charged. I tried to give my friend the the $41 different between what he gave me and what the ticket was but he wouldn't accept it.

I didn't mind paying the money because I deserved it, I'm was more worried about the insurance hike or cancellation, but since the lawyer pleaded it down to 14 over vs. 28 over (2 point vs. a 4 point offense), it was never reported to the insurance company.

I haven't had a speeding ticket since though I did get pulled over one more time about a year later; same car; this time for an 83 in a 45. This time the cop told me to get out of the car and patted me down. I remained respectful during all this. I was sure I was going to jail that day, but he eventually let me go because he said his radar gun wasn't properly calibrated. Since then; lesson learned. But I have to admit I still get that urge to open my cars up occasionally and very hard to resist sometimes.

This is (imho) funny

The officer in my story asked why the registration said 350Z but the car had 400Z on it.

I explained it had a 4 liter motor, he checked the vin.

Am I silly to think a traffic officer should have basic model knowledge?

e30cabrio, I would have been more concerned about the garage door opener mounted on your trunk.
