You might be missing out. I think if the new Fusion is better than the previous one (which was every bit as good as an Accord/Camry) it is quite possible it will be the best car Ford has ever built.

A great looking and very well built, reliable sedan.

Reliable is certainly not something that you can assume now.

It is not because it looks sporty that it feels sporty. OP can certainly say a word or two regarding this aspect, and what he thought that he was buying in his Sonata 2.0T.

The only reason I stick around here is because of the great group of people we have running the boards and the members contributing to the boards. Sure we all have our disagreements, there are a few individuals I'd prefer not to have any interaction with at all, but overall I like it here and we have fun.

I've been on automotive forums since I was 15 years old. In internet speak, that's practically the beginning of time. I use to connect through AOL to get onto H-T or SRO old school huh? I left those boards and the RSX board because the only members I wanted to keep in contact with already had my number. The Infiniti boards suck and is full of tools, despite owning one for two years I still don't frequent their boards.

You guys have been with me through my break up with my ex, my marriage, career changes, and generally a large part of life. We've all shared these experiences together.

AZ is the polar opposite of any automotive forum I've been a part of. Most of us in Car Talk or Off Topic don't even own an Acura, but we stick around for the experience, the topics and each other. If we continue down this road what will set this board apart from the others?

This place needs to get squared away quick.

When I bought it, I thought I could stand the "non-sportiness." Seriously. But, I really enjoy taking turns and accelerating out of corners, etc...Many here know I was a track regular.

But after having this car 6 months, I realize that I need a more involving vehicle. The Sonata is a great commuter car, I mean that, but it's just not exciting to drive. If I get the GLI, at least I know I can flog the DSG (yes, it has to be a slushbox), and I know the suspension is geared toward some manner of sporty handling.

So I posted trying to gauge how much money everyone thought I could get for my car. If I can't get a decent amount for it, I won't trade it in. I'm willing to take a little hit, but not a big hit to get out of it.

There's a real chance I'll still be in my Sonata for a while, but I hope not.

This thread has gone way off topic. Close thread before it really gets out of hand or move it to Ramblings???

Time for Scott to start a new thread, me thinks.

Scott, I think you should just take the loss and sell it privately. Dish out, if you can, another couple thousand and buy a car you TRULY will enjoy. I feel like a BMW is in your future, 3 series specifically. Ever thought about getting an older 5 series?

Would LOVE a 3-series, but even the new 328i tops out at $50K. Ridiculous...but would LOVE it.

Toy car is definitely in the future. Either a Stonk or Miata, I'm envisioning.

Not in comparison to anything else.

BUT the last day of the month is always a great day to purchase a vehicle...especially closer to closing time.

Yup. I really prefer to negotiate online and then purchase with less haggle at the dealership if I can help it. I wonder if my "veteran" status would help?

Military status not really.

Some people like dealing online. Ive always had better luck in person. Last day of the month + close to closing time = higher pressure on them to make another sale for the month and they don't want to stay at work forever.

I dunno if this works, but someone said they got a good deal on the their gti back when i used to stalk the golfmkv forums.

What he did was write up an email to 3 or 4 dealers in the area. And in the email he said He's looking for this car with these options and noted that he's emailing these dealers and that the dealer that gets him the best deal will get his money. Something along those lines.

I thought you all would enjoy some pics of my current car, so I had an impromptu photo shoot.

*All photos taken with my iPhone 4S.

Random facts:

1. Vehicle purchased 10/29/11.
2. Current mileage: 11,351 miles.
3. Days of ownership: 275 days.
4. Average miles driven per day: 41.28 miles.
5. Miles needed to be driven per day to be at 12K miles/year: 32.88.

Mods:

1. Fumoto F106N Oil Drain Valve
2. Britax Frontier 85 Combination Booster Car Seat
3. Prince Lionheart Seatsaver
4. OEM trunk mat

Now, on to the pics -

...Yes, my trunk always stays that way. I don't like to carry things in my car.

Lastly, my biggest mod (The whole reason I sold my TL and purchased this car):

The color of my Sonata, Pacific Blue Pearl, is the best color Hyundai offers on any of their automobiles, IMO. It looks black until you see it in sunlight, when the blue jumps out (sort of like Honda's NBP). However, I must confess that the only reason I got it was because it was the only one on the lot that was configured the way I wanted mine (EVERY SINGLE option available).

There's not a single swirl on her. I got her opti-coated soon after purchase. Hope you enjoyed!

Awesome car, hyung!

She looks so happy... you did the right thing getting the sonata for your daughter, leg room on sonata is far better than your TL.

Such a great looking car! And what a cute little girl! There's no better reason for a car purchase than the precious cargo carried in the back seat.
