Selling Car Question
Selling Car Question
Im moving overseas and will be selling my car in the summer. Its a 2008 G35, low miles, very well cared for, all scheduled services. Interior is in perfect shape, but I may have ran into my garage a few times...ok, many times. Damage is not major, but a decent amount of dings and touchup paint, etc.
Question is whether I would be better off fixing the body before selling. Would I make up the difference if I sold it for less? My wifes company will give us some money for the loss if needed.

Does your garage actually move around? How the hell do you hit it when it's obivously... not moving?
I normally just fix it first and sell it. I hate when these BS stealerships say "oh we wanted to offer you $xxxxx, but since you have this "major" cosmetic damage on your bumper, we would have to take off about $2k."

But wouldnt it be a lot more then say the 2K to fix it?
I would look on autotrader, cars and fleabay and possibly take the lowest price for a comparable car and take a little off depending on the amount of damage.
It there are only a couple dings, i wouldn't really worry much, but take more off for more damage depending on how quicklyy you want to sell.

File a claim with insurance. Put the money in your pocket and don't get it fixed, then sell it. Or if you really want to, get it fixed.
Any insurance experts here? Since he's done this multiple times can he file it as a single incident?

Thats the big question, the damage is in more then one area (yea I know, multiple times)
How bad is the damage?
If the dents are on the sheet metal, have you looked into paintless dent removal? That might be cheaper than taking it to a body shop.
If you are trying to sell it private party, I think you would probably sell it a little faster for a little bit more if all the dents were taken out.
Selling it to a dealer, I would say that it probably wouldn't be worth it to put that much into it, to get back little.

Post a pic of the damaged area?
If you are just selling it to the dealer, you really won't get a decent deal. And a lot of dealerships just give you a BS over those dings. It all depends on whichever dealership you go to.

Try Carmax to see what they will give you.
I would think fixing it would be the best bet. Most people who will look at your car will think it was poorly maintained by all the dings.
Theres also paintless dent repair that can fix some damage if not major.

I don't know. I've tried like 3-4 different dealerships when I was car shopping couple years ago. And none of them really give a crap about KBB value.
And even if they do, what if they look at those dings in 3 corners and say "that's worse than "fair" condition"

Maybe, thanks.
How many times did you fap in the car?
Wait. Nevermind. Don't answer that. And whatever you do, do NOT put that number in your ad, no matter how freakishly high or how impossibly low the figure actually is.
Don't ask me how I know this.
GLWS.

I remember him posting about it a while back.
I was in a similar situation when I sold my TL. Got a nice scuff/indent along the driver side door pulling into the garage in our new (at the time) house. I buffed out most of it but some scratches and an indent remained. I took it to one of those dentless repair places and they said it would be about $300-$400 to fix... so I just knocked that off the price and didn't have any problems. Actually sold it to someone on here from California. Just took really good pictures of it so they knew what the door looked like.

If you can put a truck bed on the back and sell it for $1500, then
