Oh boy, GM is in the house

I've always wanted one of the old pre-tacoma pickups... Something from the early 90's, but I keep on running into this one on craigslist:

Here's one... http://www.hidplaza.com/cart/index.p...ewCat&catId=15

I have a couple more on my laptop that I'll have to put up later since I'm at work right now.

What are you driving? (did I miss your post?) I might have another option for you as well depending on that...

Unless you have already done this and from the sound of it, you haven't, go here... http://www.dpgoffroad.com/IPF_Headlamps.htm

At the top of that page is a HD, or high performance wiring kit. I have read TONS about ungrading the stock headlight wiring harness in Jeeps for improved lighting with even stock headlamps. The OEM wiring is crap and they are probably only getting about 10volts as opposed to 14v. I plan to do this at the same time I upgrade to sealed beam HID's.

Or... you can do what deke said and add some relays. I'd prefer to just upgrade the whole harness myself.

I'll get you more sites on lights later.

Rootbeer, you might want to check into this as well.

the relay add just uses the stock harness as the signal wire. the relay + new thicker wire = brighter headlights

All the old school auto enthuisasts do the same thing... doesn't matter if it's an old vw, old jeep, old porsche... it's the same setup, same relays...

Anyone do light offroading in Massholia? I'd like to take my Z71 onto a trail sometime. I really love wranglers, but living in the city couldn't justify it, plus I need to haul stuff.

Oh, and two things to druel over:
Running a 5.9L V8

Self explanatory:

Thanks, I'd love to try some of that. My only concern is I don't have a lift kit yet.

They don't have prices listed on their webpage http://www.aev-conversions.com/

but I found this while surfing thru their pages:

http://www.missoulaskatepark.org/jeep/ which lists the price @ $72K

The brute looks hot, but I don't think I could afford that much on a truck... But once you start factoring the cost of the jeep, hemi, suspension, labor, etc, it probably can't be replicated for much cheaper...

Oh I bet it could. If they sold the parts for the conversion at a reasonable price(I know they do, but not for how much) normally it wouldn't be more than a couple grand for different mounting hardware, and that is being generous. The Hemi is like 7K, and the trans probably around 2-3, and the additional support structure(accessories, computer) for the setup probably comes in around 2K. Now if you were to buy the jeep new it would be upper 20s, but selling the powerplant brand new on ebay or to a dealer could get you back about 3-5K at least I would imagine. Then the suspension and other toys are probably 3-5K. So... 40-50 would be more realistic IMO.

Now the brute, that requires a lot of fab work, etc.

I would like to find an 80's round light jeep with low miles, with half doors to use to run around on the weekend with the kids.

Theres a butt-ton more to it then that. I'm sure they are not giving them away but between ECU bullshit, fab time, design time, packaging of everything to make it work in a stock dash form, drive train, suspension, blah blah blah blah.
suddenly it isnt so bad

Heres the best advice any jeeper will ever give you. Get out there in the jeep how it is now. Start to get the feel for it. Get an idea of what you'd like to get out of it. Observe other guys on the trails with what they have. What works for them, what hasn't.
Theres so many companies out there you'll be surprised to find out whos got parts from where.

Speaking of Jeep pics though... I finally got a chance to get her dirty up on Mt. Herman this weekend. Nothing major but it was a lot of fun. Sorry, it's just a poser shot.

Decided to go ahead and install my old CB. I was gonna get a new one like yours BEET, but I decided, what for? This one was out of "Rusty" the K5 and it worked just fine so I figured, why not?

I was going to buy a hood/fender mount for the antenna but after looking online, it was gonna cost almost $20 once I had it shipped. I made one for about $3.00.... I win. If it breaks, then I might buy one.

Here's some crappy phone pics...

we'll see...I'd like to find a Rubi, but its so much cheaper to make you own, I just like the wheels on 'em. That and I dont think you could find a 05 Rubi with 9,000 miles for 18 grand.
