Does your Explorer have a solid axle up front?

No mine does have the solid axle conversion yet, but its on the list. I have to find a good donor first. Right now I just have a 2" lift / 32" tire / off road lights / f/r tow hooks. I also like it being a 5spd. I paid 1100 for it with 68K miles so I can slowly get it how I want it

When I was searching for the right Jeep, I couldn't decide if I wanted an AT or MT. I've wheeled in both and I find that I have a little more control over the rig with the AT at certain times. Seems like this discussion has been beaten to death on the Jeep forums too. At least I know I won't have to worry about this tranny pooping out on me like in the CL's.

I have some pics of it right after I lifted it but it still had the stock tires on it :theghey: haha I will try to post some tonight. I also forgot to mention that I swapped out the auto hubs for warn manual locking hubs. Much more peice of mind when on the trail

EDIT: I thought about pulling the one out of my Blazer but it's kinda old and I think it would look stupid in the Jeep.

I got the Cobra for $111 w/ 2 day shipping from Amazon. Its $97 w/ free shipping if aren't in a rush. Plus $25 for a firestik antenna and $25 for the external speaker (bought locally).
This one is pretty cool because all of the controls and screen are on the handset. The remote brain part can be mounted behind the dash or wherever. You have more room in the XJ though, so if you wanted to get a regular box style CB you can get a decent one under $50.

I've got a couple of CB's out in the garage... I had one installed in my old tbird, but didn't want to put it in the CLS... Heck, I'll have to go see if I still have the old magnetic trunk mount antenna out there...

Nice Fuzzy!
I like where you put the sub. I was thinking of doing something similar but on top of the panel.
I have my Kicker 8" L5 that I was thinking might work well using the quarter panel as the elcosure. I've seen it done in the Cherokee before and if I could find the pic, I'd post it. The damn search is down though. I just wonder how it would sound.

Not a bad looking rig. I'm new here but I just sold my jeep for an acura if all goes well.
To get 31's under it really isn't to hard. Budget boots. Stepping it up to 33's unleashes a whole mess of issues. Driveshaft, control arms, track bar, steering off the top of my head.

Nice pics and yeah, thats about the way I'd like it to sit (3rd pic). But that pumpkin (if thats the first pic) looks uhh, destroyed to say the least. Not the first time I've seen something like that though.
I'm lucky though, after owning/modding the CL, my bank account already hates me. We have a love/hate relationship.

3rd pic stance had the following:
4.5 inch lift done via:
4.5 PORC coils 99.99 http://www.performanceoffroadcenter....roducts_id=828
S10 leaf swap: 11 bucks from ebay
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50083
Lower control arms need to be replaced with aftermarket ones at that height and that'll run you from 150? or so on up to a few grand for long arms.

Doing the springs on the CL was my first time doing anything suspension wise and it went pretty well. This seems like a different ballpark though.

So last night me and a few guys got together to put my gas tank skid on. We had it 90% done, were just adjusting the angle of the tank in the skid, when I let it slip and *snap*. This little plastic nipple thing on top of the fuel pump snapped. It was just a connection to the hose , but the f#$king fuel pump is one single piece of plastic... so I had to buy a whole new fuel pump. What a bitch.
In happier news, got my rock sliders and Daylighters on.

Pics of the sliders & lights?
I think I'm getting ready to order my lift. There's so much crap out there that I'm overwhelmed. I'm looking at 9-10 different setups right now. I think I'll end up with either the 3" RE or 4.5" Rusty's. The Rusty's is a helluva deal other than the fact it doesn't come with shocks.
I'm thinking we just need to start an "Official Jeep Thread" in Car Talk.
