Radio, FM sensitivity

I live in Toronto and drive my car around the DVP and the GTA. I have noticed the FM signal reception is not that good. I see the STEREO icon goes on/off on some popular stations, like FLOW 95 or even CHFI 98.1. I know the antenna is on the rear window. Do you think because we don't get the XM antenna on the roof and causes the signal to be weaker?

I've got a 03 TL-S A-Spec in the agean blue pearl. I'm in Indianapolis now, but I'm originally from Miramichi, NB. Nice to see all the Cdn TL-ers on the board. If there is ever a meet in Toronto, let me know and I'll take a road trip

seat memory problem

Hey Canadians, has anyone got a hold of a Canadian TSB for the seat memory problem?

Our USers have one but i asked my dealer if they had the Canadian TSB and they told me not yet.

If anyone has current info on this please post

04TL in Mississauga

Hello All,

New to this forum, discovered it a little while ago and recognize some familiar names from another forum. Great to have a seperate Cdn thread as well! I have been driving my '04 5AT abyss blue/ebony for about 2 months now and am very much enjoying it. No major problems to report, other than displeasure with the tires. Flatspotting and some definite vibration on cold mornings at 85-100kms. I let my service dept know and also sent acura cda an email (waiting to hear back). Has anyone had any luck getting their tires replaced yet? It seems like they are doing this in the US. The only other thing I am still not used to is the gigantic turning radius and the more limited rear visibility, both combine to make parallel parking fun.

Also, where are people going for a good selection of DVD-A discs?

Good but not excellent. You can stretch it to $600 tax in if you try really hard. Try my dealership, at Markham if your in GTA area. Last time I check they have 2 Anthricite 6 sp.

Good luck.

PM me I will get you a name.

Any 04 TLers experiencing starting problem? My first Acura I got my TL April 14-2004 Since and aprox. 900 KM there are numerous times the car would'nt start in first couple cranks .
I had my right passenger side door replaced by the dealer because of the flaw paint
and realigned the glove box.
Other than that the car is great, specially the suspension.
I hope this car would last for a long time.

It sounds normal on starting. Somewhere in the manual, it talks about the emission and self cleasning during start up.

Talking Canadian Nav Nag Screen

Anybody with an 04TL NAV package know how to get rid of the startup nag screen that is required by law in Canada. For those who don't know what I am talking about, after you start the car and the nice Nav picture comes up, a text screen with disclaimers comes up and makes you wait about 30 sec, then you can press OK to start NAV. If you don't do this within a minute or so, the screen goes black. This screen is annoying as hell and it figures that only in our silly country have we got these stupid laws - almost as bad as making XM radio illegal here !!!

Please help if you know how to get rid of this screen.

Thanks,
CrazyNuts.

18" Rims

Hey guys,

Just bought my 04TL 3 weeks ago and got a decent deal from the Toronto Downtown Acura Dealership. They ended up taking $2500 off MSRP for my car. Question though, anybody know where we can get a good deal for the 18" OEM rims from Acura?

Anyone know of a creditable aftermarket shop in T.O?

Hey does anyone in the Toronto area know of a really good reliable/creditable aftermarket shop that specializes in working on Honda/Acura cars? I am looking for a shop to have my TL lowered and possibly some minor painting done on it.

Pls email if you do. Greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Try ebay. I think I have seen some 18" OEM for sale on ebay for about $800 USD. It was a few weeks back.

Good luck.

034482m,

For aftermarket parts in GTA ... I got my springs/sways done at Woodbine Acura. They will honour the warranty if they do the install of new parts (eg Comptech). They do good work but you might have to haggle a bit on their pricing. Tell 'em about this site and tell 'em we sent ya!

Thanks Adam,

But i'm looking for a place locally or at least in Canada so I don't have to pay the duty and taxes. Although the price seems pretty decent for $800 USD.. wonder how much duty and taxes would be added.

Any cdn TLers have a backup sensor installed either by the dealer or aftermarket? If so, do you mind sharing how much it costs and whether it works well?

Thanks in advance

Steelecase Tire & Mag, ask for Jim. They have the best prices going, I have bought rims and rubber for them for my last two cars and been impressed with thier prices. I would go to them for my TL if I wanted to replace the factory rims/rubber, but I am quite happy with them :P.

good price on suspension kit

Can any one recommend a dealer that would give a good price on the suspension kit or any other accessories for that matter. I am being told that they cannot do better than the price on the web site.

I finally got my TL 5AT Black/Ebony. I traded my 2000 accord and jump for the TL. I'm so glad I decided to dish the extra dough and opt for the TL instead of the TSX. This is an awesome car!!!

You are looking to upgrade your suspension with a Dealer installed Acura suspension??? I hope I am misunderstanding you .. I can understanding having to go to the dealer for many reasons.. but to get a suspension upgrade??? am I missing something.....

If you are looking for a better suspension wouldn't you go aftermarket?? and a dealer will "bend you over your own car and go to town on your wallet" so I wouldn't reccomend getting aftermarket products at / or installed at a dealers.... way too much money and critism, "that intake is not really stock you know, it could void your warranty"

I am almost sure parts can be accuired for cheaper than the dealers online price, but you'll have to find another route..

What parts are you looking for anyway?

I'm looking to get the Acura suspension kit (same as what comes with the A-Spec).
Following is extracted from acura.ca web page
Sport Suspension Kit
$1,399.42
The suspension kit features track-tuned shocks and springs that lower the car by approximately 15mm and provide a firm, aggressive driving experience while still maintaining a comfortable level of handling on street and highway roads. Kit includes two front and two rear damper assemblies.

Talk to/ or PM SC354 or other members that own an A-spec.. The suspension is nothing to brag about in my opinion.. you would be able to pick up a better quality suspension kit from an aftermarket supplier... it would be cheaper...much cheaper....it probably would be an adjustable set as well (convience of changing you ride style).. and if you only wanted to go 15mm lower, like the A-spec.. go with a slight lowering kit..

head lights will have to be custom. Either you will have to check out the DIY on doing it yourself.. Or pay someone to do it. I have cleared a couple of sets and they are not too hard to do, but def. not easy! MR. is the pro on this topic. He is the guy everybody in the states sends them to. however like I pointed out, he is in the states. And you won't have your headlights during the shipping periods so the car wil not be able to be driven... what year TL do you have?

Close to buying my first TLS

Hey TLers, First post. I've been looking for a 2002 tl S for sometime. There are many out there, but I had to wait to sell my present truck. All this talk about trannys makes me nervous. But the dealer says I have 7yrs/160000kms. I guess im good to go. It'll be a black 2002. Looking forward to making it my own. Any advice would be appreciated. There is a black tl a spec, but its a little pricey, what do you think? Let me know.

Thanks

Would some of the Canucks be kind enough to post some more "how much did you pay for your TL?" I went through the thread and see mostly $1500 off MRSP. Thanks!

I just bought my TL at the beginning of August. I got $2300 off.
However, you never know how much they've saved on the trade-in (if you have one). Sometimes they bury extra profit in how much they give you on the trad-in, which makes the discount off the MSRP look extra nice.

Good luck.

Just like Allan said, sometimes it's difficult to haggle the price if you have a trade-in. I got my TL end of May and I did not get anything of the sticker price (even though I know what their mark up is). However, I got the trade-in value for my 2001 Accord (with huge kilometers in it) from $13,500 to $18,000. Whether I was able to get a great deal (which they were telling me as we spent 1 hour haggling for the price)... who knows?

yes, I have one. It cost about $1000, and is well worth it. As you back up, it starts beeping when you come about four feet from an object/person, then will beep faster about two feet away.
Excellent when you're in a mall parking lot and someone walks past the back of your car when you're backing up.
To me it's a must-have on any future cars I get.

several minor problems

I have had my 2004 TL (non-navi) for two months now. I LOVE the way it handles, and I LOVE the sound system. It is a pleasure to drive!
However, I have had some problems, and am wondering if others have had similar issues:

-low-level rattle from lights above sun visors - dealer took these apart and put them back together - seem to be okay now

-Command start (optional extra) - three times we have had it in: alarm sounds when you open the trunk with command start, was fixed three times, and now it's happening again

-Headlights on "auto-off" feature. This worked for the first two months, but did not work last Thursday night so car was dead on Friday morning

-Rocker panel on drivers side bent - this was fixed

-passenger window would slip down a fraction of an inch. Window regulator was adjusted, then this happened again, so window regulator was replaced. So far okay.

-slight cut in leather on passenger-side map pocket. This was replaced.

Did we get a lemon???? (The service dept at Crown Acura has been very sympathetic and has taken my complaints seriously.) But we are getting very frustrated. This car was BRAND-NEW, and only had 4 km when we got it. This is our first Acura. Did we get a lemon?
